  1. QUOTE (qwerty @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) That sig needs to be downsized something terrible. Sorry about that ...... done.
  2. Is Gameday pretty much frozen for everybody?
  3. QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) They aren't retarded, they're Canadian. This made me laugh. And I don't know why ......... even though I'm Canadian. As soon as I heard this story, my first reaction was 'wow, for once in this never ending modern era, the tail is not wagging the dog'. Hooray!
  4. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) Audio is working fine for me. For some reason, no matter what radio channel I select from MLB Audio returns the 'webpage not found' message.
  5. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) What's going on? MLB's brand spanking new Gameday currently isn't doing anything. God, I wish they didn't f*** it up so much. It's trash. I just got home. Both audio and gameday are not working for me. Gameday is stuck on Donnie Murphy at the plate with a 2 and 1 count, 2 on, 2 out. Anyone know if Mark got out of trouble?
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) That's funny, cause I never said that. I said some could make the case, and I could see that since he just isn't a baseball player. But I think he could be valueable on a team, such as a poor man's version of Brian Roberts of the 04 Red Sox. Also, the part about Ozzie and Kenny had nothing to do with Owens but rather them, and how it is looking like they are going to make quite a few of boneheaded decisions regarding the roster, as of now. I just hope they come to their senses and realize that Owens isn't a starter or leadoff hitter. I seem to remember Owens coming into baseball pretty late in life, so his current age is misleading. He is still inexperienced and has more upside than your average 27 year old. It wouldn't surprise me if he took his game to another level and made the 'some that could make the case' look pretty dumb. He finished off pretty strong last year for someone who 'can't hit'. Personally, I am rooting for Brian Anderson and Jerry Owens.
  7. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 10:59 PM) "I'd make him (Pete Ward) a catcher, but we'd never get the game over with. He'd use up the whole night gossiping with the hitters and umpires." - Chicago White Sox Manager Al Lopez (1965) I came across this quote from El Senor about Pete Ward. I remember Pete as one of the White Sox true sluggers and real good 3Bmen of the 60's. Pete was involved in a car accident and hurt his back and never really regained his stature. 1967 he played third and first during the Great Pennant Race. I still remember listening to a Sox-Twins radio broadcast that year when Ward hit a two run homer in the bottom of the 8th off Dean Chance and the Sox won 3-2. The game was at Comiskey and the crowd roar was so deafening it drowned out the Twins broadcaster for quite awhile. Just thought I'd share a moment in time with all you posters as we near 2008 baseball. He was one of my favourites. Before the game became much more international, I thought it was cool that a guy born in Canada was playing Major League baseball ......... and for my favourite team.
  8. A girlfriend decided to get me personalized plates. She said Chisox was taken, so she got me CHICSX. After explaining to about 6 irate, females in parking lots that it did not mean 'chic sex', I retired them to my basement.
  9. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) I'm not sure now. Is it possible that Clemens isn't lying? MacNamee never refutes anything Clemens said in the phone conversation. I would have expected him to say, "You know you did it!" or something. I still don't believe Clemens, but I'm less sure now. The conversation was taped by Roger and presented by Roger and his lawyer. If MacNamee said "You know you did it!", do you think the tape might have been edited for our ears? MacNamee is as contrite as possible because he spilled the beans to save his ass. He was looking to crucify himself to appease the great Rocket. I don't know why they played the tape. It proves nothing. Roger's squirming says it all
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) I stand corrected. He wasn't hurt last year and I thought he was. Isn't it wierd that Rowand's best offensive year comes during his contract year? He never came close to those offensive stats before. Plus, why do you think he would give KW a discount? I doubt he will. Who cares about what it would cost to get Crawford, just get him. They need young pitching? Give them some young pitching and throw in Jerry Owens. That sounds good to me. I also don't have a reason for Jones having such a poor offensive season last year. I don't watch their games. I just know he has been more consistent over the years than Rowand and he has proven much more. You are right. I have no basis for thinking Rowand would give the Sox a discount. Just a hunch. Some players do sign for less. Rowand seems the type. Either way, he will be wealthy. He seems like the type to let other factors enter the equation. Some players have too big an ego to let other factors get in the way. I would care what they give for Crawford. Is he so much better than Rowand, that one could justify the difference between a Rowand draft pick (I'm assuming the Sox would lose something like a second rounder) and several young players, like DLS, Egbert, Sweeney, Gio, Russell? I wouldn't mind giving up more for Crawford, but not too much.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) 2 years younger, hurt a lot, and had one good offensive year in a contract year. Give me Andruw Jones or Carl Crawford before we pay 14 million for Aaron Rowand. Hurt a lot? Aside from putting a hurt on a wall with his nose 2 years ago, I don't see the 'a lot'. And I would like an explanation why Jones hit 80 points below Aaron last year. I don't see any player, other than Rowand, who will give Kenny a discount. That seems to be the determining factor in most Chisox acquisitions. Crawford would be great. But at what cost?
