  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) you guys are just uncultured I thought you were gonna make a cornhole joke...
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Ugh... go eat some cotton candy. ... Or, Steve, some of that corn in the paper plate that they sell behind home plate.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) MARTY PARTY FACING A LEFTY. SO HE WALKS HIM THANKS FOR BEING STUPID MARTY, WHY CANT YOU THROW A STRIKE TO A LEFTY. WHAT IS THE DEAL. DUSTIN IS IN INSTEAD OF JENKS SO WHERE IS THE 2 RUN GAME WINNING HOMER GOING TO GO. I PREDICT LEFT CENTER. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT!!!
  4. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) The thing that ticks me off is that Garland is out of there because the Twins worked the count giving up at-bats to tire him out. The Sox inability to work a count and tire a pitcher is disgusting. Garland would throw 16 pitchers to 3 batters, Silva would throw that to 7. This is what is killing this team offenesivly. Major League pitchers are there for a reason, they can pitch, you need to work them, especially if they are not power guys. Am I wrong??? Yup -- The Twins tired Jon out to get him out with only one and a third outs left to get in the game... :rolly
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) I dont understand it. Does Ozzie understand how hard it is to adjust to 100 mph heat. Jenks would probably get the first two out before anyone on the twins times him. Then he breaks off a curve and they are done. I dont get it. Well, Ortiz didn't think it was too hard...
  6. Helluvan outing, Jon! ChiSoxy -- 1-0 Sox, Bottom 8th, Two out, nobody on.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Its nice to see we are dancing again with less than 2 runs. The pitchers probably want to get bats to beat the crap out of our hitters. CAN WE ACTUALLY SCORE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, OR ARE WE GOING TO HOLD ON A 1 RUN LEAD. We need to fight again... b****. And, fathom, Iguchi wouldn't have made the play either. Slow chopper up the middle, even a throw right on the money and he would've been safe.
  8. At least Rowand hit the ball hard. That's his best swing since his homer off of RJ...
  9. QUOTE(BMAC3520 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:15 AM) Wait... is that me on the right or on the left? I'm offended if it's me getting my ass kicked. Unfortunately... the rest of the pic is pretty accurate. Best of luck against Texas, Brandon, along with whatever else this September brings you. I'm sure that the Sox will need a start or two down the stretch from you. Again -- best of luck!
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Where do you put Liotta then? I'm not as high on Liotta as others are. Like Cheat said, age is a factor, but the reasons I'm shaky are... a.)Has given up 11 unearned runs so far. Obviously, not all of them are his fault, but that's still a pretty high number. b.)His K-rates aren't very good. He continues his success at Birmingham, then I'll hop on the bandwagon.
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 05:08 AM) It's the best thing out there, but it's underground now. The only thing you'll be able to find on the net is 2000-2003 data. Not exactly useful. Do they have a link to how it's measured, who made it up, stuff like that, over at the BTF wiki page?
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 05:06 AM) Bulls***. Pokey was a folk hero last season. Cheat, I don't know how much stock you put into 'mgl', but didn't he say that UZR had Bellhorn at about average defensively at second? Or, slightly above?
  13. QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:14 AM) I'm going on Friday Ditto. Going to the Ravens game. 17 rows from the Bears sideline, 45 yard line. Going to the Packers game, first time I will sit in the Bears sideline upper-deck.
  14. Was Wing a waiver pick-up? If so, he has to be on the 40-man, correct?
  15. If he finishes as strong as he's been pitching lately, he moves up to second for me. All, IMO: 1.)McCarthy 2.)Haigwood 3.)Gonzalez 4/5.)Broadway/Tracey
  16. Along with the milk, try eating one slice of bread in thirty seconds. Seems easy, but I couldn't do it. You have absolutely no saliva, and it you can't swallow. And, I mean chewed and swallowed, not just put the whole thing in your mouth...
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) Remember, it's a hell of a lot easier to trade a player with one year left on his contract. I'll say this: in a way, I'm happy that Gload isn't putting up a season this year like he did last year. I would never want the Sox to even consider him for the starting 1b position to start the season. He should, however, be on the major league roster. No reason that a bat like his is in AAA...
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) I'll be shocked if Contreras isn't traded this offseason. We need to free up some payroll, and many teams will be willing to invest in Contreras with one year left on his deal. You don't think a team like the Reds wouldn't give him a shot to be their best pitcher? I was actually thinking about Milwaukee. I think Overbay will be right at the top of the Sox' radar this offseason. I'd love to see Overbay and Mueller brought in next year for the corners, but that's a long way off. Rack 'em up!
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) Big deal. I'm not worried about rookie pitchers dominating right away for a full season. Where's our rotation next season with McCarthy? Good point, and McCarthy is dominating at Charlotte. I don't know what's going to happen next year. If Contreras finishes the season on a rush, I'd tend to think his trade value would be at a peak -- I assume he'll finish the season with an ERA around 4.00, and for $6 million bucks, that's a good deal. It's pretty much Buehrle/Garcia/Garland, and after that... we'll see.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) Hey hey....way to go Dye. Mays is really a liability for the Twins. I won't be surprised if this was his last start for them this year. Baker has got to give them a better chance to win. Who cares though, he was exactly what this team needed. Next year's rotation? Santana - Radke - Silva - Liriano - Baker...
  21. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) It's called a Timoment. (how do I add the trademark symbol?) I think "( t m )" works, without the spaces. And, "& t r a d e ;" works on SSS, not sure if it works here.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Just got the game on. Who hit the homer for the Sox? Jurassic.
  23. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Johnny Gomes would look good in LF for the Sox. Have Pods be DH. I would've liked Jorge Cantu or Julio Lugo from Tampa Bay...
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Well, if we were complaining about the Sox going out to a 2-0 early lead, it would show that we're not really Sox fans. You want a complaint, fine: Dye and Rowand continue to suck, and Timo is a disgraceful leadoff man. Is that better? Nope, not pessimistic enough.
  25. WHAT THE f***?!?!?!? WICKMAN BALKS, AND NO CALL!!! WHAT THE f***!??!?!?1
