QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 08:14 AM) Sneak Peek at the 2009 Version Lots of money to spend in 2010. PS: it would be badass if someone with web-skills could turn this into an interactive website. The ability to plug-in names and figures to project signings and trades would be awesome.

I'd be curious of everyone's thoughts on Pat White of West Virginia. He's a great college player, but I dont think it'll translate to the next level.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) My friend who works at Treasury suggested this a couple weeks back when I floated the Jamie Dimon thing past him. Score one for him. it's good to have connections.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) And I quote from their caption: "Governor Sarah Palin keeps talking while turkeys get slaughtered behind her." That guy in the background is funny. He keeps looking at the camera as if to say "are you REALLY going to have her talk with me in the background killing turkeys?" Also, isnt there some funny symbolism that she just keeps talking and talking while carnage is going on behind her?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 06:57 AM) "Breaking News" used to mean something important was happening. Now its used by the cable news networks to mean "story we are currently talking about whose details may be at least 24 hours old." :notworthy Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I'll have a TV on in my office and hear the breaking news jingle and think "OMG, what just happened?". I look over... a man is caught in a tree!

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) Yes, that's why I said consumer prices, not energy prices. I guess I didnt see what you meant. I see them as bing the same. Consumer Energy Prices. What did you mean?- Waxman Dethrones Dingell as Chairman
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 12:42 PM) The latter example you give would not. It could raise CONSUMER prices, but not energy costs. In fact, that would end up lowering energy costs. I'm really more talking about passing along the costs of the buildout onto the consumer. "Fine, you want solar power, you're gonna pay more". Now once it is all installed and they are payed for, the cost may go now. In the long run, it'll be cheaper. I'm not saying this WILL happen, but it could.- Congressional Elections Results Thread

I tend to be of the thought that if more than one circle is filled, throw out the vote. If it's a matter of a small mark and a full circle... full circle counts. Corssouts / underlines... throwout. That arrow thing... hard to tell it's an arrow. I'd go with the circle.- Obama's Cabinet and Staff
QUOTE (Cknolls @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:57 AM) Like how her bank failed. That's good for the resume. Penny Pritzker: I'm not in the running- Is Moose a HoF Pitcher?
He's been a pretty solid pitcher his entire career. Combine that with great stats... yea, he'll get in the 2nd or 3rd time around (assuming there isnt a weak class his first year). He isnt a "star" play which people often equate to HoF. But sometimes, above average performance for an extended period of time is deserving of the Hall. And he's deserving in my opinion.- Waxman Dethrones Dingell as Chairman
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) What regulations do you feel could be implemented that would double energy costs? You could argue carbon caps would. Also, if there was some sort of an "renewable energy" mandate, it might force companies to invest money in solar or wind. And to afford that, they may have to raise prices.- Congressional Elections Results Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) Here's about 10 more examples of challenged ballots from Minnesota Public Radio. I think this one is my favorite: some voters really are stupid- Waxman Dethrones Dingell as Chairman
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) Should be a very good thing for the economy. My wife and I are looking to move to Iowa here in the next two years. If they announced a massive windmill farm project in eastern to central Iowa, I'd gladly apply and move tomorrow. So, I think a massive energy building project would be great for the economy.- Waxman Dethrones Dingell as Chairman
QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) I am fine with drilling here in America if there are other conditions attached to it, because that would mean it was one part of a multifaceted solution. "Drill baby drill" is not a solution by itself, it's a weak ass bandaid. the question is if a bandaid will really fix a gaping stab wound. Many of us say no. Others say it's better than gushing blood everywhere.- Waxman Dethrones Dingell as Chairman
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) On energy policy, yeah, I think that's the plan. And, good. Better than Drill, Dumbasses, Drill. Agreed. I think both sides of the aisle want some for of energy policy reform / independence. Some say the road is to drill in America and have a slower transition. Others say let's not baby this, let's take it on hard, fast and with passion (eek, I am i stil talkig about energy policy? lol) It's really a matter of philosophy in my opinion. Waxman / Obama want it hard, fast, and with passion- Waxman Dethrones Dingell as Chairman
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) This is a message. It says not only that change is coming, but also, that Detroit's symbol of energy policy is being supplanted by something more in the California mode. More environmentally friendly, and probably a much bigger emphasis on alternatives, which is a good thing. I agree 100%. This was a clear message that Detroit better get it's arse in gear.- Waxman Dethrones Dingell as Chairman
