8/30 Doubleheader vs Tigers
Got to feel for the kid Suarez. Twice he just missed getting hits off Sale then proceeds to strikeout.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) KKKKKKKK Mostly on fastballs too. Trax has him at 96.1 most of the game.

Heh.. ump knew he missed that one and then just gave Sale that strikeout.

8/30 Doubleheader vs Tigers
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) How come when Hawk uses old school stats to judge a player, he is a crazy old man who the game has passed by, but when Stone constantly praises pitchers on their W-L record, there is nothing similar? Funny thing is, when Stone first started here, he never used that stat and actually "argued" with Hawk over it. Since then, it seems he's either changed his tune or he just does it to not have Hawk in his ear about it.

2014 Minor League catch all thread
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) Montas activated and promoted to AA. Starts tomorrow. JPN is going to enjoy watching that Barons team next year. Hell, I might have to take a trip up there.

I think Eaton will be even better next year. Especially in the power department.

Not a good pitch selection by Flowers. Kinsler makes Sale pay.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 10:48 AM) Victor Martinez isn't a catcher any more, he's a DH. Not to mention is a much better hitter.

Angels Acquire Gordon Beckham
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:51 AM) I'd take Drew Rucinski. Hell I'd take a Jeff Soptic like arm in the low minors. I'd consider it a win.

8/28 Games
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 06:50 PM) I can confirm this as I read the same thing earlier today. For anyone that wants to see for their self its an open account to the public. https://mobile.twitter.com/adamswc12 Its his first time away from home and it sounds like he's missing friends and family. Heh.. OT, but Tyler Danish and Tim Anderson are like BFFs.

Better Future Core: Sox or Cubs?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 10:36 PM) Sale and Rodon don't have high ceilings? You could have fooled me. I'm assuming he means as far as hitters.

Better Future Core: Sox or Cubs?
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 08:41 PM) The question is future core. With the guys they've called up, plus Kris Bryant, gotta be the Cubs. Agreed. Sox have the better pitchers obviously, but we'll see what Theo and Jed do this off season. Even with those prospects, they still have some attractive ones they can deal in the off season for pitching or go the FA route for a player(s) they like for the future. I like what Hahn has done for us though.

Indians vs Sox
Still don't understand why Sanchez is batting 9th. Kid needs as many PA as possible.

8/26 vs Indians
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:11 PM) Well yea I agree. As a 4th OF I'd take Danks just because he's going to cost about 1/4 of De Aza and he can play CF. But I'm not entirely convinced a better LF than De Aza is needed next year. Team has bigger holes IMO. Agreed. Which is why I think that 4+ million can be better spread elsewhere.

8/26 vs Indians
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Why does Hawk think Sanchez looks like Ordonez? He looks more like Avi with the air let out. He's good looking, so that's marketable for Boyer.

8/26 vs Indians
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) It's not a large sample-size, but it's not nothing either. That coupled with just looking at how long and slow his swing is would leave me extremely hesitant to dump a relatively productive player for him. And for the thousandth time, that stuff basically all shows up, and even with that stuff, De Aza has been productive. For the record, I'm not saying Danks is the answer either. I'm tired of both guys actually. But I still don't think we've seen enough of Danks and I still prefer his defense.. just with a better hitter on top of it.

8/26 vs Indians
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Essentially all that happened after he came up different to earlier in the season was a little BABIP correction. F*ck superior baseball IQ if it comes with hitting .190/.270/.278 instead of .250/.318/.363. Or their career lines of .219/.294/.327 versus .269/.332/.399. Ah yes Danks and his extremely large sample size of 306 ABs. You have to remember De Aza is a notoriously streaky hitter. He was awful when he was getting limited At bats. Then with the injury to Garcia he got his ABs and as he usually does later, caught fire. Now if you want to argue that's why we need him when a guy like Eaton goes on his annual 10 DL trips, then fine, I can see your point. I don't wanna label him as injury prone just yet. The dumb plays that cost his team an inning or runs.. that stuff doesn't show up.

8/26 vs Indians
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 08:59 PM) We can pay someone a lot less to put up similar or better production as a 4th OF. I'd take Jordan Danks. He has shown flashes offensively, and his defense is lightyears ahead of De Aza. If he's the same guy we saw when Eaton went down, then I agree 100%. His superior baseball I.Q. doesn't hurt either and he's making peanuts.

Carlos Sanchez should be getting the most PA out of anyone currently, yet he's batting 9th.. makes sense.

2014-2015 NFL Football thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) @AdamSchefter: Bears are keeping QB Jimmy Clausen over Jordan Palmer, who is being released, per sources. For now, Clausen has won Bears' backup job. Palmer is going to wite and Balta's team. Smart move considering the Bills play the Bears and Palmer knows that playbook.
