  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) IMO, hitting on a solid first round pick doesn't mean a guy still isn't an overdraft. If he was the only one and was still a hit we wouldn't have a problem, but particularly with first rounders, drafting guys he likes that he could potentially have moved down and gotten is definitely a pattern with Emery. He is a two time pro bowler now in the two years he's been in the league and has graded out to be outstanding as a guard in metrics. I agree with you on Emery and that philosophy in a way, but you are really reaching here.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 09:04 AM) @RapSheet #Bills QB Kyle Orton tells the team he will retire. It appears, this time he means it. The biggest news of the day right there..
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) I liked his procedures in general, questioned some of them (the overdrafts of SMC and Kyle Long, for example), but as someone else said, whatever metric drove him to give Cutler that much money on a multi year deal sealed his fate. Hard to question Kyle Long being an overdraft though in hindsight. He had some hits with him, Jeffrey and probably Fuller to name a couple but when he missed on some guys or decisions, he really missed.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 08:46 AM) Huh? They fired Emery. No idea why Adam put HC there (maybe that explained his poor drafting. GM and HC is alot of responsibility ) Trestman is gone too though. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 08:47 AM) I think Phillips should stay on with the business side. I hope they are finally doing this the right way. Ditto. Hope they copy what the Hawks did with McDonough.
  5. Falcons just fired head coach Mike Smith.
  6. @AdamSchefter: Bears have fired HC Phil Emery.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 08:21 AM) @ProFootballTalk League source says word is tricking out of Chicago that G.M. Phil Emery has gotten the axe. Hopefully this is true. And hopefully the Bears don't do what the Bears usually do and screw this potential new hire up.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 07:41 AM) I think Rex Ryan would be a top NFL head coach if he had any offensive imagination. The Bears already went down that road with Lovie Smith, I'm not ready for a repeat. I'd still much rather have a top 5-10 defense (which Ryan's Jets team did 4/6 years of his tenure) for this franchise. Not necessarily advocating Mr. Foot Fetish, but he wouldn't be the worst choice.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2014 -> 12:05 PM) So what happened? Also, hopefully the guy had insurance and that isn't why he ran Long story short, the guy ran through a stop sign and hit me by Halsted in the city. No idea if he was drunk (thinking he was) but he left the scene and we were trying to collect our barrings. Luckily the cops arrived pretty quick, and they got the guy about 4 blocks away. And he did have insurance, albeit very s***ty, and he was supposedly "shaken up" about hitting us. My friend in the meantime currently has 22 stitches on his head and probably has to go back to the hospital next week.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2014 -> 01:48 PM) At the very least...Castro needs to start going to different clubs. Or stay his ass in the states.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2014 -> 09:02 PM) Glad to hear you are OK! QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 28, 2014 -> 09:19 AM) Wow, glad to hear you are OK!! Thanks guys. I've been in accidents before (one with my car almost just as totaled.. but that was dealing with that horrible snow storm and just losing control and hitting a guard rail) but that was by far the scariest/worst s*** I've ever been though. Still sore as f***. I probably should go to the hospital, but I'm a stubborn mule. I feel just awful for my buddy though. Hope he isn't too depressed.
  12. Got into a serious car accident last night.. like lucky to be alive type. The guy who hit me pulled a Hit and run. Luckily the police caught him about 4 blocks away. My friend had to get about 60 stitches on his head.
  13. Tyreke Evans is schooling Jimmy Butler. I don't think I've seen Jimmy struggle so much defensively. Still early though.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 26, 2014 -> 07:20 AM) New wine holder for Christmas! ^^ Now that is very nice.
  15. Love watching GS-LAC games. They legit hate each other. Great for the NBA.
  16. To all the posters here, Merry Christmas!
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 24, 2014 -> 09:19 AM) Seeing what we have spent already, and what the tax implications are, I'll bet we don't even waste our time. There is close to a zero chance we sign Moncada IMO. The kid is 19 and seeing if a team that signs him might include him in a future trade or if it doesn't work out years later, give up on him/release and another team can take the high risk/reward which we see alot... i would think the sox would send a scout or two.
  18. I just look at Butler's lines now and just laugh. Stupid efficient good.
  19. Counting down the days until I never have to see Kirk Hinrich in a Bulls uniform again.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) John Mullin ‏@CSNMoonMullin 2h2 hours ago #Bears Trestman says there will be surgery on DE Willie Young's torn Achilles Yea he will never be the same.
  21. Supposedly, we're going to find out today according to MLB Network.
  22. Phil Hughes. 3 years, 42 million extention. Still crazy to look at some of his numbers last year.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 06:23 PM) I wonder how Clint Reif died. Just sad really. Everyone in the org is feeling it. Only 34 years old with a wife and 4 kids, right before Christmas at that.. just terrible.
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) Or we'll throw in Bryant and Russell....you know, those prospects have zero value until they are proven veterans. Maybe we should have just given anderson for a 1/2 a year of Shark. He hasn't proven anything, while Phegley and Semien are proven solid backups. Never thought I see someone comparing "proven solid" with Semien and Phegley to Quintana. It's a nice attempt to prove a point though. I've been one of the biggest prospect guys on this site for years and with what wite said is damn near on the nose. Sure the rankings of guys does help. I agree with it especially cause it deals with upside/ceiling guys more than limited/floor guys which is what I look for when evaluating guys in our system more so than some of the guys on FS. But their are more than not, exceptions obviously. I remember when Dustin Pedroia was not even a top 5 spect in the Red Sox system behind such "studs" like Andy Marte, Lars Anderson, Michael Bowden, etc. cause he didn't have their tools or size, or upside. Hell, dont get me started on his BA ranking. Look what he's done being an afterthought.
