    JEFF NELSON

QUOTE(JimH @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) Jason what are your minor league contacts telling you about Nelson? I know he's still under evaluation and that process will likely run through this week at least. Do they think he can still get major league hitters out? Also am I correct in thinking the White Sox are higher on this Augustin Montero guy than this board? Trust me, the Sox brass is far from thinking Nelson is an option.

    JEFF NELSON

QUOTE(WCSox @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) No he didn't. After the double-play-that-wasn't, they still had the lead with two outs with a runner on first. He then gave up a triple and two-run homer. Did his job, my ass. Maybe if: Uribe would have done his job with the double play throw; Ozzie would have done his job by putting Jenks or Politte in to pitch to Barett... ( I love Ozzie but even he said he screwed up).........
  3. Who the heck is out there that we would have a possible realistic chance of getting in a trade of some sort? Is there anyone out there with a team that knows it will be out of it ( KC, Florida, etc) that can help?
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 22, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) Did you expect Jenks to go 50 for 50 in save opps? I certainly didn't. That's unheard of. Vazquez being left in too long, meh, that's questionable stuff Ozzie has always done. Uribe "f***ing up" was the result of Cedeno sliding into 2B the right way. I blame today's loss(if I had to) more on Count being taken out and Count being taken out for Cotts at that. Ozzie admitted he blew this game. With 2 outs why have Cotts pitch to Barret? Why not have Jenks your closer to get the most important out of the game at the time??????

QUOTE(JimH @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) 9 of his 12 pitches were strikes today, for what that's worth. He's almost 40 so I doubt he'll ever have the high 90's velocity again but the key is, can he get major league hitters out. Like, say, Michael Barrett in an 8th inning situation. You mean say like a........ Bobby Jenks?
  6. Word is he isn't close to being an option and probablt won't ever be. His fastball is a low 80's pitch and he isn't ever going to be the "good" Jeff Nelson.

    SPIDALE

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Typically one becomes a cousin by being the son or daughter of the sibling of your mother or father. Not sure in this case, but that is how I see it happen in most cases. you couldn't resist could you? I asked because maybe i know the person... how as in how are you related specifically.

    SPIDALE

Anyone know if he hooked on with another team?
  10. How could they actually think they weren't going to have bullpen trouble? Everyone in MLB questioned it? Boone Logan got alot of minor leagers out in spring training so his stock went up. Thorton was a bust in Seattle so why think he was going to turn it around here? To start the season with this mess is rediculous. This will force Ozzie to keep the starters in to long which will wear those guys out. You tell me there was not better options then Logan and Thornton? Aw heck, i want Everett, Rowand, Timo, El Duque, Viscaiano, and Marte back ....
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Right now one thing really bothers me and it is just how bad 2 of our bullpen guys are... KW should have done better research on Hermy to find out whether he was going to be ready for the season. Now we are stuck with a suspect bullpen due to Logan and Thornton. I don't think we're going to be able to count on those guys if we want to win the division again. The pen, quite frankly is just sad. IMO neither Logan or Thornton should be on a MLB roster. And using Logan against Hafner the other day was a joke. Spending over $100 million on the team and to have these two guys out there in the pen to me is just bad management by KW. I think we're going to be fine, but KW needs to look at the pen and think to himself, I f***ed this up and I need to make it right. Neither Logan or Thornton are going to cut it. We need help down there. You are so correct on all points. How the heck could we go into this season with Logan and Thornton? How do let Logan pitch to Hafner? They won with pitching and got stupid with this bullpen. This needs to be fixed now -but how??????
  12. Cmon guys, our bullpen is average at best and we aren't winning anything without that getting better. A lack of bullpen will mean Ozzie leaves his starters in longer then he should which will tax them.
  13. Does anyone really think this team can win this division with this bullpen? Nothing against Anderson but a raw rookie in center will hurt also. Logan, Thorton, no Hermanson, don't know what we will really get out of Jenks, Pods ,.......

