  1. Obama just "resigned membership" from Trinity United Church.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) God I just want this to end this week... I just updated my post with number. This ends by Friday at the latest.
  3. MSNBC is reporting a MI deal. 69-59 counted as half. This would make the "finish line" 2118 delegates. Obama currently has 2046. Obam needs 72 delegates to close the deal. MSNBC also projects that Obama will get 9 of Edwards 13 delegates in FL. That makes 2049.5 out of 2118 needed. Factor in the upcoming primary projections. Obama would need only 30 of the remaining 218.5 delegates to win.
  4. Another Michigan compromise -- splitting the state's delegates 50-50 between Obama and Clinton - was three votes shy of receiving majority support from the Rules and Bylaws Committee, The Huffington Post was told. All reports seem to point to FL being a done deal (awarded as voted, but delegate votes count as half). The hang up is MI. Ickes, Tina Flournoy and Clinton camp appear unwilling to budge on 73 for Clinton and none for Obama. If MI gets awarded 64-64 and cut in half, Obama clinches the nomination today. Well, not TECHNICALLY, but he would have 50.65% of all possible pledged delegates. If MI gets awarded 69-59 to Clinton and cut in half, Obama clinches the nomination today with 50.58% of all possible pledged delegates.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ May 31, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) That was not a primary. That was not a primary. AMEN!!!
  6. Also, according to Wikipedia, 22 of the 55 "uncommitted" delegates in MI are going to vote Obama.
  7. FYI: MSNBC is reporting that Clinton wants to "punt" the MI issue to the credentials committee in a few months (aka they take this to the convention), but they dont have the votes. It is LOOKING like MI will be awarded 69-59 using "states rights" as the argument that they can do as they wish with their states delegates.
  8. FYI: The Clinton campaign is DESPERATELY trying to push the popular vote. Assuming FL is a done deal, their votes will now be factored into the national popular vote. I have Obama +179,435 minus MI.
  9. OMG! I love Donna Brazile! She just laid the smack down. I know my momma rose me to obey the rules. And if you go changing the rules after the fact... we call that cheatin'. Fast Forward to 3:15
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 31, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) lol, I'm starting to like Carl Levin. Basically a diplomatic way of saying STFU. The chairman can't shut Ickes up though. Ickes asked like 3 or 4 questions when he was supposed to only asked one. Levin: I'm not sure which of your 3 questiosn to answer first. that was classic.
  11. I love how EVERY time Ickies tries to push Clinton propganda on the people representing the states they come back with a witty remark and put him in his place. It's AWESOME!
  12. I really dislike Herold Ickies (what a perfect last name) being allowed to work on this DNC board. It's one thing to have supporters n the board. It's a WHOLE other deal to have the head of the campaign.

  16. QUOTE (bmags @ May 30, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) can you verify that headbanging was not part of his speech? I'd give him props if it was
  17. McCain in trouble with is recollection of facts again... He said: "I can look you in the eye and tell you it's succeeding. We have drawn down to pre-surge levels. Basra, Mosul and now Sadr City are quiet." Not so much, countered the Obama campaign, which pointed out that troop levels are at 155,000 right now, well above the 130,000 pre-surge mark. Then McCain said: well... well..... I... umm..... well.... "To get into a debate about a verb tense rather than the real fundamental national security issues at stake is really a distraction," Pay no attention to me getting it wrong. That's not the issue. The Washington Post: Everybody misspeaks once in a while. But the attempt by the McCain media machine to spin the mistake as a simple matter of "verb tenses" is an insult to our intelligence. Obama responds to the "nitpicking" charge: Just like George Bush, when he was presented with the truth, he just dug in and refused to admit his mistake. His campaign said it amounts to “nitpicking.” Well I don’t think tens of thousands of American troops amounts to nitpicking. Tell that to the young men and women who are serving bravely and brilliantly under our flag. Tell that to the families who have seen their loved ones fight tour after tour after tour of duty in a war that should’ve never been authorized and never been waged. (head banging not part of his speech. lol)
  18. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 30, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) Did it show a picture of the alien anywhere? If not I still contest it might damn well be Sam Cassell. No video yet, but a screen cap...
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 30, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) looks like a jack and kelly osbourne mashup Good call! Exactly right!
  20. QUOTE (mreye @ May 30, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) What is the law exactly? I believe they can talk about any political issue, but have to stop short of pointing out which candidate agrees / disagrees with the church's beliefs. I think you may be right. However, i think it also includes a church publically endorsing a candidate. The PERSON can when not on official church business (like in your free time), but he can not use the church to work with a candidate.
