  1. They know Leasure's prone to that. Call him up and put him in that situation off the bat. Meanwhile, Davis has been pitching his rear off, and they use him in the 9-0 game.
  2. Mune's double was some professional hitting. It was like he decided when the ball was 3/4 to the plate to just punch it into left. And he did.
  3. Drafting high school pitching early is just asking for disappointment (although I think the Astros knew what they were doing). But were these teams wrong in passing on Rodon? He didn't do much with the Sox until his last year; and that was after the Sox didn't pick up his option and signed him when anyone else in the league could have done the same. As someone mentioned above, Roch has been excessively hyped. I had assumed he was a generational prospect. Don't want to overthink this, but his Cod stats, not returning to Cod, and lack of speed (athleticism? ) give me pause. Roch and Vahn's stats are similar, but Vahn has a higher slug and more speed. And if he can play CF, that's even better.

    Nice, big George!
  5. This is the Sox' last late-night game of the regular season.
  6. White Sox get: Luis Castillo, Rob Refsnyder (whom we will release) Mariners get: Jordan Hicks, Andrew Benintendi, Boston Mead

To me the cautionary tale is don't use a first-round pick (much less a high first round pick) on a 5 inning college pitcher who walks too many. I guess his reputed 99 mph tantalized; not so much at 94 mph. But if he can figure out his control and then command, he does have tools. On another matter good to see Pauley with a nice game. Kanny looked like a basket-case team just a few weeks ago.
  8. I know it's easy to say now, but Detroit should have sold Skubal. Not only was that a move for the future, it would have brought in a couple of young player who would have helped the team this season. They low-balled the guy in arb (although I suspect that was so that he would get his number) so there was no real thought of extending him (which is really the only reason not to sell). I remember Williams made 2 throwaway deadline deals for a couple of stiffs in 2012 his swansong year. Well he dumped Devinski (a fantastic reliever for the Astros - but he was over pitched) and Escobar who had several excellent MI years. Between this and Hahn's well-documented moves, they purchased themselves another rebuild.
  9. I get it. I accept that some punting is necessary to do get the players you want in the early rounds. But they need to be sharp and precise about it. This started out with going overslot for high school pitching. High school pitching is the riskiest move their is in the draft
  10. Less reaching. Less using rounds 2, 3, 4 and 5 on the next Kelly.
  11. They certainly need an influx of pitching. Baseball scouting is hard and scouting hghscool pitching is the toughest of all. The punt rounds 6-10 seem to be good places to take a look at some college pitching; maybe not full-punts though.
  12. That would help a lot. Sox could use him.
  13. Not great, but the Sox really seem intent on not exposing him in Chicago. Otherwise, he could certainly be in the majors or at least getting some OF work in the minors. It's just really weird. He might be exposed but worth the risk to find out. On another matter, all this talk of punting picks to select high school pitching gives me those 4-rounds Jared Kelly shakes.
  14. Would Roch have been a high pick out of high school?
  15. Seattle doesn't look good though. Today was winnable.
  16. And this guy needs to be on the 40-man. Helping other teams unclog their 40-man is a theme of these "Small" trades (especially with Tampa).
  17. Lots of mistakes today but freaking Hicks. He hasn't been good since the teens. Getz at his worst.
  18. First move is no move. Leave Hays in AAA. We don't need Benintendi and Grichuk and Hays. One of those 3 has got to be out first. Kelenic is in that group too. Hill is a good defender so I don't include him. Antonacci can play IF and OF, but he's our starting/primary LF. He's a utility guy secondarily. So I wouldn't be so anxious to move Acuna. And of course bring up Gonzalez.
  19. 93 average fastball. I guess that's better than Eisert's 91, but Sox could use some velocity. And another trade with the Rays.
  20. Mariners did look "deer in headlights" stunned that they had to bat in the bottom of the 9th. But they got one hit all game, so I'm not sure they were supposed to win that game. Naylor couldn't make 2 plays. They weren't easy though.. Sox Defense >>>Marines defense. And that double steal - who's idea was that!

This is today, already? Good gracious.

ACL games are now 6 innings now? In prior years, the milb link had DSL and ACL scores. I guess things have changed.
  23. That's probably true at this point; Urena's a good example of keeping players moving and getting them up levels to see what they have. 18th ranked prospect (Angels -bottom level farm - 18tth ranked prospect). Anyway, find some young pitching. Much better than paying big for for older pitchers or "Closers." Sox are invigorated with youth; keep it going.
  24. Because 18th ranked is a 3rd/4th tier prospect. Sox need to bring Gonzalez up and find out if he's the real deal. Benintendi can sit for 2 months.
  25. Law has Emerson ranked 5th. The pitcher Flora looks really good. Way better than Hagen Smith looked on paper (innings/start, walk rate), but not Paul Skenes good.
