2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) The more I hear about it, the more that I think that the Bulls are going to be used as a tool for Melo to get paid by the Knicks. He loves New York. Yeah...

2014 MLB catch-all thread
AJ has never been known as the type of player that has an interest in putting his replacement under his wing. He wants to play and get paid as long as possible. Maybe he changes because he sees the end soon; but, I doubt it.

Technology catch-all thread
I was watching 40 Year Old Virgin the other night. The electronics that they were selling in the movie was stuff that would be ignored in Goodwill these days.

Teams Interested in Viciedo
If the Red sox want Viciedo, would they be interested Conor Gillaspie as well? He looks like a natural hitter for Fenway.

When Does Flowers Get Replaced As Everyday Catcher?
Kurt Suzuki would be a good fill-in for 2015 while Nieto gets AAA at-bats next season.

Hawk Harrelson Drinking Game Coozies
Truth is: if you use it to drink Big Hurt Beer, you can open a hole in the Space-Time Continuum.

Some phrases need official retiring.
Dragging out random former Sox players for no purpose other than peppering your comments. Rocky Biddle would not approve.

Worst President since WWII?
Truman and Ford were both pretty bad. Carter was not prepared for the job and GW Bush bankrupted us.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Pippen was apparently at the dinner with Melo & Bulls last night. Interesting. You wonder if Pippen's wife was taking out La La? Not a tip was found that night.

2014 MLB catch-all thread
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 04:16 AM) I remember listening to that game on the radio at work. It was a Sunday day game and Glen Hibbard had a no hitter into the 6th. I was at home and listening on the radio as well. Greg Hibbard was an underrated pitcher.

Should He or Shouldn't He ?
Yoenis Cespedes 2nd half 2013: 11 37 .261 .296 .473 - better than his first half. Prince Fielder 2nd half 2012: 15 45 .331 .448 .558 Robinson Cano 2nd half 2011: 13 61 .309 .358 .547 David Ortiz 2nd half 2010: 14 45 .277 .355 .498 - some decline from first half. Most were as good if not better than their first halves after winning the HR derby.

Should He or Shouldn't He ?
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) Frank participated in 1994 and 1995. His line for the next two weeks in 1994 - .264/.423/.509 with 3 HRs, in 1995 - .358/.493/.698 with 4 HRs So maybe it did affect him in 1994 as his OPS was nearly 300 points lower for the next couple weeks compared to his season line, but he seemed to get better in 1995, so who knows. It just goes to show how great Frank was. Most guys would kill for a .932 OPS and that was him when he was "struggling". Well, he got the MVP in 1994 and finished with .358/.493/.698 with 4 HRs in '95. Neither was a bad thing. Hawk's opinion on baseball is too hyperbolic to be taken as truth.

Should He or Shouldn't He ?
Sure he should. Frank Thomas was awesome in the Derby and it didn't mess his swing up at all.

Fantasy League Advice
Mauer is not really much of a fantasy option except BA, and he loses his catching position in fantasy next year. Rendon has potential, Jaso is a decent waiver wire catcher. If it's a keeper league, and you are out of it, it's not a horrible deal. Rendon could be a top 10 2B in a few years if he stays there.
