White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) Cardinals are going to have money to spend, according to their broadcasters tonight. Their attendance is going to be nearly 500k more than they expected. Maybe they'll bring back Marquis for $12 mil a year...

White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) He's at least 2 years away, and him or Rios could slide into a corner spot. Mitchell is probably 3 years away. Quentin could be the DH by then.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) Cowley: "Dye just called the move for Rios "shocking." He said he hopes it doesn't mean his end is coming after this season." Perhaps if Dye could still play in the OF he wouldn't need to be so shocked.

White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) Wait, what does that mean in terms of Podsednik? Probably that he gets two starts in LF, one in center a week and is the #1 pinch runner.

I hope that Ricciardi loses his job over the money that he wasted. Ryan, Wells, Rolen, Rios, Overbay...

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
Pods will lose the most time. Q Rios Dye is a better OF anyway.

How many more starts does Jose get?
QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) 8 Games with Castro: Contreras is 4-4, 53.2 IP, 41 Hits allowed, 17 earned runs allowed, 43 K, 15 walks, 2.88 ERA before todays game with AJ (8 Games) Contreras is 0-6, 39 IP, 50 Hits allowed, 36 earned runs allowed, 28 K, 22 walks, 8.31 ERA Clearly better with Castro. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) 2.88 ERA with Castro in 8 games compared to 8.31 ERA with AJ in 8 games, Ozzie should look at these numbers and only allow Castro to catch Contreras. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) This season: 8 Games with Castro: Contreras is 4-4, 53.2 IP, 41 Hits allowed, 17 earned runs allowed, 43 K, 15 walks, 2.88 ERA 9 Games with AJ: Contreras is 0-7, 43.2 IP, 56 Hits allowed, 38 earned runs allowed, 30 K, 24 walks, 7.91 ERA We should have Castro catch his next game and take it from there. You're kidding, right...?

How many more starts does Jose get?
Contreras will be nothing more than a #5 after August anyway. There's not much help to be had there.
-
How many more starts does Jose get?
I'd rather struggle with a rookie than struggle with a mediocre veteran.

Our DH for next year?
That's because Griffey was a seminal player. He and Thomas were the Michael Jordans of baseball from 1990 to 2000. If you grew up in the late 80s/early 90s, even if you weren't a Mariners fan, you were a Griffey fan just because of how great he was.
