  1. Thompson is trying to pitch around Abreu and he's helping him out.
  2. If it wasn't for Drabek blowing up his ERA, Jennings has been solid so far.
  3. Barnum with a nice start so far this season.
  4. Poor LaRoche. Got new life and is still striking out at a ridiculous pace so far.
  5. Melky is looking better. Now your turn Eaton...
  6. Jaime Benn's Art Ross win was even more of a theft. The match ups are set. The fact that the Blues and Wild are playing each other is fantastic.
  7. God it feels good to see this thread again. Shocked Mike didn't make it.
  8. Liked the Eaton - Melky - Avi jump celebration there.
  9. Robertson just throws strikes. We actually have a competent closer!
  10. Wow.. Since February 18th, Ottawa went 22-3-2 to clinch a playoff berth and knocked out the Penguins or the Bruins depending on their games tonight. Amazing.
  11. Hawks have to open up on the road regardless. But they have a choice to get a point/win the next game and play Nashville or lose/rest guys and draw either the Blues or the Ducks. I know who I'd want if I was in Q's position, but I'm curious to hear what others think..
  12. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) We will probably win tomorrow since everyone expects a loss. Wouldn't surprise me if Danks out pitches Shark and Q. That's baseball.
  13. Wisconsin still has a chance. I got Duke in my bracket winning it so i want the money, but pulling for Wisconsin. Decisions...
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) A well located fastball is tough to barrel up and drive. You can make contact and put the ball in play. You might not be successful in the outcome of what happens. I faced a few guys who had plus stuff and were 92-95. The different was however that their secondary stuff was no where near what these guys in the pro's throw. So sure you could get the bat on the ball and hit it. But its not RBI baseball where you are putting it into the stands. It really depends on the hitter. I generally loved to face guys with good breaking pitches as I always looked off speed. I was never the best fastball hitter (if I had half of Konerko's timing...) it was generally a reason why I was tough to K.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) Great game thread guys 55 pages. Usually opening game threads are great though.
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) Eh his point stands. I played DIII and we used to crank the pitching machine up to 90 on occasion. Once you got it timed it wasn't that hard. Now, I played against a kid that got drafted by the Tribe in round 9. That kid has incredible stuff for DIII but only got to AA before flaming out. Right now Drabek looks like a high A ball guy. I played myself. A well located fastball is tough to hit. Hell I could hit at 93 if the guy kept throwing it. I will just respectfully disagree even talking to guys who I personally know that have been drafted playing minor league ball now.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:03 PM) Hopefully LaRoche does something this at bat. Heh.... nope.
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:02 PM) I did as well. Hitting fastballs is not hard. The different between college and the pro's however is the secondary pitches move a hell of a lot more. You are facing the friday night pitcher every day.
  19. Hopefully LaRoche does something this at bat.
  20. At this point, I hope we battle with these last three outs. Say what you will about last year's team, but they at least battled till the end even though they sucked. Don't roll over and die so easily boys.
