  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) Something is wrong with you. You may have disliked Ozzie in the end of his tenure, but it's not worth getting this excited over. I can't feel hate towards the guy who managed a White Sox World Series. I feel sorry for you that you let more recent events make the most successful manager in franchise history a villain. Couldn't agree more. When I think of all the boring managers that have coached the Sox in the 50 years I have followed them, this news makes me sad. In the world of entertainment I rank Ozzie pretty high. I hang most of this on Dung and Rios. I guess for fans who love to hate, there must be some appeal to have a new whipping boy.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) Grebeck either got drilled or knocked on his ass his next AB. I can't remember. I thought I remembered something. He must of got knocked on his ass, because the only hitter that was hit that game was Pete Incaviglia.
  3. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Awesome, thank you so much. You're welcome. Just for the hell of it, I looked up the box score (the game was on August 10, 1990, not August 11) to see if the next hitter avoided getting drilled. He did. It was Lance Johnson ........ no doubt with happy feet. He grounded out 3rd to 1st.
  4. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 05:59 PM) I would love to see a video of that. August 11/1990 .... I just looked it up. It was the Little Hurt's first career home run. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk2NJQT6je4
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) Least expected back-to-back homers in the history of the game I think I remember Guillen and Grebeck going back to back on Nolan Ryan
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Guillen has screwed this game up by not having Rios in center. Just a little bit early for the Ozzie hate
  7. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) Unlike PK, Jeter and every other aging ball player that work to stay competitive and more importantly, actually have an off-season training program, Dunn will continue to sit around on his fat a$$ drinking beer I agree. He was obviously a disaster waiting to happen. And I hate to defend him ........ I actually find myself hoping he strikes out ..... something I have never wished on a White Sox hitter, but I can sort of understand how he got caught with his pants down, seeing as he is only 31. And he seems to me to be the kind of person that has enough integrity and professionalism, that he will try hard to correct a very embarrasing situation.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 11:44 PM) How can Dunn not retire? Is this fun for him? This failure? He's got to be set for life for money. What a terrible way to end a career though. In a perfect case scenario, he apoligizes for this year, pulls a Bostock/Meche and offers some or all of his salary back, promises to do everything he can to regain his former glory, then goes about a radical off-season change in his preparation. Something akin to better developing quick twitch muscles. I think he has stated that he has never altered his off-season training. If he then fares no better, he can retire part way though next year and leave with his head held high.
  9. I honestly think there is more of a chance that he accepts some king of partial buyout to retire early than go throught 3 more years of what he has experienced this year. This guy is not some Jaime Navarro. He is honourable and rich. He doesn't need to hear the boos for 3 more years. I think he will do whatever it takes to turn it around with a different conditioning program in the off-season and if he continues next year like it's 2011, he won't even go through the whole 2012 season.
  10. I think Rios and Beckham are not far off from being prroductive. Rios has adjusted his hands a bit and it has helped him square the ball up. Beckham needs to shorten his swing and become more Jeter-like with an in out type of swing. Stay on the pitches longer and go the other way more. Dunn on the other hand has shown nothing to make one hopeful. All anyone can do with him is point to years past. If someone was more likely to age quickly, it would be someone that is very large. He is elephant-like with his quickness.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Neither is a righty facing a righty Surely at this stage we can dispense with the righty lefty matchups when Dunn is involved.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:02 AM) It's almost like you have never heard of Adam Dunn before this season and this is the first you've seen him. If you want to believe he will be a .160 hitter with about 15 HR each of the next 3 years, then that's fine, I'll be sure to buy you some more coloring books and crayons for X-mas then. The trouble is, he could hit 70 points higher and still be a huge liability. Having a season regarded by many as the worst of all time is not a good sign moving forward. It looks to me like he dunn got old quick.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:55 PM) Any chance we can get Adam Dunn, Jake Peavy and Gil Meche to become hunting buddies this offseason? Give Cheney a call. Maybe it can be arranged.
  14. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) White Sox Baseball Starting to lose track of all the mistakes.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:20 PM) That was a great throw by Rios. Hawk is right throw, Tyler should have let the ball come to him, but I think he was protecting himself from being railroaded by giving Kendrick the back of the plate. The throw was a little to the first base side .... that's all it took. The same distance to the third base side and he was a goner.
  16. Looked like Rios got back it time, then ......... it's a foot off to the side.
  17. Tigers without Alburquerque, Benoit and Valverde available beat Price.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) Something that is not good is that Quentin is out of the game. Seemed pretty early to make that move. Imagine how much sense it would have been to keep Quentin in the game and have De Aza bat for Done.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) I wonder if Rios gets it? Plays like a little league kid out there and then seemingly pouts about being called out on his lack of hustle and performance. He is adark hole in the line up and when we have several not producing it just can't be good for our "all in it" stance He is a mental midget. Lot's of ability, but he can't get out of his hitting funk. He doesn't seem to see the need for urgency when someone with speed is rounding second on a single with 2 out. I understand Ozzie lamenting his inability to enjoy himself. This would help his natural abilities come out. I remember one game where they were in the dugout and Rios had his arms up on the dugout railing. Ozzie was standing beside him and playfully touched him near his armpit. You could see him jump, look momentarily at who had touched him, then turn his attention back to the field of play with a very unptight expression. Ozzie tried to get him to lighten up and he was having none of it. The worst part of Rios is not his lack of production. His attitude must bring everbody down. A mental cancer. He is the anti-Rowand.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) Let's get creative. Forget corpseball. Let's think of a new name for this. Alexis Israel Ríos .......... airball
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Does anyone know when Quentin hit a homer last? When it wsn't required.
