Vanderbilt vs CS Fullerton 7pm ESPN2
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB 6m6 minutes ago Ceiling is frontline starter. Has that stuff. @SSS_joshnelson: With Fulmer joining the @WhiteSox - what do you think his ceiling is? Sale Rodon Shark Quintana Fulmer EJ, Montas, Danish, Beck in the wings. Staff looks real good to me. Just get some hitters lol Going to have to trade some of those guys to get a decent team, unless one can be built trading everyone but Sale and Abreu. Danish, Beck = pen, but possibly good ones.

Scott Carroll. That wasn't even a serious effort by Hahn. I guess he keeps Prince Robin happy in the clubhouse.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Chris Beck is on the disabled list. I've made the point regarding EJ repeatedly. At least check the disabled list before you suggest pitching the guy please? i.e. any Charlotte starter is preferred to Danks. Use the opportunity to check out other pitchers. With Robin, of course, it's make sure Danks completely blows up and then go back to Scott Carroll.

How is the consistently poor baserunning anything but poor coaching?
-
6/22 at Minnesota Twins
Good gracious - can they go a single game without an out on the base-paths? Worst baserunning team ever. I didn't see the play but usually you can score from 1st on a 2 out double as well (earlier play)

Does Sale deserve better?
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Guy #1 Sale & Samardzija for Schwarber, Castro, Almora and Alcantara. Done. Done? As in Hahn will be done as GM of the White Sox? That doesn't get Sale by himself. And forget all of this flipping stuff. Every time the Sox make a bad trade, I hear "they're going to flip him." Sox don't flip. Nobody flips.

Q trade value
Sox have guys who can field the SS position. That's not what they need to trade for. 3B or OF. Or just good prospects. Catcher in December.

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition
QUOTE (midway @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) This may not be the right place for this, but as frustrated as I am with the Sox play this year there are other teams around that had high expectations going into this year that are playing really horrible. That's true. But the Sox run differential is so bad, that they arguably should have a worse record than they do, based on total play. Take a team like Oakland...they are a game worse than the Sox in the standings, but 103 net runs ahead of the Sox. What turns around - the runs or the standings?

Q trade value
The biggest myth is that Castro is signed to some great contract. $50+million owed is an albatross. Sox should be nowhere near Castro. What they should be doing is working on Alexei trades, because teams could still use him (like the Mets).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 11:18 AM) He's also, for example, 2 years younger than Bryant. For reference, if he was a white sox player, I'd be pissed about them calling him up so early like this. I agree - why are they calling him up now with only 1/2 a season in AA ball that was good, not great?

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) On June 9 2010, the Sox were 25-33, 8 games under .500 same as now. They then went on a 25-5 run to get to 50-38. I know people will say that this team doesn't have that in them, but they would have said the same thing about the 2010 team. I'm not saying I'm expecting it but I'm not going to start looking forward to draft position. It would be nice if they could do that, because this division certainly is vulnerable. The Royals' starting staff is atrocious.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:46 AM) wasnt that due to injury? Well he was injured. But he never had killer numbers past A ball. That said, I'd sure like to see some of our prospects match his .840 OPS in AA, but that's still not elite.

Q trade value
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) Such as a top guy from the Cubs, plus a top guy from another team to get Castro, Castro doesn't get another team's top guy or near-top guy. Inconsistent offense, frustrating defense, $50+ million and 5+ years owed. Lots of other teams to deal with than the Cubs. Schwarber really isn't what the Sox would need as a showcase piece - it's doubtful that he's a catcher, and he would be a serviceable OF. Sox need an outfielder badly, but one who can hit and defend. The Dodgers top 2 are more interesting. Most of these Cubs ideas (Schwarber and one other) are more appropriate for Q.

Buxton never really had those killer numbers in the minors like Springer or Bryant. It may take him a while

Better not look at twitter then. All sorts of proposals from Cubs fans. Can always tell a trade comes from a Cubs fan or Cubs favoring media when the proposal includes Starlin Castro as a key piece.

Kottras for Soto; whatever Flowers isn't, he's better than Soto. Johnson for Shark

6/21 vs Texas Rangers
What a dumb sacrifice. they should know that Ventura always IWs late in the game to set up the double play. They took the bat out of the only decent bottom of the order hitter.

prospective help or waste
Good questions. I think Leury was in Charlotte to get regular ABs to see if he could hit. If he isn't getting regular ABs anymore, then that's about it and his career is as a defensive replacement. Bid a final adieu to Beckham in the next couple of months, and let him take over. Or if you need a temporary Alexei replacement before trying Saladino or whomever. Kottras was always a decent hitter for a catcher. Someone may want Soto for backup help. Even if not, don't see a problem getting him up here. If he can hit, there's a spot for him.

North I hope your friend watched another Charlotte game...it would be interesting to see how EJ looked, pitch clockings, etc.

Q trade value
I usually think that Sox fans underrate their players, but in this case, I think Sox fans overrate the value of Quintana v. how the rest of the league would see him. But all it takes is one motivated trading partner. As for Schwarber, I think the Cubs would trade him for someone of Q's value. The problem is that he may not have a position, Theo's spin notwithstanding. Cubs get a lot of value out of media hype of their prospects. There are other teams to trade with besides the Cubs anyway.

Just a crass salary dump. Terrible Of course the Sox did this with E Jackson, who would have brought back a marginal top 100 prospect like Teahen was, to save $6 mill on Teahen.

2015 White Sox Draft Picks - Updates
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) He's a senior. No leverage. Take the 10k or don't play. Okay - didn't realize things were that hard-nosed. Now was Glines really a 10th round talent; or did they just pick him so that they could get 150K in cap room, essentially punting their 10th pick?

Maybe I missed this but why would Glines sign for 10K, 150K below slot?
