  1. Quentin really worries me for next year. Before he hurt his foot he wasnt hitting for average and since his return he isnt hitting for average. Ever since his wrist injury he hasnt been the same. His 15 HRs is positive (projects out to about 30 in a 162 game season). I need to see a .270+ BA form him to feel good.
  2. Anyone know if Flowers has a Twitter of Facebook account?
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 09:15 AM) Every team has one or two base clogers. we have too many.
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) I think theres a good chance he comes back. We are gonna need a lefty power bat. but not another base cloger.
  5. Anyone worried that Flowers only has 2 HRs in 31 games at AAA?
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) We have home born and bred citizens capable of leading us down a path we do not want to go. and that's why I am conflicted. It's a solid counter point.
  7. So, I've pondered this before and I still have yet to come to a clear decision on my stance. While I understand why this was implemented back then, I am not totally sure how applicable it is today. The example I use is if a kid was born in say... Sweden... and at the age of 3 moved to America with his family, by the time he is 35, he's probably going to be no less American than I am. So, whose to say he is less deserving to be President for the country he loves? But at the same time, i can see how it is a deterrent from keeping some guy who may have been born in say... Kenya... and be secretly Muslim, be a great charismatic guy,... only to use that charisma to transform America into some kind of socialist Muslim country. ok ok... you get the joke there, but the point is valid i think.
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 08:04 AM) SS mentioned it as an aside in the health care thread, I do not think we really discussed it. Does the natural born American clause help or hurt us? Obviously we have had some Presidents who were not born in the US. Looking over this list of Presidents who were not born in the US, seems like some damn fine Presidents George Washington John Adams Thomas Jefferson James Madison James Monroe John Quincy Adams Andrew Jackson William Henry Harrison I recall when Henry Kissinger was the poster child of someone who many would have liked to see run for President. TECHNICALLY, they were all born in what would become the United States of America... just not before we were independent from Great Brittan.
  9. This is great: Glenn Beck goes on a rant using "hidden words" about Obama and how they all have a deep meaning, then cant figure out how to spell Oligarchy properly... OLIGARHY is not a word!
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) NFL is going to be in for a huge lawsuit if they try and change the rules and then retroactively apply them to Cowboy stadium. From what ive heard the scoreboard can be moved (it has to be moved for some upcoming concert) but Jones likes its location. If its the same for both teams, it really doesnt matter to me, and if the rules were 85 ft he did follow them and gave it an extra 5 ft. I have to find an actual source on this, but I podcast I listen to said that apparently other stadiums have wanted to put screens at around 85-90 ft, but they brought in punters to see how high they could kick it and found out that 90ft is not nearly enough, so they put the screens up higher.
  11. Title of Episode 1 of Season 6:
  12. QUOTE (shag nite @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) I think he is making a ref to the fact that nick green jus dominated the sox and he is only a SS but then again i could be wrong.. ding ding
  13. We need help in the bullpen! Just sayin.
  14. I was laughing out loud watching that. That's really well subtitled.
  15. I just went to the MSI for the first time since I was in grade school... man was I impressed. My wife and I spent over an hour in just the Harry Potter exhibit that is there until the end of September. The rest of the pace was really cool. We didnt see everything, but I had a great time.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) and haha at Oprah being the first thought. It isnt Oprah. Her ego is way too big to do something like this without milking some press or a show out of it.
  17. Dont know if this is "weirdest" or not, but a nice fight got caught on camera the other day: TKO!
  18. Creapy, but Funny, iPhone Ad parody.
  19. Who's Paying to Kill Heathcare Reform?
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 10:13 AM) It's still proven that the majority of the country doesn't want this, and they are going to shove it right down our throat. Actually, a majority of the country DOES want health care reform... something like 60%, and if you remove the public option, it's well below 50%. I'll try and find a link to the poll I saw a bout a week ago.
