QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) I chalk it up to Tatis starting to break out. If the Sox knew he had the potential to be a top 100 prospect no way they deal him in the Shield's trade. Yep. Guys like him are the reason prospect people here including myself advocate taking lower level guys with upside in deals (like Frazier potential deals for example). Those prospects are like free lottery tickets.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) Which is exactly what Adolfo has gotten for the most part, with identical numbes. And being nearly two and a half years older...
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) This is an interesting factoid. Jeff Long @JeffLongBP Very impressed with Lucas Giolito so far tonight. Don't let his numbers fool you. Jon Roegele‏ @MLBPlayerAnalys Jul 8 Jon Roegele Retweeted Jeff Long Always wondered if he was rushed back after TJ surgery. Had the 4th fastest return time to same level/higher of the 400+ pros I've tracked. Fastball was 92-94 as well which is a bit higher than earlier in the season. That cut slider he's throwing this year has been a nice weapon for him.
  4. So Zack Burdi got pulled from the game with an apparent arm issue.. Yikes.
  5. QUOTE (ypres @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 06:53 PM) Eh, I'd rather our divisional rival be on the books for the money and not adding good/decent prospects to their terrible farm system. Especially the douchey one. Seriously. I'm getting tired of teams helping Detroit out with their s***ty contracts. I'm still pissed about them getting out of that Fielder contract years ago.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) Clark has shown the last two years his hit tool is mediocre He would be a terrific 3rd piece. Fits the OBP philosophy Hahn and company are aiming at.
  8. Houston putting up 19 runs to Toronto's 0...
  9. Sheets with his first RBI in Kannapolis.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) Pint is getting touched up a bit in A ball and walks a lot of guys. He's 19 freaking years old and has immense upside. I'd absolutely love him in a Q deal. As the headliner, no, but guys with his stuff don't grow on trees. Would love to see what the sox staff can do with him. Maybe they'll see a mechanical flaw.
  11. Love Hawk calling out the defensive woes of this team. Even the young talent coming up aren't exactly defensively stellar at all.
  12. Some impressive history Lester just joined.. in a bad way.
  13. Said it earlier, but Smith has had one hell of a night framing pitches.
  14. OT: But Austin Beck just got his second professional hit, 1st XBH and 1st 3 RBIs. Now 2/25, 13 SOs on the season.
  15. Alright DRob, let's raise that trade value and get this win.
  16. Why the hell would you throw Anderson a fastball when you made hin look silly with breaking pitches? Terrible pitch selection there.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 11:03 PM) Hansen was out there because Renteria was trying to play NL baseball with a team built for the AL and the DH. It was a poor fielding play for sure Yup. If sox lose this game, you can definitely say it was a managing loss.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) Cafardo's column today said Sox are hoping to trade him (along with like ten others) I doubt they trade him, especially with Moncada not in the bigs yet. And I think Willy makes that play in RF. Kahnle facing his old team... kind of expected this.
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:35 PM) Swarzak/Kahnle/Robo and call it a game. It's a win even the pro tank people shouldn't mind. Those three having good outings is a win in all aspects. Barring a couple of errors, I want those guys putting up zeros.
  20. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:18 PM) Call me crazy, but I think this was a very positive outing for Q. His curve was nasty, he got squeezed a little, and his defense let him down a couple times. I would have to think scouts were happy with what they saw, regardless of the boxscore. Dude had 10 K's and solid enough velocity.. that's gonna make alot of scouts raise their eyebrows (in a good way).
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:11 PM) Oh come on Melky. What a terrible defender. Great start quickly going quite poorly Let's hope Hahn and company are taking notes that drafting bats only guys won't exactly cut it in the future.
