QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 5, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) You gotta love the Wall/Beal combo, but I'm not seeing a juggernaut in the making. Porter's not the kind of guy I would call a freak athlete. He has great length, but he's not particularly quick, doesn't take guys off the dribble much and isn't an explosive leaper (which is why he only had a 27 inch no-step vert at the combine). He kind of reminded me of Luol Deng at Georgetown. That's not the worst thing in the world for a guy on a rookie contract though. They're probably going to need him to produce too. Gortat and Ariza are both free agents this year and were a big part of them being decent this year. If they both walk, the Wiz would have about $19 million in space, but would need 7 more players. I would guess that it's quite a bit more likely that they overpay one or both of those guys (or someone else) than they add a stud. Whoa, I didn't say juggernaut. I just don't think this is one of those fluke playoff runs, that's all. They're set in the back-court. Porter has a 27-inch vert? I don't believe that for s***. And yes, their FO is going to have to be smart. That's the biggest difference between the two conferences. Teams are just run much better in the west. Wait, a no-step vert? What was his overall vert? -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 5, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) How hilarious would that be if the wizards squeak through the east There's a difference between issues and actually winning the series. Once Indy collapsed, that was the end of the suspense (for the east). -

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 5, 2014 -> 08:33 PM) 0pts 0 rebounds 5 fouls Wizards going to the conference finals The guy makes me look like a fool last year in the playoffs and this is what he's become? I'm done. And the Wizards have a chance to be really good. Their backcourt is just gross and should get better. Otto Porter, the 3rd pick last year, was hurt so you can't really judge him yet (though he's an athletic freak). A big FA signing and this team is right there. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 4, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) Second. I still think if Rose's ACL hadn't torn in 2012, those Bulls take the Heat out. Everything had started clicking. I'd like their chances better with Lopez, but this could very well be it for KG/Pierce on this stage. I would imagine they're going to go ballz out and, s***, it's Miami. -

Second round is set. We've got two conference finals goin' on in the west. I'll take Clippers, Spurs in those two. In the east, the Nets might just be the only east team since the big 3 came together with the combination of talent/skill to legitimately take the Heat down. And unless Roy Hibbert wakes the f*** up from his 2 month coma, I think the Wizards are gonna clown the Pacers. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 4, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) Yes. Should have given it up though. That scientific study was right. And when LeBron gives it up in those situations, he gets killed for not taking the last shot. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ May 4, 2014 -> 01:25 PM) If Brooklyn wins there will be four really good matchups. No sure things anywhere, although the heat will still be huge favorites. I agree. Well, that's assuming SA wins. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 3, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) The 2006 Heat wasn't a surprise. They had lost in 7 to the Pistons in the ECF the previous year and had Shaq and Wade. The other two I agree with. The rest of that roster was pretty meh. Posey was a good roleplayer. Antoine Walker? Jason Williams? Mourning/Payton when they were barely hanging on? I remember thinking Pistons/Spurs rematch all the way that year. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 3, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) I realize parity in the NBA has been fiction for a long time. I was just kinda making fun of your whole "the NBA today is da greatest eva" comment. Yeah it's a cool story of all these first round 7 game series but we all know only two or three teams really have a real shot at the title. When's the last time a surprise team no one expected to win won it all? That happens in the NFL, MLB and NHL quite frequently, never in the NBA. Pistons in '04? Heat in '06? Mavs in '11? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) Well, the Bulls did beat 5 different teams in the finals, then throw in the Rockets and Knicks and you're up to 8, then the Spurs at the end and you're @ 9...and the Pacers, that makes 10 teams. You're kidding, right? In what individual year/s in the 90's did the league have 5, let alone 10, teams with a legitimate shot at a title? The 80's was even worse. If you don't like today's ball, fine. But don't say parity is a reason. In that case, the nba has sucked since the 70's. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 3, 2014 -> 06:23 PM) You act like great basketball never existed before 2011 or something... And yet only either Miami, SA or OKC will win the title. No one else has a legit shot. The NBA produce easily the most predictable playoffs winners of the four major sports. But yeah, the NBA is da bestest... Yeah, because there were like 10 teams a year who had a legit shot at title in the 90's. -

I want to call Lillard a superstar, but I'm scared to after Paul George made me look like a fool. This has been the best first round in nba history. If you don't think so, you're just too afraid to let go of your childhood. -

Mavs barely hold off the Spurs. These west playoffs have been too much. And this is round 1. We've got 5 (6 if Houston wins) game 7's comin' up in the next 2 days. BUT TODAY'S NBA IS SO f***ING HORRIBLE, signed Jerry West, Charles Barkley, or any other old fart who wants to be young again. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 1, 2014 -> 08:32 PM) I'm saying the reason he got so much crap wasn't because he had hype or gave himself a nickname. It's because he was really f***ing good and took quite a while to get a title. Obviously the Decision took it to another level for those first two Miami years. And that's all on Cleveland's front office for being epically incompetent. LeBron was already top 2 player at worse as far back as 2006. The best you can put around him was Larry Hughes, Mo Williams and 38-year old Shaq? Give LeBron Westrbrook in Cleveland and he probably win titles.
