Bluejays interested in either Samardzija or Quintana. Sox stand pat...for now.

I'd tell the Jays that the package for Quintana starts with Bautista and that ought to end the call rather quickly.

Q for Norris, Sanchez and Alford.

Im so frightened to move Q...if you bungle the Shark deal, fine...not the end of the world...if you bungle a Q deal...you've just traded away one of your most valuable assets in the midst of a race you have a reasonable chance of winning.

Yes. We need bats for days to trade Quintana. Jays higher end prospects are SP (and one was just traded). They don't match up.

Let's try to realistic here guys. Don't overvalue your team's players. Donaldson >>>> Quintana.

They're not going to move Donaldson anyways.

Problem is, they don't really have a bat that we're going to move Q for...everyone else is too old or too young.

And let's not hero worship either.

He'll also be 30 this year about to get really expensive.

Rather get improvements at multiple positions for Q.

Re Quintana, Hamels WAR since 2013 = 11.4; Quintana = 11.1. Quintana is younger, cheaper and signed til 2020.

Be very careful about trading him.

I don't think the Blue Jays have the ammo for Q after the Tulo deal

Not unless they want to give up Donaldson. Throw in Alexei, move Saladino to SS. Crazy talk for sure, but there has to be some reason they traded for Tulo. They must be planning on giving up a bat here soon.

They absolutely do. It's just a matter of them most likely not wanting to gut the farm system. Norris, Sanchez, Pompey, Pentecost, Reid-Foley, Alford

I think Norris & either Pompey or Pentecost and a smaller prospect for Quintana would be a very good return. Still not keen on the idea of moving a top 20 pitcher, though.

Gahhhh. No.

The only reason to trade Q is for an established hitter. Since he is a cheap stud pitcher, the Sox don't need that. They don't need prospects where you hope one turns into something close to Q. If they trade him, they need to get back someone who hits in the major leagues, and will for a while. Otherwise, it's just trading to trade, and you will almost certainly become worse off.
