  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) And for anyone who's seen Casey bat a lot in his career, that's the only type of pitch he can really drive to right field. I'm so thrilled we got Sandy and his leadership. Mark missed Sandy's glove by a lot.
  2. I got home from work at midnight and just finished watching the game on tape. WOW, what a performance. Perhaps the best start of the year by any Sox hurler. And it wasn't against a bunch of chumps. A think he needs to follow this one up with another and then his doubts should take a back seat.
  3. Very nice win there. Beating Halliday in his own park to open the series.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) It's amazing how much weight he's lost in the last few years. I wonder who his nutritionist is? Tough inning here for Garland. I guess we can rule out Greg Anderson
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Nice and quick. Reed Johnson has some insane numbers this year. I've always been a fan of his. Quick bat and he's real good at adjusting.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Lets get a DP here. The hard way.
  7. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Time for Kong to go the other way. Beautiful.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) Wow...keep going Pods! I thought Crede would score on that with 2 outs. AS you might remember, the Sox do not score from first on a double.
  9. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) the way their handling themselves at the plate gives me alot of faith as to how this game is going to go. I'm feeling pretty confident we'll break through today, it's just a matter of jon doing his thing. 61 pitches through 3.
  10. Hinske looked real good against Wang the other night. Wang has emerged as the best sinkerball pitcher in the American league.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) 31 pitch first inning for Halladay, 17 strikes, 14 balls. 14 of those pitches were thrown to Thome and Konerko. Nice to have them back, that's for sure. So far his running fastball is his out pitch ..... hopefully the rest of his arsenal continues to be so-so. Not likely though.
  12. Meanwhile, down by 1, Detroit has 2 on, nobody out and Maggs up in the top of the 8th.

    QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) Have you played strawberry farms down there? great course...I think some old Angel like Bobby Grich or Gary DiSarcina co-owns it. Well I've had my chuckle for the day ........ thanks for the avatar.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) They'll still probably win. Maybe .... but I take heart that they are playing like crap. Now it's 5-1.
  15. 3-1 Tampa going to the bottom of the 6th. Dmitri just struck out to end the top of the 6th ..... he has also made 3 errors to go along with one from Guillen.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Fact is, these players do not look motivated at all. That is what Ozzie is supposed to be good at, getting his guys up for the game. We all already know that he's pretty sub-par at managing a game, so he has to be good at motivation. I just want to see some intensity out of these guys. Ozzie might as well say "meh" to every question he is asked in his postgame conferences. He just doesn't seem to think much of this terrible play. I find it amusing that we are considering that Ozzie needs to be more demonstrative. I think he has often treaded a fine and effective line when it comes to overdoing it .......... to the point where nobody listens. I am sure he feels that a giant rant at the moment might backfire, especially if it serves no purpose. Personally, I think he has shown himself to be incedibly intuitive as far as when to push the buttons and when not to. I trust his decision making. Have you considered that nobody could get this team going at the moment. Would it surprise that many people if, despite the way they are playing, they turned things around. Perhaps he feels that he needs to be supportive at this difficult time, rather than assuming the scolding parent.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Leyland, who is a good manager and not just a cheerleader, ripped into his team earlier in the year and they haven't looked back since then. Ozzie, who is a bad manager and a great cheerleader/motivator, is seemingly allowing this team to slide. I take issue with this. Ozzie took this club where it hadn't gone in, like, 100 years. I am sick of hearing how sh***y Ozzie is, when his starting pitchers have summarily lost their velocity and overall effectiveness. Nobody could manage this starting staff into a pennant winner. Their effectiveness is integral to the team's success and he has done everything to help, coddle and instil confidence.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) Somebody in Trade Winds said something like that. McCarthy is too good to trade for Soriano, but he's not good enough to take Vazquez's spot in the rotation. Seems pretty ridiculous. I don't understand all the consternation with not putting McCarthy in the starting rotation. There is only one of him and there are 3 starters at the moment who are ineffective.
