QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 09:20 AM) being a turtle would be a nice life style, but I think I'd rather be a honey badger

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Any phone with location services turned on it doing that. Which means pretty much every smart phone. Pardon my ignorance, is the phone logging your ever movement 24/7? Is it storing that data in a place that is easy to access/unencrypted?

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) people do that on their own already when they constantly feel the need to "check-in" everywhere they go on their yelp app not everyone. "check-in" is a very small segment of the population. This tracks EVERY iPhone user who has iOS4 on their phone without them even knowing it.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) what a fun little day this has been so far. 420 How are you celebrating the day we remember the last naval battle in Byzantine history?

New Comiskey Park, or US Cellular Field, turns 20 today
HuskyCaucasian replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) IMO U.S. Cellular should have had a retractable dome from the get go. Imagine how nice it would be to go to games when during crappy weather like we've been having. I would go to MANY more games if the stadium had a roof. It's working for Miller Park. Comiskey was built before the retractable roof fad. Back then it was crazy expensive to add a retractable to a stadium, the price has come down, but it is still not cheep. Additionally, baseball should be played outside during the summer. I only like domes/retractable roofs if they are in a climates like Texas, Florida, and even a northern city like Minneapolis. QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) bear weather. That's ludicrous. I would kill for a retractable roof at this point. I have been prepared to go to 2 more sox games already this year, but I just refuse to go when it's 40 degrees and sleeting. Ironically, my stance on Football stadiums is the opposite of baseball. I think northern football stadiums SHOULD have retractable roof to protect from the bitter cold, while southern ones should be open air. -
New Comiskey Park, or US Cellular Field, turns 20 today

1991 Comiskey is a VERY different park then 2011 US Cellular. The changes they have made make the park a completely different experience, and I love it. -
I saw this the other day... OOPS!

QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 01:06 AM) I thought there was some "technical" reason that a la carte isn't feasible, but I could be making that up. I would love to start me up an a la carte cable company, I feel I'd make billions. With cable going digital, there are no real technical reasons against a la carte. It's 100% $$$$$. Here's an article from the New Yorker on the subject. Also, this article in the Atlantic has a good way of looking at it: Bundles increase viewers, which in creases ad dollars. a la carte drives down viewers, which decreases ad dollars, which will increase the cost of the channel to the viewer. Basically, if a channel charges $2/month for Comcast to carry it, an a la carte plan might cost $4 or more for that channel.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Also was saying he didn't understand why Rose was getting all those calls when he was throwing his body into the defenders. STFU LMAO! There should have been at least 4 flagrants called that I saw.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) I love Jo. Play of the game in my opinion. The technical, followed by the missed FT, followed by the arm waving.

So would it be fair to say that it's almost a lock that the Kings will move to Anaheim next year?

QUOTE (DukeofChicago88 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) This board is way too superstitious I HATE baseball superstition. If there's a perfect game in the 7th, I'll say it. Why? Because it doesnt impact the pitcher if some guy in his office at work says it!

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) There's already a NHL conspiracy against them because it's in the best interest of the league for a US team to win. "The business plan of the NHL has always been about gaining revenue from a national USA TV contract. Take that out of the fiscal equation and many USA franchises just don't add up. The NHL cannot exist as it is presently formatted if it becomes a gate driven enterprise! If you accept this premise then consider the 2011 playoffs. The #1 team in the NHL is the Vancouver Canucks. A deep run into the playoffs and heaven bid a CUP win by the Canucks is definitely not a good thing for the league. Let alone the time difference which takes the East coast out of viewership.... IMO the Canucks will have to outplay their competiton by a sizeable margin to gain Stanley. THe hockey establishment will be working against them on and off the ice. Review the '82 and '94 runs to refresh your awareness levels Canuck fans. Roger put the towel on that stick for a reason! Replay the Game 7 at New York in '94 and watch the reffing in that game." Also, the Hossa goal allowed in the St Louis game is proof the league is behind Chicago. I love crazy conspiracies.
