It's about that time of the year again...
As long as there is progress record wise with this team, it's fine. Don't want us picking in the top 3 again as it shows we still haven't improved. And this is comming from one of the biggest prospect geeks on this board since I've joined.

Sept 6 game thread vs Cleveland
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) When I see Wilkins and Taylor look absolutely lost at this level, it scares me even more that these guys hit about .100 points higher in AAA than Davidson This is one of the better games I've seen Wilkins have since he's been up as far as offensively. Hit everything hard. Even his last at bat was a good at bat. Kluber just made a good pitch on him. I agree it is pretty discouraging so far, results wise. I'm just glad Sanchez looks terrific... so far.

Sept 6 game thread vs Cleveland
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) He's still very hesitant and needs to bust it and get back to the wall as quickly as possible...had time to get back and just didn't get it done. He's just not natural or fluid out there. Any ball that is going to the wall he pretty much bails on it. Any little looper, he gives up on. You understand cause of that injury, but you hope it doesn't affect him the rest of his career there like it pretty much did to Quentin.

Yikes Avi. I still think that shoulder is still affecting his mindset defensively.

Sept 6 game thread vs Cleveland
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) Paul Konerko's been a pretty weak hitter against fastballs the last 2 years He was still top 5 on this team pretty easy. I'd argue top 3 actually.. well maybe 3 is a stretch.

Sanchez has now hit in 7 of his last 8 games. The one where he didn't? Was a pinch hit strikeout.

Sept 6 game thread vs Cleveland
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 06:38 PM) Sanchez killed that ball to SS. I feel like he barrels up a lot of balls. I think the kid has got some good talent and can stick next year. When Konerko retires, he's probably top 3 best fastball hitter on our team. (barring changes)

WNBA Thread
I'll bring this thread out of the dead and give some love for the Chicago Sky who are in the WNBA Finals. Probably the first basketball team in Chicago that we will see in the finals for a while.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 07:56 AM) Remember how at age 35, AJ Pierzynski jumped from 8 home runs the previous season to 28 home runs, and the Sox let him go the next year? He was a solid regular the next year, still hit a good number of home runs, but his OPS dropped by 100 points and he hit the DL for the first time in like a decade. That's kind of what I'd guess for Victor unless there's another major injury. He's having an incredible power season, but he's doing so at age 36 and it stands out compared to his entire career. He's hit more HR already this year than he has any other year of his career. He's slugging higher this year than any year of his career. He's doing that at age 36. That's almost a perfect example of a guy you'd be surprised if he ever did that again. Funny you mention A.J. I kept looking at Paul Konerko's age 35 and 36 (and 37 to go even further) seasons a couple of days ago. Kind of similar with what you were saying. Still solid at 36, but not close to the year he had at age 35
