  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) Not a chance. That is way more than the Yankees would give up for one year of Danks. If that deal was ever offered, I would drive them to NY myself. If the Yanks offered Betances/Noesi and Sanchez they should take that immediately. If the Yankees were willing to include Betances it would be something like Betances, Romine, and a couple mid tier prospects. NY could get Gio for the package that you proposed. This. As I've stated in other threads, I've lost all faith in KW, who's a terrible GM to begin with, getting a + package in a deal revolving around Danks. They're just better options out there for guys under control much longer.
  2. So we're going with 12 teams? I thought this was a 10-teamer. Well somebody seriously needs to join. Because after tomorrow, I won't be available for any draft (unless it's really early) for at least the next week. And I don't want to be in this thing if I can't make the draft. If a 12th person doesn't join just let me know and I'll drop out. That way you can still have an even number of teams. No hard feelings for me.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) Great post. It amazes me how so many want to shred the roster just to tag the team as officially "rebuilding." Shredding the roster will mean more than 10 years of horrible records on the southside. The team will be out of business by then. No good attendance figures at the Cell from this point on unless the team is good. Why do so many people just want young guys who suck on the field? At least with flavum's plan we COULD win. This team supposedly is built on pitching and home runs anyway. And when they start out 16-24 again you'll be talking about how awful, heartless and overpaid they are and threatening to boycott the gamethreads. You know, like you did all last year.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Then they shouldn't make a trade for the sake of making a trade. Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Humber, Sale is a major league rotation that can win if everything goes right. If they have a rotation with Axelrod and Stewart, they're not winning. They worry about attendance so why not at least sell a little hope with a pretty good rotation and see where they are in June/July. They simply waited too long, at least with Danks. Teams aren't giving up these souped up packages for non-elite pitching one year away from FA. I never thought Latos was even available. It just baffles me how so many teams have been able to lock up their elite to all-star caliber young pitchers and the Sox/Danks haven't been able to come to any long-term agreement. I have a feeling we're about to get bent over.
  5. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) I'm getting antsy for a trade. Where are the sources with rumors to feed us? It's been too quiet. I was at first. But after this Latos trade, man, I'm expecting severely disappointing returns for Danks and/or Floyd.
  6. Sweet cheeks of Buddha that's a motherf***in' haul. But I like this more for the Reds. Votto and Mesoraco made Yonder Alonso irrelevant and Grandal expendable. Latos is the real deal. They needed an ace or close to an ace and they got one.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 05:04 PM) You are classifying Jason Kidd at 38 years old as a superstar and we're a joke? Wrong again. I said you don't win with a superstar and "blah." Blah being a bunch of roleplayers for the most part. Kyle brought up Dallas. I countered with Kidd. He's much, much more than a roleplayer. If you don't agree, well, I don't care.
  8. lol. I can totally see why Felix thinks this section of the board is a joke.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) He hasnt been a superstar for about 4 years now, he is 38 years old for chrissakes. GMAFB, Barrea was taking a ton of his minutes in the playoffs and finals too. Dirk carried them to that ring, dont you try and spin that. You just keep changing your argument, but nobody is surprised, thats what you do. Jason Kidd runs the offense, defends elite 1's AND 2's, rebounds better than just about any PG and has developed a nasty 3-point shot. Even if he's not a superstar, he's a lot more than a roleplayer.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Except last year. In Dallas. Of course. Please tell me you don't classify Jason Kidd as a roleplayer? He's the second best PG of the last 25 years.
