QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:06 AM) Figures. Can't hit it any harder than that. What an unlucky streak the last few days. Unlucky? Bad baserunning. We got lucky that Molina hit one right at JD earlier, too. It evens out. -

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) You dont walk a guy with nobody on and two out. I dont care if his name is Baby Ruthe Or Babe Ruth, for that matter. But Baby Ruthe, yeah, you damn well better pitch to him! -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) This is exactly where Buehlre needs to shut the Angels down. Nothing shifts momentum in a game and deflates you club like a pitcher giving up a lead immediately after scoring. Damn. -

I deserved to be smacked for all the bad things I said about Konerko earlier in the season... :banghead -

I wanna see B-Mac down the stretch. I don't care if he's a rookie... you shut down two of the best offenses in all of baseball, at their places, too, then you deserve another shot. If Ozzie doesn't give him another start, he's hurting the team -- IMO. -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) They just doubled our hit total from yesterday. We can't string hits together. According to DJ, we can. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) :finger It's a double edged sword. Because of the HD, I'm forced to listen to Hawk and DJ. And during football season, I can't listen to Joniak/Thayer. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) I f***ing hate WCIU, they're blatant lack of an HD channel pisses me off to no end. ^^^^ Once you watch games in HD, the regular screen looks awful. Anyone know/remember last night's attendance? -
What I learned in school today... -George W. stole a Christmas wreath for his fraternity at Yale. What a doof. -George W. was a cheerleader at his high school, the name I forget. It starts with an 'A'. Adelmine? -George W., at a wedding, devised a plan to push the groom and his father into the pool. The father was a pretty important person, too, though I don't recall his name... (??) -George W. had something like a 3.0 GPA at Yale, which was much lower than guys like John Kerry's (sp?). Bear with me if you already knew this, I found it sort of funny.

I've been quiet, and just wanted to say this: If, on October 23rd, while sitting ten rows from the Bears sideline against the Ravens, I still see Thomas Jones as the starting running back, that's probably not a good thing. He's serviceable, but not the guy who's going to put the team on his back and carry 'em. I'm not saying Benson can do that this year, but he was drafted fourth. I don't care that he's missed much of the preseason. I'm hoping by week three or week four, he's getting at least ten touches per game.

I asked if you guys would like something like this, and there was at least one person who liked the idea. Rather than several different threads about it, put any AL related race stuff in here -- that way, posts won't get lost in the ATM thread already pinned. And damn, there are some extremely good races. As we sit today... In the East -- Boston leads New York by four games. In the West -- LAoA leads Oakland by a half a game, a game in the loss column. And, in what will definitely be the best race of the three, the Wildcard -- New York leads Cleveland by a half a game (one in the L column), Oakland by a game and a half (two in the L column), and Minny by five and a half (six in the L column). Any information pertinent (sp?) to these races, injuries, exciting game finishes, etc etc, put it in here. If it's really important and you feel it deserves it's own thread, go ahead and do so, and a couple days later, I'll just merge it with this one. And, if this idea sucks, just don't post in here, and I'll un-pin it within a week or two.

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) You're not gettin my seats :finger Hell, I'm just happy that you guys gave us Detroit. And Colorado, too. No b****ing here. -
Damaso... :headshake

Marte is a LOOGY here. Or so I hope. One guy, get him out (hopefully), then hand it to Dustin.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Indians won 4-1 on a complete game by C.C., who's been on fire lately. As well as Cleveland is playing right now, if we go .500 the rest of the way, the division is still (probably) ours. This weekend was absolutely huge. We shaved what, five, six games off that magic number?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) 2 pitches, 2 outs to end the inning. Both hit the ball somewhat hard, and, if AJ got the job done, both Pods and Harris' balls would've gotten Dye in. That's dissappointing. Should I email Hawk and see what he says if I ask him about Beane for Executive of the Year?
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Hmph...I just noticed this... We have Bill Welke and Tim Welke as umps this series...are those 2 brothers? I believe so.

Where will Sox will rank in minor league talent?

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) I'd mostly agree, but I know a lot of people around here last year back-slapping each other about how well the Sox did in 2004. Can anyone think of a player from the 2005 Sox draft class that had the kind of debut Gio did last year? No one really stood out, and some of the top picks kind of stumbled, with Broadway leading the way (I know he was overused, etc.). I think that the guys from that draft who people who are still looking at are Whistler, Lumsen, Liotta, Russell, Fields, and Lucy. I'm sure there's a couple others I'm missing, but when I say "look at", I don't necessarily mean they had good seasons/are considered good prospects, just that people... I don't know, still 'like' (for lack of a better word) them. But yeah, if no one besides Liotta or Gio can step up and have a good season next year, that draft might look pretty ugly. -

The Hawks will have one homegame televised, that being the Pittsburg game. So, Sidney Crosbey in HD will be a nice treat incase I don't get tix to the game. About ten days till the Hawks open at home. Can't f***in' wait... -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Is it possible in a few years to have almost our entire pitching staff comprised of homegrown talent other than Garland? MB, Garland, BMAC, Gio, Liotta? Liotta has to... a.) Start pitching around his fielder's mistakes a little better. 13 unearned runs is a little high... and b.) Start striking some more guys out, or walking less guys, 'cause his 2.8 K/BB ratio leaves a lot to be desired. That being said, he must be doing something right to have an ERA around 2.00 this year in A-ball. I'm just a little more reserved on him...

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) I have a new nickname for Damaso... "The Choke"... it's catchy and represents what he's all about... Seriously Ozzie needs to stop using him in close games... Cotts has proven himself this year to be so much better... last I checked this isn't 2002... How clever... :rolly 16. -
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) Yeah, lets piss on Cotts and his 1.84 era. If Ozzie used him at all lately he would realize he is one of the most dominant pitchers we have on the staff. But hey, lets use him like a moron as a situational lefty. Unbelievable. ^^^^ One of the best relievers in all of baseball this season, and he's a f***ing LOOGY.
