The Free Agent I want to sign more than any other
As long as Hahn is GM, the Sox will have some stiff like Renteria as manager.

GT - (9/6) White Sox vs Angels, 7:10 pm, NBCSC+
This team and org. is a real piece of work.

FS: Mid-Season Top 30 Prospects FULL LIST
Well they won't out and out release him, but not protecting him (even though there is ample room) will have the same effect.

9/2/19 White Sox @Cleveland MLB Free Game of the Day
Sox not far ahead of KC by the run gap; and well behind Seattle. Plus, look at the 2nd half. This team got decidedly worse.
-
9/2/19 White Sox @Cleveland MLB Free Game of the Day
Only Detroit. This team with all of its org. minor leaguers that the FO insists on playing is really bad.

FS: Mid-Season Top 30 Prospects FULL LIST
This It wouldn't surprise me if they release Mercedes after this season.

9/1- Sox at Braves, 4:10, WGN
Considering that next year is year 4, does this look like a team ready to contend? It should be (with all due respect to the FO excuses and Hahn's outrageous self-serving claim that rebuilds take 7 years). The run differential is worse than teams in year 1 of their rebuild; a mere 12 runs better than the Royals. 20-25% of the roster is populated by certified org. guys. 7 straight losing seasons. A non-effort at the trade deadline. and on and on.

Is Ricky the worst manager in White Sox history?
Renteria is probably not the worst manager in Sox history. But Hahn is neck and neck with Ed Short for the worst GM in Sox history.
-
Sox @ Braves 6:05 CDT NBCSN-CHI Lopez vs Keuchel
This organization a fiefdom. The top priority in this organization is the comfort of Williams, Hahn and Cooper (and probably several others). If they don't win it doesn't matter.

Sox fire Matt Lisle/Matt Lisle quits (?)
It wouldn't surprise me. This is how insular societies operate - and the Sox organization is an insular society.

8/28 White Sox vs Twins GT
There's no reason for him to be here right now along with about half a dozen other awful veterans. This is a dog and pony show.

8/28 White Sox vs Twins GT
I can't get upset with Detweiler...he throws strikes - he gives them what he's got doing the best he can.
-
And That's a White Sox Winner-8/25/19
Great pitching. Jon Jay now has an OPS below that of both Yolmer and Engel. Bring back Cordell, bring up Mercedes...something.

Game Thread 08/23/19 - Players Weekend and Cease Day - Rangers @ Sox
Looking at the individual statistics, the Padres should be a better team than they are. They have 5 effective starting pitchers, 3 effective relievers, and only 2 or 3 holes in the lineup. The Sox need to concentrate on starting pitching in the offseason. Yea Grandal is a better catcher than McCann...but this team has basically 2 sure starters doing into next season.

Jace Fry Paternity Leave
The Knight's bullpen needs the veteran leadership of Santiago.

The game thread
It would be really cool if Cordero is a keeper. He really hadn't pitched worth a hoot since 2016, until he joined the Sox. Detweiler has done pretty well as a starter...not so much as a reliever. Not sure why they insist on switching he and Santiago between the roles. Not sure why Santiago is up at all...if Minaya is all they have in Charlotte, he's still better than Santiago.
-
More "Hahnspeak" on Robert/Madrigal/Collins coming up
What about switching out Skole for Mercedes? Skole has done absolutely nothing on the major league team. Or Santiago for anyone? The pennant race in Charlotte? Good lord.

WSI
I posted at both places for a long time - only suspended at WSI once (remarkable, really). At some point, I think in the 2007-2010 period, some guys, whom I figured were WSI ex-pats, started a new site. I think it was Soxinthecity.net or something like that. It was good site, but fizzled out after a year or 2.

Cordell sent down
Cordell, Engel, whomever....they are all better than and should be on this team before the Rickys' cleanup hitter, Jon Jay.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
Well of course JR did. Join the lifetime contract ranks with Hahn, KW, Cooper and apparently Ricky Renteria. And if Hahn has anything to say about it, Hostetler and Haber too. And as much as Stone is playing house-horse these days, he's probably close too.

Renteria goes on pregame anti-analytics rant
In the image of the GM.

Abreu “as valuable as anything” to Sox: Merkin
Unfortunately he went into a funk in a meaningful month of baseball this year. His numbers aren’t great. Yeah they’re better than whoever they’ll probably call up. But this is a team with numerous organizational minor leaguers not only on the 25 but starting every day. It’s hard to imagine they are this thin at this point. Winning is not happening next year

Abreu “as valuable as anything” to Sox: Merkin
Sure leadership is important. But leadership is organic...you don't force it. If Abreu's time to leave has come, so be it...you don't keep him (or anyone) around for leadership. Someone will take his place. I hear 3rd parties (media, front office) say he's a great leader, but the players?

18Aug #CeaseDay Sox @ Los Angeles Area Anaheim Angels of Asinine Team Names Gamethread
Probably 1/4 of the players on this 25 roster shouldn't be on a major league 40 man roster.

Does Leury Garcia deserve a ‘20 starting spot?
Peak value, such as it is, was in July. They wouldn't get much for him in December. Does he deserve RF? No, of course not. Would I prefer him to signing Ozuna for multiple years - yes; or Dickerson - double yes.
