Arena player dies after spinal injury
knightni replied to Goldmember's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
You put a violent sport like tackle football in a small area, stuff can happen. I'm surprised that this is the first time that something severe has occured. I'm not condoning the guy's death, but Arena football is a sport, where, by playing it, you are just asking for a career ending injury. Unfortunately, the worst happened. I wish only the best for Mr Lucas' family and hope that Arena football can take this situation and turn it into a positive safety issue. Kind of like Earnhardt's death and the insitution of the HANS device in NASCAR. -

I have seen quite a few times in ST and early season where he double-pumps and makes the plays close at 1b, or the runner beats the throw.

Do the Bulls really need Eddy next year?
knightni replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Maybe we could get a mad scientist to merge Curry and Chandler together, so the Bulls can have a Shaq clone. -
It seemed a tad bit yellow to me. I adjusted the color in it. What do you think?

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) has currys game improved or gotten worse? It has improved. I am confident it will continue to improve. He will get more rebounds because he and scott skiles said so. I don't know if Skiles will around long enough to keep holding Curry's hand and directing him in the right direction. It could take 4-5 more years for Curry to figure out how to rebound. -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) He dominates in the paint. You have to be a true Eddy-hater to say that he can't score at will in the paint. Interesting to note: According to Red Kerr and Tom Dore, he was leading the NBA in offensive fouls when last he was on the floor. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Curry DOES NOT have a knack for rebounding, he's not passionate about winning, he doesn't have a respectable work ethic unless it's his contract year, etc. He's really a big dope, no offense to the guy. Just because there's a leaguewide scoring drought at C doesn't mean that we have to give a max contract to a guy with no heart. I have a sinking feeling that after he gets "paid", that he will balloon back up over 300 and slack off again. -
The Sox player it hurt to lose the most - Robin Ventura Favorite Former player - Carlton Fisk [it hurt more when he went into the Hall as a Sawk and then he went to the "Dark Side" by supporting those Cubbie-like Red Sawks in everyday matters.] "Oh yeah, 1975 was great!" :rolly

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) How much of our 4-1 record is attributed to Uribe's spectacular D play at SS? I think it's quite a bit. He's gotten tough outs that could have stretched innings & changed the momentum of the game. That was all KW's doing. A trade many of us didn't like. But we didn't know he could have such an impact in the field. I disagree, Uribe's D has been spotty. He double-pumps quite often. I think too much of Jose V rubbed off on him. Defensively AND at the plate.

The Cowboys are on the clock, again
knightni replied to knightni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Okay, I know that it is a tie, but we need to "get-a-move-on" with these picks. The Dallas fans say Brown, so Brown is the pick.
