QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) So is Ladd going to take 61? I would hope Kruger gives him his number. This is different than Versteeg/Roszival since Ladd is the veteran guy here. (And more popular with the fan base)

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
Cubs are freaking loaded. Was saying all winter I don't know why they don't play one of, if not the best defensive RF in the game at his natural position. Cubs went from below average to above average defensively with just one move. Incredible.

As It Stands
They're in the same position as us. They need defense to back up their pitching. Still though, Carrasco, Salazar, Kluber and Bauer is one hell of a front four. Brantley is better than any of our outfielders alone and Lindor is the friggin goods. Still have weaknesses though just like any Central team, including Kansas City.

White Sox sign Jimmy Rollins
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) In the new BP, one of their writers wrote a break up letter to WAR. It was pretty interesting. His jist was WAR is still good, there is just some things WAR cannot measure like leadership, that he thinks is important. It was a pretty clever letter. There's a reason Rollins can be had for a minor league contract. We all know it. But, what does it hurt to see what he's got? The cost is right. At the very least, it keeps Saladino on his toes this spring. Maybe Rollins makes the team and does well. Maybe he makes the team and he sucks. Maybe he doesn't make the team. We will see, but there is zero harm, and perhaps being around him in the spring does the younger guys some good. Great post DA.

2015-16 NHL thread
So this happened last night.. https://youtu.be/9K_5WW6Rh50 Wonder if anyone has ever seen (or done that if you played) in a game before. If anyone doesn't know, that's Craig Smith of the Predators. He once lifting the puck up and out of play. Seems like that guy has a habit of missing tap ins.

Tony Phillips Dead
QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) Sorry to hear that. He was crazy as hell but I liked him while on the Sox. People forget how good of a player he was. Would be very valuable in this era than he was when he played. Pretty much the 90's Ben Zobrist.

OF Options
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 20, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) A potential fit is Coghlan if the Cubs end up bringing back Fowler. Would freaking love Coghlan. Dude was pretty much Alex Gordon in LF last season. Dunno if it was an outliner though, but he would still improve the sox defensively. (and offensively)

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 10:38 PM) https://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba-trade-dea...-023959300.html Later from Woj and Mannix: Gasol and Snell to Kings for Koufos, McLemore, and lowering the restrictions on 2016 1st rounder. That'd be a nice deal for the Bulls. What the hell is Gar Pax waiting for?

Just a damn shame Bobby Orr's knees didn't cooperate. Can you imagine what his numbers would've been like for a defenseman? Mind boggling.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 07:09 AM) The only other player I can think of that dominated an era like Wayne is Babe Ruth in the 20's. Wilt Chamberlain was another.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 08:18 AM) The Kings certainly aren't dissatisfied with their last 6 seasons, but 6 playoff appearances, 14 series wins and 3 cups is still better than 5 playoff appearances, 10 series wins and 2 cups. Not disagreeing there. Just saying the Kings can at least "not be as jealous" as the other 28 teams.

QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 09:45 PM) We are fans of a franchise that literally 29 other teams would trade places with right now. It won't get better than this. Meh.. maybe 28. I don't think the Kings mind their last few years either.

Desjardins has no business being on the third line. I guess the fans who played good money for this one at least saw the Sharp and Oduya tributes. Well deserved though, especially for Sharpie.
