Our DH for next year?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 02:37 PM) My comment had nothing to do with Dye. It was about Thome, and how he really has never caught on here. He's been a good player, and very under appreciated. Thome is very popular and well-liked. It's just that Buehrle, Konerko, Pierzynski, and Dye have been on the team longer and are also great guys.

Our DH for next year?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) Considering what kind of guy Thome is, its amazing how little he has been appreciated relatively speaking since joining the White Sox. Dye might outproduce him the next couple of years, but the difference in probable paychecks and not knowing how Dye would adjust to being a DH or even if it was something he would be a party to, makes the decision pretty easy. Dye won the White Sox nomination for the Roberto Clemente Award this year and is on the United Way commercials.

Our DH for next year?
If Dye would agree to LF, his defense might be better.

Is Dye being traded for Rios???
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) They wouldn't. They won't. $15. More like...They wouldn't. They won't. /thread

Is Dye being traded for Rios???
Why would the Sox get rid of arguably their best hitter if they are in a pennant race?

Vicente Padilla DFA
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 11:28 PM) Vincente Padilla is essentially Bartolo Colon with less of a pedigree and more of an attitude. Colon eats the Pedigree.

Billy Mays dead
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 01:45 AM) Imagine being his dealer. You tell him to be discreet when he shows up and when he does, he goes "HI EVERYONE, BILLY MAYS HERE FOR COCAINE" Billy Mays' dealer: "Yo b****; you best be keepin' it down, or we'll have the po' po' on our asses."

Talk Chicago Sports
So, you want to include every sport but football in a sports subforum? It would be all or nothing if something does happen. Right now, I think that they are fine with keeping everything how it is.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Though such an occurrence could pave the way for Flowers to be playing every day as DH and catcher against lefties. Were he to be ready of course. You really shouldn't DH your backup catcher.

They used to have Matt Stairs in RF - talk about scary.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) With Danks and Mitchell poised to be coming up within a year or two is is worth taking on a long contract with an underachieving Rios? Could this be a knee jerk reaction to the 3 errors per game we've seen the team put up the last 2 weeks? EDIT: That last statement is obviously an exaggeration but it sure feels like it's been 3 errors/game. I'd rather have a proactive GM than a reactive one.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Yep but there's also no good reason for the Orioles, Indians, Royals or Athletics to pass on Fields, especially the Orioles who have shown interest in him in the past. They could trade Fields to whomever claims him for guys not on the 40, then trade those guys to Toronto.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
$10 mil a year for a guy of Rios' talent is a better deal than most of the shlubs who will be free agents this offseason. Plus, he won't cost a 1st round pick in compensation.

Smoltz DFA'ed
He can move to the bullpen. He's done it before.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
The problem is, the Sox could end up with too many RHBs by 2010 and not enough lefties.

Pods
I guess that it hinges on Rios.

Probably not on the 40 man, either.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (beck72 @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 08:05 AM) Except he wouldn't make it through waivers. I'd look for guys having good years who probably wouldn't have a spot on the sox-Justin Cassel, Stefan Gartrell, CJ Retherford, one of the sox thirdbasemen in the lower minors [Gilmore or Morel]. 2-3 guys who Toronto could use, and that would have them chip in some cash in a deal. Fields might make it through...
