  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) Those teams usually tanked in August...not July. But they played station to station all year, while other teams did not.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) That was Brian Roberts' second homer of the year Point, Milkman. Garcia digging us quite the hole. I never said Roberts was the someone who has or does not have power. In general, I am surprised that other teams don't run Freddie's fat, sweaty ass around more. And Roberts hit 18 homers last year when he grew up as a hitter.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) I can't wait for Tejada to beat us all series. This team is absolutely dead right now. How come every other team has no problem scoring from first on a double, and we can't even score from second on a single? In more ways than we can count, this is looking like a pre-2005 White Sox team.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) Why hit a ball 10 feet when you can hit it 450? Some guys have very little power
  5. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) I'd like to see Freddy lose 30 pounds. He looks fat and tired. I am surprised he isn't bunted on more.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Great to see our pitchers continuing to get us back in the dugout after we allow a run. Garcia's pitching slower tonight than he has in a month. I'm not watching, but I assume you mean his pace.
  7. QUOTE(G&T @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) For those who can't watch it's 2 and 2 on PK with 2 men on and 2 out. And in scoring position
  8. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) freddy. get it to 90mph please or this game is gonna not be fun every bottom of the inning According to Farmio he is at his customary 86 - 88.
  9. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) what the hell, everytime Jose enters the 7th or eighth lately, he falls apart; take a hint Ozzie And he should take a hint with Vaz falling apart in the 6th, and Garcia just about anytime and Mark anytime ............ IT'S THE PITCHER"S FAULT.
  10. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) 8-6 cleve now Make that 8-7. They've scored 4 runs in the 4th and Cleveland still haven't recorded an out.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Ozuna chases strike 3. A 4th outfielder can't get here soon enough, or a LF upgrade. How about anybody that can keep the bat on their shoulder when it's ball 4.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) Contreras gets out of it. Nice. Now lets see if we can get some runs. Well lets first see if we can put the bat on the ball. Like with most great pitchers, the 1st inning is their greatest achilles heel.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) Big pitch there. Morneau is a HUGE batter in this game. It's just that when you have a catcher who's thrown one guy out in the last year, teams are going to be even more aggressive. I vote to walk him.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Terrible start. Crede's missed more plays to his left in the last month than I can ever remember. I thought he was missing plays down the line to his right.
  15. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) don't worry. we'll handle Santana. I like a little levity.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) I understand EVERTHING is on Oz here, but with 85 pitchers from Javy to start the 7th, and the stuff he has had all game, I really dont think it was that bold of a move to keep Javy out there. Javy made good pitches on the HR balls, Twins put some great swings on the ball, simple as that. Something needs to be done about Javy and his late inning falters, but leaving him out in the 7th after watching him all game isnt a bad call IMO. Thank You!
  17. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) I realize I may get crucified by the ton of more baseball-knowledgeable people here, but I had this crazy idea last night after Javy tanked yet another game with the Big Inning. I think we can all agree that Javy has the "stuff," but is just mentally askew. He looked damn good for five innings last night and then bam, bam, bam! Next thing we know, a grand-slam later, we're down 5-2. BTW, who thought we would come back after that? Me neither. So in a nutshell: Javy's good for a few innings, can even be lights-out, but just can't pull off entire games. Sooo... Why not move Javy to the pen for middle relief and make McCarthy the fifth starter? A switcheroo. It's either really brilliant or really flawed as an idea. I'm sure you're going to tell me which one, LOL. Discuss! I don't see it happening, but due to the fact he seems to suffer his meltdown the third time through the lineup, it makes some sense. On the other hand he seems to fall apart when the pressure is on, so who knows. Perhaps he lacks the tough, mental fortitude to concentrate for more than 2 hours. . I still have some confidence in him as a starter.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) I really don't think thats it. I used to think it was the case but I saw enough reaction out of him to show that he does care. I have called the guy a "sissy" quite often and have went with the idea that he's scared on the mound at times. But really what he does is he gets overly eager and tries to over-throw. This works badly because he doesn't have the leg kick so his arm gets out of whack with his body and resulting to hanging the ball. Plus when he's overthrowing a breaking ball as is (even when he has his high leg kick which naturally keeps his arm more in check) he's going to roll it over because when you throw it too good (as Hersh mentioned on the telecast) you end up getting it to hang cause the ball doesn't get the desired spin. Very nice explanation of how his brain imploding results in 'the big inning'. Despite the number of times this has happened to him, it should be fixable. They are called sports psychologists.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) That's the thing with Vazquez...he can go from great to awful in a matter of 10 pitches. He had a terrific bottom of the 5th, and I was going to say how impressive it was, but I was scared to jinx him. I still have more confidence in him than I do Garcia. Bingo ....... at least he has the stuff. He has enough to make hitters anxious. When Garcia is in ....... just remain calm ...... you'll get a good one to hit.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) Not really. I mean, he pitched extremely well except for one pitch. Im dissapointed in the runs, but the sweat on his hand that caused him to hang the pitch sucks. It's called a rosen bag ....... no excuse ....... he ususally finds a way to blow it, despite his superior stuff.
  21. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) I thought Javy had good stuff tonight. Too bad he chose that pitch. It was a bad bad call by he or AJ or both. But he pitched well tonight. The pitch didn't break sharpely and it was too high in the strike zone ........ he suffered a Javy moment at the worst possible time.
  22. QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) Gimmie a break... he had 3 soft crappy hits against him and a huge letdown by Mack in CF.... because the guy cant play Cf on the blooper... and AJ tagging Ivan instead of going to first on the force WTF Please Javy pitched good this game... what more do you want.. He pitched good ..... but you have to have a killer instinct to throw your best when you have to bear down ... instead, this is the moment Javy is most likely to hang one. It ruins all that good effort for 5 innings. Great stuff, but he is lacking something between the ears.
