QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 07:13 AM) It'd make much more sense moving Dallas to the East (SE) and then Winnipeg to the NW with Vancouver shifting to the Pacific. Or doing something with moving Nashville to the SE, Winnipeg to the NW and Chicago to the Central. I think this might work as well:

A lot of jobs I apply for have an option on the application that says "May we contact this employer?". Is it considered a negative if I say no?

Cavs/Pistons/TWolves Pistons trade Rip and the 8th to Cavs for a 2nd Rounder Cavs buyout Rip, trade 8th and 4th to TWolves for 2nd Overall and 2nd Rounder. Cavs get Irving-Williams and TWolves can snag Kanter to play alongside Love/Johnson/Beasley is that official?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) Oh it's the total opposite. If people think the stuff the owners of the NFL are trying to force onto the players are bad, wait until you see what Stern has in mind. Even though it was a 50 game season, the 1998-1999 season wasn't too far away from being totally wiped out, and the league was in better shape back then. There are so many teams losing money right now, and that combined for Stern's demand for a hard, low salary cap is going to cause a long stalemate. and contraction has floated about. It might be a bargining ploy, but I think it's possible. (My personal opinion is that each league (except maybe the NFL) needs to trim 2-6 teams.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) I do think the NBA union will fold a lot quicker than the NFL one. I think the opposite. The NFL is largely fighting over $1 billion.... how is that divided. There wont be a cut in player salaries. they just want more of the pie. The NBA has some serious financial issues and the solutions wont be easy to swallow: Reduced pay, contraction

It's all well and good to talk about next year, but this labor situation will NOT be pretty and I am almost 100% sure we'll miss games next year.

Quick question: I have been saving the Bulls highlights from each playoff game into my computer. the plan was to create a tribute video if the made it to the finals, or won the championship. If the Bulls fail to make the finals, should I still make the video?

Just to show you how out of touch this person is, when I told him that a 25% cut in pay would be "life altering" (as some described it), he seemed completely shocked and seemed stunned that I would have to consider finding a job somewhere else. He seemed sure my co-worker and I would stick around and just deal with the cut in pay.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 25, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) That does suck. Sounds like a "meeting with the Bobs." Except the "Bobs" were new management. This guys been hear for almost 20 years. In 6 years, he has had no clue what I do. I should note that a similar thing happened to a co-worked of mine too.

I just have to vent about this, but I am feeling more and more vindicated every day. About a month ago, I was informed by my "supervisor" (more on that in a minute) that my time and pay was being cut by 25%. He said many people (aka he and our board) did not feel my job was a full time position. In my 6+ years working here, I have had one performance evaluation and literally a handful of meetings with my supervision. (Seriously, probably one or two meetings a YEAR) There was an outcry by many connected to the organization that what was being done was complete BS and unethical/illegal. As a result, my "supervisor" and I now have weekly meetings to go over various topics. Our first two meeting were about my job description and all of the duties I perform here. We've never gone over my job description since I 've started and he commented "this is really poorly worded"... yea, I didnt write it! He also added that after looking over everything I do that it has been "eye opening". It's just sad and depressing that a decision was made by someone who rarely ever "supervises" me, and it ends up that he never really knew what I do. And, it's too late to reinstate my full time status since next years budget has already been approved. But, i feel vindicated that the outrage was justifed, but it doesnt mean much in the end.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) bad comparison, an e-reader isn't a tablet and a tablet isn't an e-reader. Different markets for different purposes. I went with the nook because it allowed me to read open-source books, like stuff off of project gutenberg and borrowed library books. The Kindle doesn't (or at least didn't). The Kindle is adding library checkout support and I head in passing yesterday that the Kindle is adding ePub support.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) You suck at technology? They released an update a while ago for faster screen refresh. I've played with one at a B&N and at BestBuy. I cant explain why, but I just didnt like it. The kindle was a much better device. The new Nook looks really great though.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) I hope you have a lot if storage space, because FLAC files are huge. I do, and I dont have a lot of CDs. Plus, FLAC is much smaller than WAV files.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) I'll be content with my first-gen nook until they develop color e-ink. I've played with the first-gen and i found it to be clunky, slow and hard to use.

I need some CD ripping advice. I want to go through and rip all of my CDs to an external hard drive. I have decided that I am going to rip each CD to a FLAC file and an MP3 file. I found software that can do BOTH at the same time on a Mac. Here's my quandry, it gives me the option to include the track number in front of the file name. So, each file would be [track number] [song title].mp3. I am not sure I like that because if i try to sort the files by name, it will sort by track number, not song title. Should I include the track number? The FLAC and MP3 files will include all of the album data embedded in them, so i wont lose the correct order.
