I thought I might give this a quick plug if you dont mind. "The Cost of Freedom" Vietnam Traveling Wall is in Schaumburg this Memorial Day Weekend (Today - Monday night). It's being hosted at Alexian Field (aka Schaumburg Flyers Stadium) and is open 8AM to 8PM. I was on the committee to help bring this wall here and plan all the events of the weekend. I am the "Sound Coordinator" and running sound for all the various events and choirs/Bands playing this weekend (except Saturday morning). It's a really cool event and I would encourage those in the area to stop by. A list of the special programs can be seen here.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) You do realize that there is a constitutional amendment that changed that and more importantly, WHY, right? Of course I know that. I am just saying I thought it's a cool idea. Not that it would WORK, but I like it.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 23, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) Team of rivals? That's really cool to see. I like the old original idea of throwing everyone into the pot, whoever gets the most votes is President, the second most is vice-president.

Good news for Obama keeps on rolling in...

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 22, 2008 -> 11:23 PM) I assume you mean wheel his way to re-election. I'm a horrible person. I still love you, Franklin. I have a friend show says he is going to hell and driving the bus. He just called me to say there is a seat open near the back.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) From what I recall reading, it is $21 million including those loans. ahhh ok. I stand corrected.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) Actually, the $31 million in debt was a mistake, it's actually around $21 million. I think it was an LA Times missprint if I recall correctly, but it's so unimportant I'm not going to bother to look. i think 31 might factor in her $11 million in personal loans.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 22, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) We don't have any right to McCain's medical records, IMO, beyond a basic "he has a good bill of health." exactly my point. I can only imagine f FDR tried t run for re-election today. He'd have been skewered by the press.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Hmmm...well, this is certainly convenient. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this. I dont believe there is a need to release his records to every single media agency and every blog in the world. I wouldnt want my unexciting records out there either. A few "responsible" news agencies wont play up his most recent prostate exam as a news story. If there is something to see, they'll report it..

It's official! The Clinton campaign has said on the record that Obama should get NO delegates out of MI at all. none. zero. zip. He wasnt on the ballot, he gets none.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 22, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) If Obama can get a nice lead in VA, that changes the map drastically. Let me explain that statement: Based on 270toWin.com's interactive map and states that Obama will win big or has a solid chance of winning, he can win the nomination with the following states: Washington, Oregon, Cali, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, DC, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine. (I hope I got them all). That gives Obama 274 electoral votes (not including the one or two he might get in Nebraska which isnt winner take all) WITH Virginia- Obama can lose Minnesota or Wisconsin. WITH Virginia- he can lose 2 of the following 3 out-west states: Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico. WITH Virginia- He can lose Michigan as long as he wins the 3 out-west swing states. It gives him more flexibility.

I am REALLY liking SurveyUSA's polling. THey are doing an INCREDIBLE job! What might be more interesting is that Obama is leaving in VA by 8! If Obama can get a nice lead in VA, that changes the map drastically.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 22, 2008 -> 08:43 AM) He also mentioned the possibilty of Marion with Hinrich being the bait. Rose - Gordon - Deng - Shawn Marion - Noah :pray -

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 20, 2008 -> 10:10 AM) I'd like to add to that one... give up plastic bags (or charge customers 5 cents per bag, like Ikea does) My wife bought 6 cloth bags that we take with us everywhere we do our grocery shopping.

QUOTE (jackie hayes @ May 21, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) I have no idea at all if this is realistic, but just suppose the Bulls were able to trade for another good, young pg. To make it concrete, say there's an opportunity to trade for Calderon. For those who prefer Rose, would you switch if the alternative was Calderon + Beasley, or would you stick with Rose? Honest question, I'm not trying to lead, and I don't know which way I'd go. I'm just curious what the reactions will be. I have said i prefer rose, but Pax has a LOT of options ont he table. If the Bulls can trade for an above average PG, then they can grab Beasley. If they can trade Gordon and/or Kirk for a big center, then I would take Rose. I am ok either way, but i prefer Rose. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 21, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) I think a trade will involve a guard or guards (Ben Gordon sign and trade perhaps or maybe just dumping Hinrich for bad contracts involving big men) to gain a bit more roster balance and take Rose. The alternative, also possible, is trading Gooden (he might actually have decent value) and then taking Beasley. Another alternative might be to trade Tyrus, but I don't think and don't hope Paxson has given up on him yet. What is best for the Bull is that all those scenarios are on the table. The Bulls can talk around, see what people are willing to do and truely do what is best for the Bulls... not just for the next 2 years, but the next 10. If the Bulls can send the guards packing for a Big man and then draft rose it's good. If the bulls can send one of our big men and Gordon for a SG and draft Beasley... it's good as well. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 21, 2008 -> 11:38 AM) I love that the Knicks fans are crying fix. KNICKS FANS, whose run of being good in the 90's was based on the draft lottery being invented, and fixed, for the soul purpose of saving their franchise with Patrick Ewing. That is delicious irony, and I just love how they still hate us for the 90's, Curry trade, and now this. And I'm seeming to gather that a lot of people agree that we should try and package some of the guys we have now in a trade before the draft, and pick according to who we can trade and what we get back. I would agree with that, as long as we don't trade the pick (with the exception of if Miami wants to move up the one spot). I'll trade some of our guys to the Knicks for a few first round picks -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) Then why does everyone assume the popular vote would have gone to Gore in 2000 if those had been the rules instead of the electoral college? Isn't that changing the rules in the middle of the game? Gore DID win the popular vote, but we run on the electoral college system. So, Bush won fair and square. The analogy would be if between Nov and January, congress pushed through an amendment that got rid of the electoral college and it was ratified by 2/3 majority of states and made retroactive to the previous election. Then Gore would have won.
