  1. According to Gameday's description, that looked like a revolting at bat for Pierz.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) If you were an opposing pitcher and the game was close, would you give Thome anything to hit? I can't recall ever seeing this questioned answered no matter how many times I've asked it. Either way, the tying run is on deck. Homer is pretty much the same thing as a walk at that point. Except for possible double plays. A walk is totally inexcusable .
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 11:07 PM) His stuff looking much more crisp than I ever saw at Charlotte, and gameday on MLB had him at 92 to 94, with an 84 changeup to strike out the 2nd batter. Maybe it was just adrenaline, but the pitches he threw looked good. Very nice. Thank you for that.
  4. Yikes 5 runs and still nobody out. Must be time to get serious and bring in Nathan.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) AJ just threw his glove into the dugout....he's going gloveless with Broadway on the mound. Maybe he thought they were bringing in Phillips again. So ........ what was your first impression of Broadway.
  6. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) I'm honestly asking, can someone explain to me why Fields isn't getting every rep at 3B for the rest of the year? He needs all the reps he can there, and he has been no worse defensively than Braun or Ryan Zimmerman. IF Crede proves he's healthy and capable of manning 3B this offseason then you have the entire spring training to put Fields in LF to learn. I just don't get it. For me, it is more comforting to have Fields in left. Reassures me more that Crede will be back at third. And who cares about winning these games. We are going to have enough pieces up in the air to start next year. The more Fields plays in left, the smaller his learning curve to man the position professionally at the start of 2008.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) He was....and Richar should have definitely made a play on the liner by Bartlett. Double ouch. The big picture would sure like to see Richar perform under pressure.
  8. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) Cintron did not have a play at 2nd on that high chopper, first was his only play. So he throws it poorly to 2nd and the run scores. Ouch. By your description, it sounds like the runner on third was holding.
  9. According to Gameday a Cintron throwing error brings in the lead run. Was he trying to come home with it or turn the double play?
  10. Owens, Uribe, Cintron, Myers ......... some of the whipping boys are coming through ........ so far.
  11. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) Wow four whole hits for the Sox so far tonight. So far I count 1 for 29 from the 1 through 7 hitters.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 09:22 PM) He's also facing a team that has been playing as bad as the Sox, and his only other good start came in this cavernous ball park. I agree he should get another start, but if he gets rocked again (espsecially if it's at home) I don't want to see anyone point to these two games in Detroit as evidence of why he should continue to get a shot. Ohhhhhh for the days of 21 groundouts = 1 suit.
  13. According to Gameday, 3 of the 4 balls to Inge were in the strike zone. Bobby gets jobed.
  14. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) dye leaves. grindy enters. No mention of the problem? Hopefully a small tweak somewhere.
  15. Sweet. Sounds like he earned it. Thanks.
  16. I had to leave for a few minutes. Did Fields hit a hanger?
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 04:24 PM) And your point? He also never won a WS, never won back to back 90 game seasons, and had at that point only been over .500 ONCE. Ozzie is a winner and this years lack of success falls solely on the crap KW put together and the horrific years that several of our stars are having. There is no better option out there for a manager. This is a good move. I agree with this assessment 100%. Kenny put this team together. And I wouldn't fire him either. He thought Cooper could fix the new live arms and based on the team's track record it seemed a fair gamble. Besides, none of the pieces that were moved to make room for the new arms were worth keeping anyway. Kenny is aggressive and therefore more apt to make mistakes, as well as win championships. A manager should not be fired for making mistakes. He should be canned for not learning by them ......... anyway, back to the main topic at hand ...... Ozzie. He's done well when his players are performing as expected. He gets royally trashed with regularity on these boards ...... so what? Substitute his name with any other and it would be no different. And win or lose, the Sox have never had anyone as entertaining, fun and forthright as Ozzie. Who has?
  18. QUOTE(GoGoWhiteSox! @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) ok what I wanna know is who do Sox fans not want back next year??? I personally would like drop off the following garbage bags (aka players who underachieve); Mike McDougal, Toby Hall, Juan Uribe, Andy Gonzalez, Ryan Bukvich, Jerry Owens, Josh Fields, AJ Pierzynski (he is just to damn cocky..can't stand him), Gavin Floyd, Jose Contreras. I don't give a f*** how much they make or how much salary we must eat, just trade them, drop them, whatever just don't put them anywhere near a starting lineup!! I would add Podsednik and Myers to that list and subtract AJ and Fields.
  19. I just turned on Gameday and the out recorded on Peralta showed the ball beyond the outfield wall. Did Owens prevent a home run?
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 07:49 PM) BLBSHADFBWE$%TU%#WQUY@WU@Q^%#UAEFHW$#UNI#@Q%YHQI#@YHQ#%K^JUHNQ#@^%JU#$ YU#Q% &Y@Q^Y42SDHG#Q$ Y&Q#^%&YU BQ@^$T qeryadfnhq@$^&yqery#@%#$&$^yuedgjnfsgy bq#$^ b!#$@^&!q#%&yuq#^%&yu q#%&y $q ^ju$t ^ju^$r That was me vomiting all over my keyboard. I'm so sick of him and he's not even here. Let's see ...... .310, .379, .515 with decent speed and above average defense from a center fielder (one of our 4 glaring position weaknesses), who for some reason would like to come back. Someone who is respected by his teammates and plays with the aforementioned passion that is missing. He probably will be available and would give a home town discount. He already proved to be a valuable piece, be it through talent or some sort of unifying 'je ne said quois'. I could come up with more 'vomitable' players than this, but there is only so much space available on these boards.
  21. I feel sorry for Gonzalez. He is not ready. Probably never will be. He's thrust into something that is over his head and as a result is going to be the poster boy for ineptitude.
  22. Since this thread has comfortably morphed into the team's need for an inspirational influence, I am surprised that no-one has brought up the possible return old blood and guts .......... Aaron Rowand.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) Please know there was heavy sarcasm there. Hopefully in your post as well.... To be truthful, there is so much Thome slandering, I am having a hard time knowing what is sarcasm and what is not. I find myself simply defending him a lot. Nice to know you aren't serious.
  24. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) And all 18 of those times he was un-clutch, remember that. Unfair statement. Booooo ...........hissssssssssss.
  25. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 11:25 PM) worst team in baseball, and nobody's getting fired They still have some good talent. Right now they are fielding as many as 4 position players out of 9 that don't even rate as passable fringe talent. Fill in some of those holes with real talent and the team would improve dramatically. Gonzalez, Hall, Richar (his time might come, but he's not ready just yet) and Uribe are pretty much a joke. It could be worse. I would rather have B grade and F grade players than just C-, if you catch my drift. Injuries are a big part of the current mess. The importance of winning now is non-existent. It makes more sense to just check out some of the players in their system to help them properly re-load in the off season. As some posters have pointed out, bring back Crede, grab Rowand or Hunter. Try to acquire Furcal or something else that is not overweight and coachable and they may turn things around nicely.
