The question so obvious that noone thought to ask
CWSGuy406 replied to jackie hayes's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
My wish becomes shattered as each hour passes, but that doesn't mean I can't hope for it to still happen: Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas. I've heard a con that has scared me from just about every player that has been discussed (the majority of the time) for the Bears fourth pick. And I can't shake the Ray Lewis comparisons out of my mind. For a second, dream of a LB core of Briggs-Urlacher-Johnson. Now, go back to dreams of whoever you want. -
Kiper on top draft picks/Bears

Badger, you like Caddy over Benson? Care to explain why? Most people I've seen (maybe) like Brown over Benson, but I don't think I've seen anyone who likes Caddy over Benson. (And I hope I don't come off as an asshole in the post, I just would like your reasoning behind it. This is one draft where I'm dumfounded on who I want the Bears to take, and I want all the opinions I can get on the matter) -

Right on, Addy. I'll trust your judgement. I'm still hoping somewhat gets a last minute rush of giddi-ment (hey, a new word! ) and offers a couple of first-rounders for #4, and we're able to grab to talents, but whatever. I really can't see the Bears making a pick that I'm mad about. Edwards, Williams, Brown, and Benson all seem to be logical choices, with Johnson and Rolle trailing defensively (though it really looks like the Bears are gonna go RB/WR). I think the only way I'd be mad is if they took Rodgers/Smith... -

Am I the only one who likes Williams more than Edwards? -
Awful Experience at Sox Park (Cellular Field)

Jim, I agree with everything you said in this thread. When I get hungry during a game, (most times) I have enough self-restraint to wait till the half inning is over. Even if I don't, I wait till the pitch/play/AB is over, and get up the stairs as quickly as possible -- looking back, and if a pitch is going on, I crouch even lower. And when I come back with my food, while I don't like standing -- I usually wait till the pitch, and while crouching a bit, come back with my food. I don't think it's that hard to do, and usually you won't get yelled at by the other fans if you're making an attempt to not obstruct their view. Then again, I'm proud to say that my parents were pretty good at teaching me good manners. I've been to enough Blackhawk/RedWing and Blackhawk/Blues games to know that I'm gonna anger a whole lot of people if I get up while the puck is in play. I find all of this no big deal, just common manners/respect, but on half-price nights, I think a lot of that is brought to a low level (for whatever reason -- and that's not a shot at anyone here). As far as smoking, I was at the game on Monday, and a lady in our section was smoking, and security was quick to get her out of her seat and back onto the concourse. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Plaske did nothing but bash the dodgers in the offseason. He knows baseball. :rolly Yeah, the Dodgers are totally crumbling without Paul Lo Duca's heart... :rolly

LOL! Plachske is a f***ing moron. He says we finally have a team to fit our ballpark, a team of speed and defense. Does he know how much of a hitter's park the Cell is? If you're gonna defend our team, do it correctly. That guy is about as bad as Mariotti. Such a dumbs***.

If Hendry wants to give up Guzman for Ozuna... Ok, time for me to wake up now. :banghead

The "Trade for another shortstop!" rants have begun on ESPN 1000 and The Score. Who can they really get, though? I can only think of Polanco... Harry from M-J-H (duh) suggested they trade for Izturis (sp?) from the Dodgers. I just about drove off the road when I heard that. Yeah, Harry, I'm sure the Dodgers are going to sell off their starting, young shortstop... :headshake :rolly

LEWWWW! wins it with a seeing-eye single, 10-9. Thanks, KC. :headshake

STRUCK HIM OUT!

MacDougal has a 2-2 count, bases loaded, two outs. Just got home, and it's on MLB E-I. Come on Mac!

Game Thread 4-21 Sox .vs. Detoilet
CWSGuy406 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but can someone do PBP? I'm at school, so it'll only be for a one hour (actually, 40 minutes) that I can see/watch the game. Any help is appreciated. -
I'm gonna merge this with the Padres thread I started...

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 02:41 AM) Of course he looked good.......it was garbage time for chrissakes. Isn't that Neal's job? I consider him the 'mop-up' reliever on our staff, he's the guy who's supposed to give ya those innings in the blowout games -- whether or not we're the team that's doing the blowing out. He's better than anything we have at AAA, too. And don't even say Walker...

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) They wear a Camo jersey every year for a few games to honor the US Servicemen. San Diego is a big port town and has a Naval base. Oh, OK. If it's in honor of the US, that's fine, no problem with it. I just thought it was a third jersey, that they came up with out of the blue.

I don't know how many of you have the MLB Extra Innings Package, but if you do, turn on the Pads/Dodgers game. The Padres are wearing their alternates, and I'll see if I can find a pick of them. They're pretty ugly. The top is a camouflage jersey, and the bottoms are sand-tannish. Gimmie a minute to see if I can find a pic...
-
Ouch. I can't help but feel bad. That looks painful as hell...

Stairs grounds out. Twinkies win. 5-4.
-
Berroa, grab some bench. Two outs in the ninth. 5-4 Twinkies. Matt Stairs at the plate.
-
Marrero swings at strike three, a pitch that was just about eye level... :headshake
-
Shannon Stewart got a bases loaded single to break the tie. 5-4 Twinkies, Nathan in. I'll keep ya posted, I'm watching it on MLB Extra's.

An odd but not unheard of stat is a guy having a lower OBP than BA... (Looks for examples)
