  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Why does Hawk think Sanchez looks like Ordonez? He looks more like Avi with the air let out. He's good looking, so that's marketable for Boyer.
  2. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) It's not a large sample-size, but it's not nothing either. That coupled with just looking at how long and slow his swing is would leave me extremely hesitant to dump a relatively productive player for him. And for the thousandth time, that stuff basically all shows up, and even with that stuff, De Aza has been productive. For the record, I'm not saying Danks is the answer either. I'm tired of both guys actually. But I still don't think we've seen enough of Danks and I still prefer his defense.. just with a better hitter on top of it.
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Essentially all that happened after he came up different to earlier in the season was a little BABIP correction. F*ck superior baseball IQ if it comes with hitting .190/.270/.278 instead of .250/.318/.363. Or their career lines of .219/.294/.327 versus .269/.332/.399. Ah yes Danks and his extremely large sample size of 306 ABs. You have to remember De Aza is a notoriously streaky hitter. He was awful when he was getting limited At bats. Then with the injury to Garcia he got his ABs and as he usually does later, caught fire. Now if you want to argue that's why we need him when a guy like Eaton goes on his annual 10 DL trips, then fine, I can see your point. I don't wanna label him as injury prone just yet. The dumb plays that cost his team an inning or runs.. that stuff doesn't show up.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 08:59 PM) We can pay someone a lot less to put up similar or better production as a 4th OF. I'd take Jordan Danks. He has shown flashes offensively, and his defense is lightyears ahead of De Aza. If he's the same guy we saw when Eaton went down, then I agree 100%. His superior baseball I.Q. doesn't hurt either and he's making peanuts.
  5. Carlos Sanchez should be getting the most PA out of anyone currently, yet he's batting 9th.. makes sense.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) @AdamSchefter: Bears are keeping QB Jimmy Clausen over Jordan Palmer, who is being released, per sources. For now, Clausen has won Bears' backup job. Palmer is going to wite and Balta's team. Smart move considering the Bills play the Bears and Palmer knows that playbook.
  7. Looks like it's gonna be Jorge Soler time now. Strong rumors he is being called up. One of my favorite prospects in their system not counting the beast that is Bryant. Gonna be fun to see him play up here.. unfortunately with the Cubs.
  8. I wonder who Carlos Rondon is Bruce.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) Eminor nominates Chipper Jones to be our manager! He does have that Jake Taylor look thing going for him.
  10. JRW loses. Damn it was a hell of a ride though. Still were trying to come back in the last inning.
  11. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 09:52 AM) I'll be pissed at Gordon Beckham for needing 3000 AB to figure it out. Yea I don't think I've ever seen it happen. Hell even when José Bautista became a monster, he was around 1200+ ABs before he flipped a switch.
  12. Montas done. 5 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER 0 BB 9 SO.
  13. I am shocked Tim Anderson is doing this well jumping to AA two months removed from a broken wrist rehabbing in rookie ball. Still early, but this is pretty amazing.
  14. QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 05:40 PM) #roadtocameron I prefer Matuella.
  15. Haha. Q may be a young pup, but when he targets you, your done. Oh and historically, Sanchez has more power from the right side. This is one of those outliner seasons where he has had a power surge/maturing into his body.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) He gets a pass until he gets a team that should win. I mentioned it before, according to Soxtalk, the LF sucks, the CF is good but is always hurt, the RF sucks, the 3B might be OK, the SS needs to be traded, the 2B is awful, the 1B is awesome, the C sucks, the DHs and bench need to go away. The bullpen is awful, and at least 40% of the rotation is garbage. Only green sox could manage this team to 130 wins. I don't think I've heard anyone here say Avisail Garcia sucks. (yet) I agree with you to an extent though.
  17. Love to see Sanchez getting a chance. I may be a bit biased as he's probably the best hitter for average out of the three and he's nearly two years younger but I've liked him since I saw him turn a 100 mph fastball for a double in the futures game. Just a pure hitter.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) Where the hell did Putnam even come from? He's been great this season He's finally been given a chance. He's been great with us. Even Cubs fans are shocked how good he's been.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 09:24 PM) Jackson wasn't traded because of performance. He was traded because he was about to become a free agent. I still believe he was bit of a head case om the mound though. Pretty much the black Javy Vasquez.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) What a horrible thing to say. And EJax was pretty decent with the Sox so I am going with Vazquez. Neither are bad choices. I agree with Jackson though. Javy did pitch here for 3 years. Jackson was pretty much one and done.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 07:19 AM) Between all the bad stuff off the field, the way players are used and abused by teams, suddenly a talented kid shows a little bit of attitude and he is treated like the devil. The modern day Jim McMahon.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 10:07 PM) Well this is another step closer to that great draft pick, right? The road to Matuella/Aiken? Idk someone else can come up with the clever catch theme for that.
  23. Cleto 98-99 tonight. If he can ever harness his control, he might make a terrific closer.
