  1. Patterson strikes out the side to lead off the game. 'As Jesus Jr. takes the hill'....
  2. And BTW, Dusty Baker is an absolute moron. Jose Macias leading off? What a f***ing joke. And Patterson still hitting third? Feast away, Chris Carpenter!
  3. I agree. We're drawing huge, and that's not even talking about the half-price nights. If Loaiza continues to suck, he can go get his money elsewhere. I'll be happy enough with a rotation of Garcia-Buehrle-FA Pitcher (hopefully)Garland-Diaz/Cotts. But you know what? Screw next year. Let's worry about this year.
  4. f*** YEAH! Is anyone else watching BBTN Live from Busch Stadium? They showed the Sox/Mariners highlights, and I guess it was shown over the jumbotron, and the crowd went absolutely nuts after the Sox win. It seems that the Cardinal fans love the Sox - I personally love the Cards too. Go Cards! Kick some ass, and get out the brooms tonight!
  5. I thought this would be a nice idea to get an overall opinion of the team halfway through the season: Starting Pitching: B-. Considering that our park is such a hitters park, I figure that the ERA's are going to be pretty high. But in the first half, we got some nice surprises, including a good start from Scotty S, Buerhle being his usual solid self (except for a few games), Garland has stepped it up pretty big, and my confidence is really growing with him, Garcia is a nice anchor for the staff, and Loaiza has been, well bad. We even got a few nice starts from Diaz and Rauch. Overall, a B-, hopefully that will improve over the second half. Bullpen: B. Wow - what a 180 change. From sitting on the edge of our seats, having heart attacks and grabbing for the Tums first-half, to a sit-back, relax, and watch Shingo shut it down second-half. Shingo has been - I can't even describe it, awesome. Marte has been solid, and Politte, other then a bad stretch. Adkins has been a pleasant surprise, Cotts has usually been hit-or-miss, providing both good and bad outings, and Mike Jackson - well, at least he was good early in the season. I really think Kenny needs to go out and get one more guy, righty or lefty, to provide setup for Shingo. Overall a B, I really can't complain. Offense: B+. It will take too long to describe each player individually, but overall our offense has been solid. You really can't ask for much more. I'd like to see more consistent five-seven run games as opposed to ten one night and two the other, but again, I really can't complain. This offense mashes the ball, and usually when we need a sac bunt, we can get it done. Here's to a little more 'Ozzieball' in the second half. Defense: A. What a pleasant surprise our offense has been. I remember Opening Day at the Cell when Uribe dropped that flyball in shallow right; and I remember Jose's early slump of not being able to field easy balls, but other than that (and a few Ross Gload dropped flies), they've been solid. Everyone always knocks our defense, but I consider our defense very solid. Very good infield (defensively), our outfield is very solid too. A catcher with a better throwing arm behind the plate would be nice (cough Kendall cough ), but a nice job by our D. Coaching: A. Hear me out before some of you cough up your beer on the screen and laugh at me. IMO, any mistakes Ozzie makes, like putting in a reliever in the wrong situation, an odd lineup, he makes up for in his desire and fire in this team. He wants to win - and he knows we want to win too. I can think of multiple games that last years team would not have won (the Tampa Bay game and the Anahiem game a few days ago). This year, we were supposed to be bottom dwellers in the AL Central. The Royals were supposed to be better than us, the Twins were supposed to be better than us, hell, some had the Indians better than us. And I know a lot of you, if I said that we'd be in first at the AS Break, would go nuts. That's why I give this team an A. Now - Ozzie - keep this team on a roll, and go get that AL Central Title. Everything in our front office has also improved IMO, from the marketing, to the management (Kenny), hell, even ownership is slowly starting to budge. All I'll say is this - a playoff appearance this year does a lot down the line. Overall, I'm happy where we are going into the break. We're one or two pieces away, but we're close. And the upcoming 20 days are going to be very exciting and interesting - we know Kenny is going to get us another player, we just don't know who. Well - I'm interested on everyone elses thoughts as well. Sorry for the length of the post - feel free to make my post look small by making your post twice the size as mine.
  6. I was there - had a great time. Saw the Shingo entrance for the first time. The crowd embraces and absolutely loves the guy. Every person in the UD were on every pitch of his. Nice job El Caballo with that web-gem - a great play. Nice job Freddy. Not a great pitched game, but he got the job done! Nice job Marte! Nice setup job! Nice job Rowand, Uribe, Valentin! And to close it out, NICE JOB SHINGO! ! FIRST PLACE f***ING WHITE SOX!
