2011-2012 NBA Season Thread

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 12:39 AM) In a shortened season, I'm not sure I want to see Derrick exhaust himself by driving on almost every isolation. I'd love to see that during the playoffs, but after seeing what happened to Derrick last season, I'd rather have him ease off the accelerator a bit this season. That's a fair point. But the Heat aren't going to start out 8-7 this time around. They're 4-0 and look worlds better than they did early last year. I'd love to see Derrick not have to do as much. But that's simply not realistic. I guess what I'm saying is the Bulls need that #1 seed again if they have any chance of beating Miami in a 7 gamer. -

Didn't catch the last 3 1/2 quarters or so. Going by the boxscore, it looks like the Bulls were pretty impressive. 3-1 so far in games all on the road in less than a week is certainly nothing to be upset about. Oh, and Rose needs to follow LeBron's lead and just abandon the three. LeBron looks more unstoppable than he ever has now that he's not letting defenses off the hook with 3's and long jumpers (he's taken one 3 in 4 games so far). Rose could be similarly unstoppable if he does the same consistently. -

Felix, I know you won't like this, but Kevin Love needs to leave Minnesota. He's too f***ing spectacular to be wasting away there. He's the coldest whiteboy I've seen since Stockton. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) Well according to you the 2001 Ravens wouldn't stand a chance against the Packers. Under 2011 rules? You better believe it. Unless you think all these offensive records (team and individual) being broken the last 5 years or so is just coincidence. -

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) I don't see the Saints or Packers scoring many points against the 49ers D.. Go 49ers!!!! Doubtful. I like the Niner D overall. But their numbers are somewhat tainted by the fact they're in that god-awful division. The Packers and Saints feature two of the most prolific offenses in NFL history. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) After the replay, it should have. At first glance, I wouldn't have. True. But if this had happened with Rose, there would've been 30 different Bulls fans in here talking about how awful the refs are, etc. Just like they do after every Bulls, Bears or Illini game. -

Didn't LeBron literally dunk the ball through the basket and it bounced off of a Bobcats player's head and it wasn't counted? At least be fair, people. -

Poppycock. I've been a huge Phil Humber fan from day one. Somebody hacked into my account earlier this year.

Celtics went to a zone and completely took away all the isolation/lobs Miami was feasting on in the first half. Very entertaining game we have here. -

Good god damn. The Heat looking f***ing incredible. Looks like they've learned a few things from last year. They have the most devastating combination of speed/athleticism in the game, and they're taking full advantage. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) Yeah, let's totally ignore Rose' stat line from the Lakers game like it never happened... lol. That wasn't his intention at all. But if you're going to take one game that Rose is efficient and be like "AHA!!!, see, he's efficient." Then be prepared for a response after last night's suckfest. Rose's efficiency is something even the most homeristic Bulls fan would like to see him improve upon. One game, good or bad, isn't going to tell much of anything. Need at least a good half season to see if he's improved in that area. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) Anyways, athleticism isn't the be all end all of basketball, Miami Heat>>>Mavericks on athleticism, how on earth did the beat Miami? 1986 Boston Celtics, maybe the best team ever, athletically challenged. What? 1986? What's next? Bill Russell could dominate in today's game? Miami lost because they choked away a 15 point lead with 6 minutes left in game 2 and LeBron got scared in the 4th quarter for whatever reason. That still doesn't change the fact that in this era with zone defenses and such that athleticism and versatility is more important than ever. -

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) This is just baiting now, god made the ignore list for a reason. QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) While training to become a turnaround teacher, I learned the ins and outs of a classroom management technique called DO NOT ENGAGE. I usually use it when kids twice my size try to intimidate me or otherwise act out in class. Now I see that it can be used here on SoxTalk as well. Thanks for helping me get my money's worth, J4L. This is all wonderful. Just put me on ignore and I'm a distant memory (well, unless somebody else quotes me, which pretty much negates the ignore feature). The Bulls won. This is good. I can't help it if you guys took me saying the Bulls have no athletes other than Rose meaning they have 10 Bill Wenningtons. In today's NBA, elite athleticism is a must at more than just one position. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) Just stop. Stop what? The Bulls were getting spanked when I made that post. The Lakers missed a bunch of FTs, turned the ball over, got f***ed with a no-travel call on Deng (Nobody will complain about that of course) and came back and won. Good for them. -

This Laker team has to be one of the most unathletic teams of the last 25 years. Fisher, Blake, Murphy, McRoberts, Goldilocks? -

Not much has changed since the Miami series. It's either Rose or broke. Rip looks even more pathetic than I remember. Somebody get Carlos Boozer off the court. Do we really have 4 more years of this clown?
