QUOTE(Giv20 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Jimbo is a Sox fan - his kid is the Cub fan. Poor bastard. JIMBO IS A CUB FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in the category of "i don't know what this means" and "useless information" Aaron Rowand ranks 23rd in total homeruns for a centerfielder. Do we have a problem here?

The patio is outstanding. They serve the best ribs in the city. Run by the Bertucci brothers a bunch of cool guys. Alot of hot chicks in there too.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) In the 7th inning today, after Jerome Williams walked Harris to lead off, I thought both Frank Thomas and Konerko tried too hard to tie the ballgame instead of just getting on and increasing the pressure. Both popped up. AJ also didn't hit well after Dye was plunked the next inning. And then Everett hit into a DP and prevented Frank from having a second chance. Don't forget what got us to 50-24 guys. The worst part of it is that both Thomas and Konerko swang at the first dam pitch. AJ swings at a sinker on 3-1 that would have been a ball. Instead of there being runners on first and second with no outs there is no runners on with 2 outs. And..... Iguci should not have sit. He has more chance doing something against Prior ( even being a righty) then a left handed Willie Harris who has been eating pumkin seeds the last two games. If you want to play Harris play him the first game of the Detroit series not the rubber game of this series.

QUOTE(JohnStamos @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:49 AM) So your saying that Hermanson wouldn't have pitched in a 2 or 3 run save situation if they scored the runs? Get real, if Ozzie is willing to pitch him a one run game he would have definately pitched him in the ninth regardless of the lead. You can blame what turned out to be a bad outing by Hermanson on Ozzie all you want, but it simply isn't Ozzie's fault that his guy didn't get the job done. I agree that Hermanson didn't get the job done BUT Ozzie's bonehead move letting Buehrle bat is terrible. You have a chance at a big inning. Also, the fact that they didn't score changes the complexion of the game and adds pressure. Buehrle strikes out=added pressure on Pods; Pods strikes out adds pressure on Iguci. What the heck is Frank and Carl sitting there for? I'm sick to my stomach.

QUOTE(JohnStamos @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:38 AM) None of this matter if Hermanson doesn't blow the save. I know you don't want your pitcher batting in a critical situation, but he was pitching lights out so you have to deal with it. Also, Pods had been 6 of 7 in getting the runner in with a man on third and less than 2 outs, so second guessing that one is a mute point. Paulie was out at home, his foot was hovering just above the plate when the tag was applied. You can second guess everything about this game but the fact of the matter is that our closer didn't get it done. These things happen and you just have to go out and rebound tommorrow. They wouldn't have to put Hermanson in if they would have scored a dam run in the 8th. YOU HAVE TO PITCH HIT FOR BUEHRLE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE 2 GOOD OPTIONS. TERRIBLE MANAGED GAME.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:36 AM) 2 things. #1 Konerko is slow; and he should have been pinch-run for. But, we don't have a backup 1b. Even if he WAS safe, Willie should have pinch-run and (gulp) Timo should have filled in at 1st in the 9th. #2 Hermanson has lost velocity the last few games. We've all noticed it, why hasn't Ozzie? I was talking about it with my dad while we were watchng the game. Politte should have started the ninth, then Cotts should have finished the game if necessary. Hermanson needed tonight off and Ozzie, with his blind faith, threw him back out there. we are the only dam team in baseball that doesn't have a true backup first basemen. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't deserve to win scoring only 1 run BUT that was an absolutely horrible move to let Buehrle bat. You score 2 they have to score 3 and at the time they had 0. I can't believe he didn't pitch hit for him. What the heck could he have been thinking? I am real concerned about: not having a strong right handed middle relief guy; not having a left hand bat ( other then Harris or Perez) off the bench when Everett isn't in the lineup; That we are starting to be one of "those" teams that needs a closer.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) He missed almost 2 entire seasons due to injury. Last year was his first season of full-season baseball, really. He's only old in years, not in terms of baseball experience. I'm just fine with keeping him in AA at least until the break. There isn't exactly anyone moving up at 1B behind him in the system... I really like Casey as a player and i think he will be a good one someday. Last year was not his first full season though. Not counting rookie ball he has had 4 seasons of playing in 116 games or more. In the other season he played in 63 games.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) I'd rather have him face the Cubs than the Angels. The Angels are a scarier offense, IMO. Besides, the Cubs strike out a lot and BMac is a strike-out pitcher. He was supposed to start today, so he's probably going to be a little out of his rhythm starting on Sunday, but he'll be even more out of that rhythm if he has to fly to Chicago and then Anaheim. I don't want him pitching yet at all. He isn't ready. Throwing him in that madhouse is a gamble. Aren't there any other in house options? I'd rather have Adkins for that one game.
-
Man, why against the Cubs? i don't like the fact that we have to throw someone out there in their first major league start against the Cubs. Don't we have other options? This makes us a big underdog Sunday especially against Prior.