  11. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) LMAO @ proclaiming yourself the voice of reason. Noone is calling him the missing piece of the championship puzzle. Most everyone is pretty underwhelmed. At best, people are just trying to be good fans and find the positives. Heck, most articles and so called experts are just as unimpressed and go as far as to say it's a bad fit. Personally, this feels like a Bulls management move. He wasn't even in my top 5 of possible moves/signings. I hope he can help Rose some in the short term, but the search must continue in the next year or 2 for a real number 2 guy if a championship is in the Bulls future, especially when considering the new bcs esque NBA trend... Well, I'm not going to try and dig for positives just because he's here. That's what homers do. If the White Sox sign Yuniesky Betancourt, I'm not going to kill myself to try to make a positive out of it. That would just be awful. And I feel like a team that overachieved and got as close as they did, for Hamilton to be your lone "upgrade," yeah, I'm not feeling that. We saw what happened to LeBron in Cleveland. We see what's happening to Dwight in Orlando. One superstar and blah does not win you titles.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) So those reporters are in the minority thinking that Hamilton has frustrated Wade in the past? Can you point me to the great sources on other boards that will refute that point please? Thanks in advance for responding to my lame s***. No, I don't have any precise numbers in front of me. But I can say with confidence Richard Hamilton cannot guard D-Wade. At all.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Whose case am I supporting? I saw several NBA reporters say he frustrates Wade, on the other side of the argument is a guy who is perpetually wrong about all things Bulls on a message board. It would seem you, the outlier, would need to support YOUR case. If you knew what you were talking about, you wouldn't even come with the lame s*** like that. I guess you read something in the paper that suggested Hamilton bothers Wade and now you're running with it. I'm the outlier? No. I'm the non-homer in a sea of homers on THIS board. I don't know how many message boards you frequent besides this one. But trust me. I'm not in the minority when it comes to my views on Richard Hamilton.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) Mike Wallace, KC Johnson and Sam Smith are the ones I remember off of the top of my head. Just to be clear you are saying your opinion of his defensive abilities on Wade are just that much greater than several NBA reporters? And this is when you know you really have nothing to support your case. Well, other than blind homerism. "So you you're saying you know more than NBA reporters?" C'mon. You're better than that I recognize that outside of the miracle that was winning the lottery 4 years ago, this franchise has done next to nothing to put together a legitimate contender. But if you're fine with being the '08-'10 Cavs for the next few years, have at it.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) There is a difference between creating your own shot and creating your shot while shooting horrendously. Mostly explosive 1 out of every 5 games. And a turnover machine and a ball hog who would probably think he should bring th eball up. And he was the 6th man of the year just two years ago. I'm not saying I wanted Crawford. But he'd clearly be a better option than Hamilton.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Thats funny because NBA reporters all day have been talking about how Rip frustrates Wade more than almost any other 2 in the league. Well there you have it. The Bulls have found the last piece. The Wade stopper. And who said that by the way? Chris Broussard? lol.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) hahahahahahahaha lol. Why are you laughing? You even admitted that you didn't want him, but now that he's here, you'll try to make yourself like it. There's a reason guys Vince Carter keep bouncing from team to team. He was good a LONG time ago. He's not anymore. Same thing with Hamilton.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) we know, we know, the bulls will regress and everyone else will get better I mean, how you gonna mock Crawford's D (which I admit is awful) and not recognize that Hamilton's is just as bad? There's no Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Prince, Billups and 2004 rules aiding him.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Hamilton's offense >>> Crawford's defense Yeah, well, I'm not feeling too good about Hamilton guarding Wade in a playoff series. Even for a little while.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) Same price as Hamilton... Can't say that I'm pissed off or anything because Hamilton's a better all-around player, but I'd take Crawford over Korver any day. He is? They're both one-dimensional. At least Crawford can create his own shot and is a more explosive scorer.
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) The hatred toward Cowley on here, it's as if he said something disparaging about Soxtalk. He did
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:56 AM) Guys, he's parodying Lakers fans. Whew. I thought Balta might've been drinking.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) The Clippers could pull it off by dealing Chris Paul's contract for him. Or maybe by adding Maurice Williams, Blake Griffin, and some filler. Wait, what? Or is this sarcasm? Because I'm totally lost here.
  24. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:32 AM) Stephen A. thinks Kobe will demand a trade by the end of the season. If that happens, with no superstar and a couple with the Clips, I wonder.... lol. Good luck with that. Kobe's got nearly $60 million owed to him for the 2013-2014 seasons.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) I wouldn't be so quick to say that. Since the trade, the Clippers have already sold out their season ticket allotment and are starting a waiting list. They will never be the Lakers, but they can easily become popular enough that players would want to stay. They play in the same arena & LA fans are kings of the frontrunners. In 27 seasons in LA, the Clippers have 4 playoff apps and one series victory. They have never given themselves a chance to become popular. I can't imagine elite free agents wanting to flock to the Lakers with a 35-year old Kobe as the centerpiece. Their window is closing rather rapidly. The Thunder, Grizzlies and Clippers will be running things in that conference very soon (if not this year).
