QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) John and Ed have been very, very loud members of the "Don't Boo Magglio" club; they repeat over and over again that people leaving for more money is just how it works. I wonder if Rooney had personal interest in putting such an idea into the heads of Sox fans. WTH are you talking about? So what if he says you shouldn't boo Magglio. It's his opinion. Sure, the whole contract thing didn't end the way it should have, but Magglio gave us what, five, six years of an All-Star caliber RFer. If he feels that people shouldn't boo Magglio, he certainly has a right to say it.

Where will Sox will rank in minor league talent?
CWSGuy406 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in FutureSox Board
Owens /= impact outfielder. His OBP is BA heavy, and he doesn't for a whole lot of slugging. He'll have to hit .300 to be effective. Can he do it? He might, but even if he does, I doubt his line will be much better than .300/.350/.375... -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) I think the GO, GO, GO, chants got in his head. When Scott is on first, the "Go" chant = 'da bomb'. When Scott is on second, with two outs and Pudge behind the plate, the "Go" chant = 'teh suck'.

I think Neal Cotts needs to wave some big pink panties to get Ozzie to realize he's still down there in the bullpen...

7-3 TWINS! Redmond hit a liner to the track in RF, and it bounced off of Casey Blake's glove!!! Three runs score!
-
Bases loaded for Minny, one out... 4-3 Twinkies... Update coming. Castro whiffs.
-
Going to the bottom of the 7th in Minny, 4-3 Twins.

Pablo makes a nice play, and I'm happy. I switch over to MLB Extra Innings to see Shannon Stewart with a HUGE, two out, bases loaded single driving in two. 4-3 Twinkies!!!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 04:44 AM) My 1 little bitty worry is this...I always feel more comfortable having at least 1 starting pitcher sitting out in the bullpen in case we hit like 19 innings. But in Fenway, against the Red Sox bullpen, we shouldn't have to worry about that, right? Timo will pitch. He can do everything...

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) Because Ozzie wanted a long reliever so he didn't have to use Viz, Politte, Cotts, Jenks, Marte, and Hermanson too much. That is the right decision if you ask me. Gload's numbers were impressive....IN THE MINORS! http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/6560...04&type=Batting

Thanks, SB. He might not even be redshirted. I had heard that he got in some trouble with the law, but never really found out if it was true or not. -

Badger, I don't know how much you follow Wisconsin football, but do you know if Deion Foster (I think that's his name) is going to get any PT this year? He's a freshman running back out of Illinois... -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 06:04 AM) So when you were always talking about Bellhorn's OBP, why didn't you mention his .360 SLG? (less than Uribe's) I don't think I've ever made a push for Bellhorn to start. I would have liked to see him in a role against LHP. He's been bad this season, no doubt, but over his career he's slugged .478 against lefties. And, as a bench player, his .324 OBP in what has so far been a down year would still rank second on the Sox bench.

Ozuna = garbage vs righties. Nice to see Harris swinging the bat a little better. And, I would've liked to see the squeeze there (with Podsednik), but oh well...

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) I wonder what kind of effect this will have on the airline industry. No doubt prices will go up--but I wonder if there will be any other long term consequences. I've heard most airlines only have enough gasoline for the next two-three weeks...

Top 5, 4-0 Sox. Nobody out. Contreras vs. the number four hitter, Ordonez.
