  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 21, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) Jim Thome is the reason the White Sox are in last place. All Jim Thome does is clog the bases. I've got to hand it to you. Just when you think nobody could come up with a statement more embarrassingly stupid ............... wham, there it is.
  2. Time for Mr. Jenks to introduce himself to the record books?
  3. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) Richar homers. Hey .....these kids can play.
  4. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 10:51 AM) As for the arms...Buehrle and Garland don't have enough torque on their pitches to screw up their arms. Vazquez is the only one that MAY...I repeat...MAY have arm trouble, but probably not. We have a good amount of pitchers that are serviceable coming through the system. But remember, Buehrle is our ace...and he was a 38th round pick. Look, there are going to be your low pick, high reward guys like Buehrle and Piazza (51st round pick, IIRC). And you are going to have your busts...Gavin Floyd anyone? Or the Mets pitchers of the early 90's, Wilson, Van Poppel and I think Isringhausen. Like Poplar said, baseball is up and down...the Tigers just a few years ago, were the absolute worst team in baseball...BY FAR. Now, not so much. The White Sox need to do something about the instruction and the scouting, but I agree with Poplar that things can change, in a hurry. And I'd much rather have my team say, "We are going to retool and do our best to win NOW," than, "We are going to rebuild, enjoy these kids playing, but we are going to suck for a few years." This is a well thought out, sober analysis of the situation. A welcome repreive from all the jump off the cliff, doomsday reactions typically found on sports message boards.
  5. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) The Marx brothers are on HBO Comedy. If anyone can use some laughs I'm laughing.
  6. Gameday showed an 'injury delay'. Was it one of our guys. Perhaps Seattle hitters are running out of oxygen?
  7. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) He's electing not to throw it. I think I've seen one good sinker today. A lot of 4-seamers and change ups so far. I'd like to hear why he isn't throwing it. For my money, it's the only 'A' grade pitch that he possesses. Does it hurt to throw it? Is it simply not working? Any team that faces Jon and realizes that he is minus that pitch has to be licking their chops.
  8. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) How does this happen? I just don't get it. How does one guy go from a dominant pitcher to someone who shouldn't be in the majors? Argh. In Garland's case, without watching or listening to the game, I would guess he has lost the sink in his sinker.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) I know people always get on Garland for showing no emotion, but it sure seems like he's ready for this season to end. As things stand at this moment, I think you would have to be masochistic to feel any other way.
  10. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 11:20 PM) 3-3 More west coast poltergeist action.
  11. The Mariner announcers said Alex had a .350 average with runners in scoring position.
  12. Couple of nice at bats there by Uribe and Richar.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 12:25 AM) He barely gets extra base hits, isn't exactly young....and just isn't good. He wouldn't be an upgrade at all. TSN naturally features Jay highlights more than most teams. I've seen him make an awful lot of great fielding plays. Still, on second thought, I hope the Sox can do better. Nobody else impresses me in the free agent market though. It's going to be hard for Kenny to find a gem this off season.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 12:14 AM) Oh please no...he should be a back-up middle infielder. I'd rather have Uribe over him. I think I will back up on that suggestion. His fielding is above average (like Uribe) and his average is 25 points higher than Uribe's, but .............. the guy takes way less walks than Uribe (how could this be possible).
  15. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) Counts final totals (should this be it for him) were not completely atrocious. Don't know if it's enough to bring much in here, but we need something...prefereably a young SS....our short stop situation is abysmal...we had a 34 year old starting in AAA tonight, and a late 20s SS starting in AA. Single A has the rapidly regressing Valido...in short, we got jack. Get someone, ANYONE for this position. I'm starting to think the Jays McDonald might be worth looking at.
  16. I think Jose has been fairly decent tonight ......... a little unlucky, partially brought on by himself. But he is only up to 90 pitches and down by 1.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 11:58 PM) Who the f*** told our power hitting 3rd baseman to bunt. Moronball there. Agreed. He must of been thinking the element of surprise along with left hand hitting Thome on deck.......
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Holy cow, Richar is trying his best to keep me unimpressed. Looks like a weak, slap hitter right now. How about now?
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) Probably, but if Jerry Owens played 3rd base and Konerko hit a routine grounder to him, his arm would make it interesting. He makes the One Dog look like he has a cannon. Even One Dog gave it his best. He couldn't help that he threw like a girly-man.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) Wow....quite pathetic to see a shallow fly ball to CF be almost a no-throw situation. I wonder if Dye will come out and say again how this team lacks intensity on a lot of nights. It seemed more like a Suzuki issue than an intensity issue.
  21. Gameday has Jose throwing 97 and 98 mph. Should I be excited about that?
  22. QUOTE(GoGoWhiteSox! @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) My pick to "NOT" click today is batters 3-6, that being Thome, Konerko, Pierzynski, and Dye! If I ever saw Jim Thome on the street I would ask him to loan me 2 million bucks from the 15.6 million he stole from the WhiteSox and Phillies!! NO wonder they just wanted to dump him...he sucks!! We have one of the worst records in baseball, but yet one of the highest payrolls...soemthing doesn't add up!!! This embarrassing comment reminds me of why I spend less time checking out what my fellow Sox fans think.
  23. Alrighty then, let's get one for Bobby.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) Farmer said it doinked the pole. Snakebit in Oakland .......... what new.
