7/18 Games - Fulmer's debut
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Davidson falling off a cliff again. No need to see him on the South Side, now or ever, probably - he'd hit .150, maybe. Give Saladino 3B for awhile. Dude appeared to have some talent at one point. Amazing how little development of hitters ever takes place in this org. Or maybe not so amazing. Davidson may have been a case of poor scouting. how many scouts do the Sox have in the PCL?

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) I think he's better defensively at SS. IMO he'll end up being what we wanted Leury Garcia to be. Well good. Trade Alexei (someone will take a shot with him) and move him in.

7/19 - Royals at White Sox
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) Well ok I stand corrected pitch forks will be at the gate IMO. That shouldn't create near the pitchforks that this team, its play, and its leadership does.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) Hosmer, Infante, and Escobar killed us defensively. Maybe it will be better this week. Cardinals have some distinct defensive holes.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) I disagree. Seems like Sale and Shark usually go 110-120 give or take, Quintana a shade less, Rodon they baby, and Danks well, let's just hope he can go 6. I don't see the problem letting the big 2 go over 100. Nothing wrong that glaringly jumps out at me. But that's me. I guess you're 100 pitch limit guy, which is fine, but I think we have horses that can easily handle a bit over 100. I see a problem sending the big 2 110-120 game after game after game. There's no reason to do it every time. I'm not a pitch limit guy. But in this hot afternoon games, you can give them a break. And the back of the pen isn't that bad and they could use more work. As for Rodon ->100 pitches 7 of the last 10 starts, at least 90 in 9/10 and the one time it was only 69 he gave up 7 ER. I still don't know why they are wasting a year of service time on him, when he doesn't have his command. And I'm also biased because I never saw this team as a playoff team and want to preserve assets until it is.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) Does anybody hit more soft grounders to SS in the league than Avi? Several guys on this team are pretty good at it.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) RV has to go at seasons end has too. Cooper should get high scrutiny, too. And obviously the hitting coach.

7/19 - Royals at White Sox
I've said it all year - Ventura and Cooper have been way overworking these starters. 2nd in the league in starter innings. And the price will be paid in the 2nd half.

Sale's at 100 pitches. Give the guy a break and pull him.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) I have no problem with playing for the tie right there. It's really playing for 1 run. Ordering intentional outs when you're down 2 is silly. Especially when the Royals' pen is the best in the game.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) Saladino can bunt.. that's enough reason for him to stay up here. Calling for a bunt in that situation is reason enough to fire ventura. 2 on no out; heat of the order coming up, and Robbie plays for 1 or 2. managing scared.

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) He already used his option for this year as he was on the 40 man roster before this game. So why would you put a young player on the 40 man as you use an option automatically if he isn't on the MLB team...other than to protect against Rule 5?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) Need a win if not start shipping guys out make Conor just a start. Need a win AND they need to start shipping these guys out

7/19 Games- Adams Promoted
Excellent Myles Jaye going today. He's been a bright spot. Still walks too many, but otherwise looking good.

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
I hope Saladino is more than a utility infielder. If Saladino has a good glove and can hit, he can play 2B for the foreseeable future, unless Micah figures out how to play D or Sanchez learns how to hit.

Gillaspie DFA'd; Albers called up
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) Defense at 3B is not a minor excuse. Yeah Connors bat is maybe slightly above replacement level, but his glove is so bad that you can't start him at 3B anymore. If you can't see that, I digress. Boni has flexibility and Conor has none. I wouldn't have complained of it was Boni not Connor, but I understand the decision. Flexible to do what? .360 OPS? Play below average defense at 3 positions? 1/5 in steal attempts? He isn't replacement value at a single thing. Defense is important, but the Sox are paying high, high price for the defense they get from Sanchez and Beckham (and Bonifacio).

7/18 Games - Fulmer's debut
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) and this yr, if rumors were correct, the pitchers were feed up with his defense or lack of. which made his move to the minor a necessity. too bad he doesn't hit for more power, then moving him to dh would be great. same thing for 1b. offensively he is too good not to play. but he really doesn't have a position that his defense will show a hole. I'm glad the pitchers are happy, but they are paying for it with a sub .500 OPS out of Sanchez. The Sox will give him the year, so if he can pull it up above .600 that will be nice. But in perpetuity, you can't have sub .700 OPS out of 2nd unless that's your only hole. I hope Johnson improves his defense.

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
Saladino may not be the answer...he probably isn't at 3rd (maybe 2nd or short). But he's the best IF the Sox have right now except for Abreu. He doesn't seem to have much power, but he does drive the ball a bit, so he's not depending on his doinkers just slithering through the infield.

Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) maybe you don't, but it does appear that his teammates does. per mlb trade rumors. Depends on how they act out that self-centeredness. As the Dodgers teammates tire of him (per MLB trade rumors) that should mean his price should be depressed. Sox rarely buy at depressed prices (even for depressed players), but if they are of the mind, and the price really is depressed, see if you can do something around Shark. Abreu might be able to keep him straight.

Gillaspie DFA'd; Albers called up
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) Preach it bro! Where you at Hahn?? You should have made a perfect roster like the other 29 teams did. Only team in baseball with holes. Yes, who can question a 73 win team spending $6 million on utility infielders, neither of whom can hit, and one who can neither hit nor defend? What team wouldn't keep a player with a .356 OPS on its 25 man roster? Gillaspie is a better hitter than Beckham or Bonifacio. And he can play 1st.

Gillaspie DFA'd; Albers called up
yep, 2 terrible utility infielders remain. Great roster construction, Hahn.
