  1. Great. We probably won't see Cotts for the rest of the season now.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Keith, it's the former, you are correct. I stay the hell away from the Sports Bar at BHZ. I went in there once in the middle of some Sox-Cubs argument. It wasn't pretty. I talk Blackhawks over there and that's about it, and actually I read over there mostly. I have met several of the people from there ... and you know what Keith, most of the die hard Cub fans wo post on BHZ don't know one hell of a lot about hockey either! Go figure. I really shouldn't get involved, but some of the guys who post there are... well, you know exactly what they are.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Yup. WTF was I thinking, I just looked it up, Tyler Greene and yeah, Khalil is the San Diego guy. Khalil is a good ballplayer, he plays a good SS. So, Jim... a.) Does the draft order go by regular season record or post-season? I thought it was the former. and... b.) When are ya gonna start backing me up in the Sports Bar at BHZ?
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) Who was that with Carl and Willie? ^^^^
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) i think the team that wins it all picks last regardless of their record Didn't Boston pick 24th? I seem to recall the Cardinals taking that Georgia Tech SS (Boras client -- can't think of his name) at (what I thought was) 30th...? Greene is his name, IIRC.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) who said anything about homefield? Why not cap your season with the best record in all of baseball? I'd rather pick 29th in the draft then 30th. I believe it goes by record, though it might switch after the teams make the playoffs...
  7. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) Totally agreed, the kid hasn't had a whole lot of time to sharpen his baseball skills after playing football in college. He's going to learn to take more pitches and improve his OBP while maintaining a high average. If Owens hits .330 or above in a stint of 200+ ABs in the major leagues, I'll eat my shoe.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Way true. Without his velocity, Schilling is very underwealming right now. I wonder how many threads are on Redsoxtalk.com about how Epstein should be fired for not getting more pitching at the trade deadline? No, according to much of those at SoSH, Schilling looked good yesterday... :banghead
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) Couldn't happen to a better organization. Join me, Mike. De_troit_sucks! De_troit_sucks!
  10. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) 12 days till the first preseason game I'll be there... Hopefully being able to find some good seats on BHZ, or student discount.
  11. Rex, is there any chance Chris Getz would get called up to Birmingham for the playoffs? He's clearly better than his competition, but I'm not sure how to judge whether or not now would be an appropriate time...?
  12. New QB for FSU... Lee... and on the first play, they get about 15 yards on a reverse.
  13. Amazing... a .916 OPS in Birmingham. Improvement throughout the whole season. Gotta love it. Our minor league system is finally getting a little more stable. Next year will be huge, however, telling us whether our farm system goes from good-to-great. Two out of Liotta/Broadway/Gonzalez, preferably all three, need to succeed in their shots at Birmingham.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) I don't think Borchard will be in the organization next year. Yeah, but maybe Jim Bowden wants another toolsy OF'er. We'll take the rights to Ryan Zimmerman come next June for JoBo...
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) No, why? Just wondering... Mark Bellhorn was a whiz last night.
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) inning/score? 4-0 W Sox, Top 7, Nobody out, runner on first. Schilling vs. McCarthy.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) He'll be starting at SS. No chance we'll move him from the position where he excels defensively at. It's up to KW to find a 3b who can provide this team some offense. Fathom, did you by chance watch Sunday Night Baseball last night?
  18. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) A week from today - Sept. 12. Oh, nevermind. I was thinking about the Hawks first preseason game which is next Saturday. I can't wait, I'll be there, can't wait to see 'em get on the ice again. I heart Juan.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Daaaaymn... NICE breaking ball BMAC! Kap -- hockey training camp starts what, this Saturday, next Saturday? I'm pumped!
  20. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) All he does is hit homers. MVP is Iguchi, by far. Yep, 'cause homers = bad.
  21. I want to extend an apology for those listening to one person on this earth who's worse than DJ in Rick Sutcliffe.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Carl makes me :headshake Where would he play? No?
  23. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Hooray for crappy defense! Hooray beer!
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) The NESN broadcasters just thought B-Mac's change looked like a screwball. Ed Farmer and John Rooney refer to Santana's slider (or maybe changeup) as a screwball.
