QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) In basic yahoo format, Billingsley has never been a top 25 pitcher - I'll take the Ace from Boston Lester will not have better stats than Romero and Billingsley will put together. If Lester even improves off of his 2008 stats (he was injured in '09), you're looking at 17 wins, ERA of 3.20, and 170 Ks. That's worse than Billingsley did by himself in 2008 before last year's minor regression. Romero was very good in his first season in the majors last year before injury. 13 wins, 4.30 ERA 141K in only 178 IP. So, if Billingsley gets even close to 2008, you're looking at: 15 W 3.60 ERA 170 K Romero's been great so far, he could be: 16 W 3.80 ERA 180 K Gregg is way over his head so far this year; if he pitches decent in the AL you're looking at: 2 W 4.20 ERA 65 K 25 SV If he reverts back to last year: 4 W 4.78 ERA 45 K 15 SV - and he loses the closer job by the Break. So, Lester: 17 W 3.20 ERA 170 K Gregg: 2 W 4.20 ERA 65K 25 SV for Billingsley: 15 W 3.60 ERA 170 K Romero: 16 W 3.80 ERA 180 K You lose 12 W ERA is about even and lose 115 K - gain a few saves - but you might get 15-20 saves off of the waiver wire.

If you're KW, who's on your BIG BOARD to replace Ozzie?

Bell does a great job in scouting but is mediocre as a manager. Why give him the job unless you're just pandering to him? -
4/30 GT White Sox @ Yankees - 6:05pm CDT - WCIU

Lucy's been Garcia's catcher - hasn't he? -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) I don't know how the ticket distribution is gonna work, but I have a feeling that crowd in Toronto is gonna be very pro-Bears. A lot of Canadians look like Mike Ditka - circa 1985.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) When Jamal was drafted in 2000, he was ridiculously skinny. I am actually pretty impressed with the progression of his career, he's a legit player right now and seems to have learned the value of defense. At least he's eating smarter when he gets the "munchies."

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Really??? IMO, thats a great trade. Despite his bad start, Lester can still be a top-15 SP and although Gregg will blow up at some point, he will still rack up the saves until then. Billingsley has the potential, but something hasn't seemed right since the middle of last year and Romero is decent, but not that good to worry about trading him. You're in essence trading two top 25 SPs for one top 25 guy. Gregg's success is negligible, just like Lester's failure, but Romero has a past history of success, and Billingsley is overdue on breaking out.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) Behind? If I had to guess, I'd say Jorge Cantu of Florida.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) Just traded Billingsley and Romero to get Kevin Gregg and Jon Lester (who I wanted badly as he is always a bad early month pitcher) Wow. I wouldn't have made that trade.

Joel Skinner might be interesting. But, there's no point to "Fire Ozzie" threads now anyway. If he goes, it'll be after the season. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Does the "JFP" in the subtitle of the game thread stand for Jake f***ing Peavy? If so, is that said the same way Red Sox fans say Bucky f***ing Dent? Yes. No.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Trevor Hoffman blew a save to PIT last night on a solo HR to Ronny Cedeno & a grand slam to Doumit. Doumit hits another HR off him in the 9th today, Brewers down in the 10th. Hoffman is now 3 for 7 in saves, ERA of 13.00 QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) I think his time has come. It was a good run while it lasted... I've already waived him.

Braves might if they aren't happy with Glaus. Cubs might stick with Lee until at least 2012 - depending on his production. Dodgers might want to upgrade Loney. Giants could use a more powerful 1B than Huff. Mariners could use a better option than Kotchman. Mets may look if Davis slumps. Red Sox may be interested, but Youkilis is already there. Rockies have a few year$ left in Helton. The Red Sox make the most sense in a Midas-ian sort of way. The Cubs might be second, but not until the offseason - would they have the pieces to do it and would Milwaukee trade in the division? However, Seattle makes a lot of sense as a dark horse. Griffey will retire, they have a decent minor league system, and they've been known to spend the cash on occasion.

I work in Indiana and live in Michigan. Of course, it's only a 20 miles round-trip...

If Harden didn't struggle with his pitch counts so bad, I'd swear that Ozzie was setting him up for a no-hit opportunity with that lineup. Yuck.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) Its power level is well over 9000. Yup. BBR takes it to 11.

The Bears can win 9, I think. But who knows if that can get them into the playoffs or not. I keep having nightmares about Suh crushing Kreutz and Cutler all at one time. I can't imagine what Cutler himself will feel like.