    TEJADA

    TEJADA

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Why? Great hitting shortstop, great run producer, good D ( not as good as Uribe), add to Konerko, Thome..... Have enough to give Baltimore also to make it happen....
  17. 1. Think of all the 3 hole hitters in either league and then compare them to AJ, Everett or the flavor of the day Rowand. That shows one of our biggest problems. I know that AJ is only in the 3 hole because Everett is slumping but cmon, that is the best we can do? It really shows a difficiency in this team. Look at all the past World Series winners ( or at least the last 5 years) and name who was the 3 hitter. They are all "studs". Opponents just have to make sure Konerko doesn't beat them and there is nothing to fear..... 2. i don't blame Ozzie for Rowand's poor bunt execution but Rowand shouldn't have been bunting then. TAKE A CHANCE ONCE IN AWHILE THAT SOMEONE WILL GET A HIT INSTEAD OF SACRIFICING ! OF YOUR 3 OUTS. When you play for one run you often get none or 1. Rowand is one of the few we have that coud hit a gap.... 3. SIT EVERETT DOWN ONE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4. Please, someone tell Uribe that he doesn't have to swing at every high pitched ball thrown to him. Tell him we are playing baseball-not homerun derby or 16" softball.
  18. bogie

    I thought..

Who is leaving? I'm staying to the end but that doesn't mean we cant say the truth. This is a team that DOESN'T HIT. The lineup is anemic. I don't care how many wins they have or end up with. Compare this lineup to the good teams and you will see thet are average inthat department. Ozzie has made his share of mistakes. We have a second year manager making second year mistakes. We have a closer that has been in the majors for 2 months. We sit our leadoff hitter. Our bench stinks. We have a manager that keeps putting Marte in when this guy is snakebit. We score 1 run in 2 games. Our centerfielder all of a sudden gets bad jumps on balls. Our shortstop swings like he is playing 16" softball.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 03:07 AM) I think this was a successful season because we will have at least 91 wins at the end of the season. It's a huge step forward for this franchise!!! Successful? You got to be kidding. This is a huge step backwards. This team is a 75 win team next year.
  20. This team has scored 1 run in the last two games. The pitching hasn't been stellar by any means but this lineup is really anemic. Who is there to fear? Lets face it, they were lucky in alot of games in the first half. Make sure Konerko doesn't beat you and your fine. Did anyone really think that this lineup would be better then last year without Ordonez, Lee, Thomas? Those teams didn't win s*** but that was because there wasn't enough pitching to win. Keep the hitters , get better pitching. Also, can we now close the Bobby Jenks expriment? Also, can we please play our leadoff hitter every game from here on out? Nothing against Pablo but what team sits there leadoff hitter so much? Especially the one player that could be the difference. Does Cleveland sit Grady Sizemore? Do the yankees sit Jeter? Doed Boston sit Damon? This isn't a choke because cleveland is out of their mind right now. This team was playing good the first half AND LUCKY. Luck in baseball doesn't last a full season.
  21. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 04:05 AM) How about a 3b who's hitting .435 in September with a 1.311 OPS? Can you do without that? If you want to badmouth Crede, at least do it when he's struggling. Shows you how bad he is at the plate- he is hitting .435 in Sept. and he still is hitting in the .230's. I can do without his bat the last two years. You want to keep someone because he had a good 19 days?
  22. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 04:00 AM) You forget so quickly that Crede started the rally which got the Sox on the board with the RBI single, eh? Yeah your right- we can't do without a .235 hitting third basemen. I can name 15 other third basemens i would rather have.
  23. 1. Rowand bunt in the 6th inning? 2. A.J having Jenks throw a fast ball on a 1-2 pitch to Boone. 3. Martr should have never seen that game. 4. Either Dye bunts again after the first attempt or he starts the bat off swinging OR get SOMEONE IN THEIR THAT CAN LAY DOWN A BUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5. Please start NOW figuring who will play 3B next year so we dont have to watch Crede swing and miss another 2 strike slider. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