  7. Gamestop in Orland said they'd have them on Monday, so I'll be at the store 9:55 AM, waiting for the store to open. That's how much I want this game.
  8. BUMP! One day till it comes out. I cannot friggin' wait!
  9. Holy s*** Socks get over the f***ing trade already. s***. Your last ten posts have been about the trade. Get over it - better yet, become a Mariner fan if you love those two so damn much, Sorry if the post is a bit odd, I've had a little drinky-drinky tonight.
  10. I'll be heading out there tomorrow. Lately they haven't been winning since I've been attending games (I think the last two or three), but hopefully the Sox will be able to break that streak. Should be fun. Freddy Garcia on the hill, hopefully another huge crowd. GO SOX!
  11. Hell, let Minny pick him up. That way we won't have to deal with Guzman. He'd be a nice bat off the bench, if that. But no, I don't want him.
  12. The more contract we eat, the lesser of prospects. I'm thinking if we took on the whole contract (I'm not suggesting doing this), that we wouldn't have to give much more than a bag of balls. Pitt really wants this contract off their hands. He's a hell of a player, just with too big of a contract.
  13. Woah woah woah - thanks for catching that sox-r-us. Meant to put a 'not' in there somewhere, thanks for catching that. Me gets the big fat stupid sign...
  14. For those of you who follows Dave Wills: The Trifecta today. White Sox Winner, Cub loser, and a Twinky Loser!
  15. Interesting. Earlier in the game (when the Tigers were up), this flag up in the Twinky dome wasn't waving at all. Now it's moving like there's wind behind it. The Tiger announcers have been pointing it out for the whole series now...
  16. I'm happy with the fact that all three of our catchers are known to call a good game behind the plate. I'm happy with that. Now - Davis plays the best defense. Sandy calls the best game and probably has the best stick. And Burke calls a good game, and is OK all the way around. I'd like to be talking about Jason Kendall as one of our catchers in the near future, too. That would make the loss of Olivo a lot less painful. Not to mention add a good stick, great plate-disciplined, good contact, good defensive catcher to our team.
  17. No one else wants to make it so I guess I will! The box score sure does look ugly, but all that counts is the W. Nice game pitched by Buehrle, Shingo closin' the door, and PK knockin' in two of the three RBIs. Bring the brooms tomorrow fellas. Go get 'em Freddy!
  18. The complexion of this team is just so different with Maggs in the lineup. I know I've been one of the people pretty adament on not resigning Maggs on a 65 million dollar payroll, but my mind is changing, in a way. Our team is just so much better with Maggs in the lineup. I just don't know anymore, and I'm glad that I'm *not* in Kenny's shoes right now. He has a tough six month stretch coming up, but a lot of that can be solved by a winning team. As for giving a standing O for Maggs - regardless of the contract situation, I will always cheer Maggs the loudest. He's that good of a player.
  19. Hah - great minds think alike. Or is the media in Chicago that predictable?
  20. Tommorow's headlines: CUBS SWEEP SOX last weekend and lose today..
  21. I can honestly say I was a Cardinal fan before my Sox alliance. I remember going to a Cubs/Cards game, and this guy behind me gave me his Cardinal hat. It was so cool. Plus - for two years in a row, Teeball and whatever is after teeball, I was on the Cardinals. The Cubs are in serious trouble if they don't pick off a true leadoff man before the deadline. Right now, they really don't have a true leadoff man. Grudz and Walker and Patterson are all nice players, but not really leadoff men. Of course, their pitching will win them a lot of games - but I dunno about their lineup. Really, really streaky.
  22. If Buehrle isn't going to the all-star game, there will be absolutely no reason for me to watch. I don't even care that Loaiza is going, considering he doesn't even deserve to go...
  23. If Loaiza wants to be considered our number 3, he needs to be able to show some signs of being able to take on a good offensive team. Garland has already shown his flashes, taking down Minny last weekend. Plus - we all know it's all mental with Jon, as opposed to Loaiza, we don't know if he is going to regain that three-four MPH that he's lost on his fastball/cutter. Frankly, I don't know about Loaiza.