Garcia should have never pitched to Tejada in the 7th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spidale is back on the DL with a bum hand.
-
Pale Hose sign Ex Cub Roosevelt Brown and will place him in the minors.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) In case it was never posted how Spidale is on the Knights....Alvarez was hurt. Spidale has been on the Knights from the start. He was on the 7 day DL. Alvarez is out for the year.

Anyone here Greg Norton is back with the Sox and will be with one of the farm clubs?

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) Bull thanks for the info and sorry to hear you are coming back to Birmingham. Perhaps I'll let you buy me a beer or two sometime this year. I know this isn't where you want to be, but I you have been good for Birmingham, so it's good to have you back. on the Opening Night start. Some of this surprised me........ I had heard Young was making a push to start in Bham, but didn't really think it would happen. I am excited about getting to see him play. I pretty much knew Lopez was headed for AAA, especially when Valdez was lost. One thing that surprised me is that Malone will be heading north. I had been told he would rehab in extended ST until he was ready to start. Heard that as recently as the beginning of ST. Phillips and Villacis both making the AAA rotation did surprise me some also. I had hopes for Bull making the Charlotte bullpen, but when you have five deserving lefties, something has to give. In all honesty, I had kind of forgotten about Dave Sanders. The AA bullpen should be pretty strong. I didn't know the Sox has signed Willie Glen, but I think he will help. He is a smallish guy who has a pretty good arm. He played college ball at Evansville, so I have been somewhat familiar with him. Ace has got be sick of Bham, but its a chance to play ball. Looking at AAA, six outfielders seems pretty odd. You listed 27 players on the AAA roster so someone will have to move somewhere, whether it is in a trade or the DL. As listed, there are 12 pitchers, six infielder, six outfielders and three catchers. Something has to give there. I'm surprised Becker got sent to Charlotte, but then again I was surprised to see that he had re-signed anyway. I hope Spidale gets the chance to play everyday, but I don't see it happening. Bull, any chance Spidale's arm had gotten any better???? Where did Felix Martinez come from? I have heard of Coquillete, but don't know anything about him. That's all, off the top of my head. Thanks again, Bull. PM me if you want to buy me a beer sometime! I saw about 4-5 minor league games a few weeks ago. A few observations..... Heath Phillips really looked good. I saw him pitch twice and he was blowing people away. Spidale looked tremendous in the field and at the plate. He played center and leadoff during the AAA games and looked smooth out there making some nice grabs. He was really powdering the ball all over. His arm motion looks completely different. It looks normal to me. I saw him throw a runner out at second and one at third. Some kid named Tartaglia can run. He played in a AA game and can fly. Dont know much else about him. It seemed like everytime i saw Chris Young hit it was either a homer, flyout to the wall, or K.

Where will Tony Alvarez be placed? This guy has som eimpressive minor league stats. They wouldn't put a guy of this caliber below AAA-would they?