  12. QUOTE(R.J. @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 02:44 AM) After all of this talk from Kenny about going out and getting the BIG NAMES and puffing out his chest, this really does seem to make him look like a jerk. In Soxland, I think it makes Torii look more like a jerk. I never thought he would come to Chicago. He impresses me too much as a guy who spends a fair amount of time looking at himself in a mirror. He was bound to go to the highest bidder, which ruled out the Sox. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 09:57 AM) I would love for the White Sox to throw it all at Andruw Jones, who I think is worlds better than Hunter and just had one bad season, but I sure don't want to invest the money it would require to get Aaron Rowand back in here... he's still Rowand, and expecting anything more than a .275/15/75 would be ridiculous. I guess the fact that he grew into a .309 hitter last year was a fluke. He also had a better OBP and even slugging average than Torii. Yet nobody puts Aaron in the same class as Hunter. Two years younger, blue collar, team first, not full of himself ....... run through a wall for the team. Give me Aaron. He plays on winners.
  13. QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 09:07 AM) Kenny Williams said: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox09.article Now this makes no sense to me. Why in earth we send Fields down to AAA even if Crede stays? What was the whole purpose of having Fields in LF last season? This tells me that KW already has the LF spot already filled, and I have a real bad feeling it will be 'you know who'. Andy Gonzalez?
  14. QUOTE(scenario @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 10:20 AM) Khalil Greene is an entirely different player away from Petco. Greene G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Home 76 291 36 63 15 3 12 40 15 77 1 0 .216 .258 .412 .670 Away 77 320 53 92 29 0 15 57 17 51 3 0 .288 .322 .519 .840 Not often you see someone whose splits are that wide and favor his road stats rather than home. Clearly a case of a guy who would benefit from a trade. What intrigues me about him isn't the home runs... it's the doubles. 29 doubles in 320 at-bats on the road??? Our team leader last year had 34 doubles total - home and road. QUOTE(daa84 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 10:31 AM) since petco is such a difficult HR park, it usually means lots of doubles...im surprised his away doubles are higher than home...but then again the NL west has a few parks that are similar...lots of big gaps in the NL west How about the strikeouts. Looks like he tries to make up for the larger dimensions by doing too much.
  15. I would love to see Furcal. But something tells me they might get Tejada ..... which would mean Owens is kept as the leadoff man ..... but he will be moved to left, as Crede is dealt, which means Fields back to 3rd. The remaining outfield position is taken by discount Rowand. Don't ask me about pitching. Perhaps both Crede and Garland to Baltimore for Tejada and some youth. Maybe Brian is thrown in the mix. Owens Tejada Thome Konerko Dye Rowand Fields Pierzynski Richar
  16. I wonder if Borass will let Kenny or Jerry talk to ARod this time?
  17. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) Pena also knocked AJ's helmet off. Would that explain his decision to try to stretch his single into a double in the 8th, with the tying run coming to the plate with one out
  18. Jerry Owens .... 5 for 5 in the 7th inning. Another hit and he will be crowding a .270 average.
  19. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) Did they start the 2008 season early? Who are these guys. Maybe the Twins are suffering a Terry Ryan hangover.
  20. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Andy Gonzalez is now just sad. The fact this dude is actually playing 3B for this team is beyond joke status. If the season went long enough he'd be able to get his batting average to near .100 I don't want to call him trash, because he is a human being...but he has NO BUSINESS being on a major league playing field unless it's to rake the mound. But good ole' Chicago...has him as their starting 3b...Laughable, simply laughable. Agreed. For me, the worse part is how unfair it is to Andy.
  21. I love Buehrle, but he is no match for Santana. I don't ever remember a pitcher owening the Sox like Santana does. If I were the manager and I was facing Santana, I would always start my number 5 pitcher.
  22. Holy crap ......... have an inning!
  23. Nice that it came in dramatic fashion - WOW!
  24. Thanks for that correction Fathom ........ I've now had my chuckle for the day.
