QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Because I was talking about what it took to put the original big 3 together. Now all it takes is some whining, and a team will take .20 on the dollar to trade them. They clearly could get more than Bynum for Howard. There are owners that would trade more than that for howard for 1 year, I guarantee it. But we have a world of NBA writers writing this s***: "But the reason they're able to deal for Kobe, for Odom, for Gasol, for Chris Paul and possibly Dwight Howard is because they have the pieces in place. Not because they make more money than anyone else (though this did help them hang onto Odom two offseasons ago), but because they have the parts." http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont...urn=nba-wp11564 This is atrocious. Well KG didn't have the same power that Howard, a soon to be FA, has. That's all I was saying. The Wolves didn't have to settle for crap in fear they could lose him for nothing in a year.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Don't say "again" like you are refuting anything. Did I say it's wrong and bad because it's untrue, or did I say it's wrong because it's f***ed up that an awful package could net the best center in the league. You don't need to be a contrarian about things people aren't even arguing about. Then why did you bring up KG? That was a dumb comparison. KG wasn't a year away from FA when the Wolves were contemplating possible trades.

QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) I don't see them winning anything, maybe the division.. but no title. They did this with Hunter several years ago.. They forgot how they got the win the WS. It wasn't buying players. I'd say buying players played a pivotal role in the Yankees '09 title. Don't get me wrong. I'm not handing the Angels anything. But that rotation, 1-4, is as good as it gets in the AL. Unless Pujols goes Adam Dunn after a league switch, they're going to be pretty good.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) Marty just doesn't like Viciedo. Trading Santos, a closer, is one thing. Trading Viciedo for a team in rebuild-mode would be pure insanity.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) I speak for probably a faction when I say it doesn't piss me off that howard may go to the lakers, it pisses me off that howard may go to the lakers for andrew bynum. That's not a real trade. At least with the bulls we are sending legitimate pieces. At least when the celts traded for garnett they could hang their hat on al jefferson. This is just collusion. Again, the player controls everything. If Howard says I'm not signing an extension with the Bulls, what are they to do? Howard seems like a front-runner to me, anyway. Much easier to team with Kobe, Paul, etc.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) That's what I was thinking when I was reading the reactions. If the Bulls traded for Dwight, no one here but Felix would be complaining. Hey, I admitted last year the only reason I 'hated' LeBron was because he didn't pick the Bulls. But with that aside, this is getting stupid. Superstars are just bolting or getting traded for horses*** like it's nothing. Look at Melo last year. The Nets offer was much better than the Knicks. But Melo wanted the Knicks, he's a Knick. What LeBron did to Cleveland changed the game. A GM is not going to risk losing a superstar for nothing. If Bynum and crap is all Otis Smith can get back for Howard, so be it.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) you are missing that when teams like LA and NY want a player, and that player wants to be in that uniform, wheels get greased. Its just the way it is. Just look at the bulls*** trade that put Pau in LA Exactly. Players rule this league and Dwight has all the power. If he wants to go to LA to form ANOTHER f***ing big 3, he will.

Mark Buehrle Appreciaton Thread

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) I wonder if the Marlins fans can spell his name yet? Took me about 4 years. And I still misspell it when I'm intoxicated. -
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Nope. They made a lot of money off the Heat drama and the new rules encourage player movement. I hope I'm just freaking out right now. But LA gutting their front-court to this degree is wayyyyyyyy too suspect.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 06:23 PM) Is STL moving Berkman to 1B or would they be interested in Paulie? Berkman to 1B with Allen Craig to RF.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 06:18 PM) Where did SAS say that/ I'm just going off of what Lakers fans are saying at Lakersground.net. Supposedly, Chris Broussard also believes Howard to the Lakers is close to a lock.
-
This is f***ing bulls***. Wasn't the owners locking out the players supposed to prevent this crap? Now we're going to have Lakers/Heat finals for the 3 years. I said when I was young I'd cut my lips off before I became a hockey fan. Hmmmmmmmmm...
-
SAS seems to believe Howard to the Lakers is imminent.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:46 PM) How the hell will they get Dwight? They have nothing to trade except Bynum. The only real chance they have at Howard is signing him next off-season. If not Howard, then Okafor or something has to be coming back from the Hornets. I doubt Derrick Caracter will be their new starting 4.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) Kobe is an excellent shooter. I'd say he's a much better long range shooter than Michael ever was. I agree. Kobe won't have to handle the ball anywhere near as much with Paul running the show as well.
-
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) A package of what? This is going to be a pathetic haul for Howard, if true. No way in hell they trade Odom/Gasol and rely on a full season's health from Andrew Peavy. Something is going down with Howard. I can feel it.
-
@christomasson: One agent I spoke to really does believe that a package involving Andrew Bynum for Dwight Howard is coming. No way the Lakers go with just Bynum and no PF. Something else is going to happen.
-
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) They'll have to pull rabbits from multiple hats. All bets are off after what the Heat concocted last summer.
-
Paul adds another 3 years of elite play to Kobe's career. Unlike Wade/LeBron, Kobe's actually good at moving without the ball and is a much better shooter than both.
-
Paul to the Lakers? Well there's your west champ. Howard is going to LA. We all know it. Hooray for the impact the new CBA has had on competitive balance.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) I get the feeling familiarity breeds contempt unless its an absolute stud like Rose. There really is no reason why Gibson cant improve massively and Boozer cant get back to his old self. What kinda massive leap is Taj Gibson, a 26-year old roleplayer, supposed to take? Boozer's days of 20/10 are more than likely over. He's older and as injury-prone as ever. The condensed season coming up all but guarantees he'll miss 15-20 games.
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) I'm not entirely convinced the Bulls need to bring in new players to improve. If Rose keeps improving, Gibson's game takes a leap and Boozer goes back to being a 20/10 guy we have upgraded more than any team this offseason. None of those things are outside the realm of possiblity. Rose? Yes. Gibson and Boozer? No and no.

KW and SOX fans are to blame for this mess..
Jordan4life_2007 replied to SOXOBAMA's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Rios was known as a dog. How many teams acquire pitchers when they are on the DL at the time? Dunn ... I blame KW cause it didn't work out. Yes he deserves the blame, just like Pritchard deserved the blame for drafting Oden when ALL of basketball said to take Oden. That signing of the bum Dunn cost Sox fans Mark Buehrle. FIRE KENNY! You lost me when you brought Greg Oden into this. What the hell? -
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) We weren't in the series, we lost 4-1. Haslem completely stabilized their big problem. That and their overall length and athleticism overwhelmed the Bulls. Battier just adds to that, even at his age. He's still a great defender and knocks down the 3 at a 39% career clip. Like Zoom said, Spoelstra, or however you spell it, will have to get creative at times. But this definitely strengthens them.
