QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 07:23 PM) Um, that kind of indicates the opposite. If they thought it wasn't a big deal, they wouldn't talk about the season in terms of "if Rose is healthy". They would just assume he is healthy and ready to go. Doesn't make any sense the other way. That is also why Bulls fans wanted a Carmelo or Love. Basically you are making a gross exaggeration to stereotype Bulls fans as complete idiots, when in this case it simply isn't true. He could play 82 games and still not get to the level he needs to to get this team over the 2nd round hump. Yes, I don't think a lot of Bulls fans get that. Does Thibs have to monitor his minutes (i know. lol@thibs and minutes)? What about back2backs? Is that an issue? What about when he's feeling sore? Do you have to sit him to be safe? This is going to be an issue all f***ing year. Rose is 26 but he may as well be 41. Make no mistake about it. One more injury and that's a wrap. -

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) I'm pretty sure that's what everyone means when they say "if Rose is healthy". Takes too long to "and is dominate" He'll be rusty but he's got 5 months to knock ff said rust. Even a rusty Rose for a few months will get the Bulls in the playoffs. It's when they get there when he has to be back to the All Star level for the Bulls to have a chance at a title. It's just that I don't think Bulls fans realize or are simply naive to how daunting a task it will be for Rose to get back to his past level in one year. The guy has missed roughly 3 years. It'd be an accomplishment if he were to even play at Kyle Lowry's 2014 level, let alone 2011 mvp, this upcoming season. This is why whiffin' on Melo sucks so much ass. With Melo, Rose doesn't have to dominate. -

So sick of "if Rose is healthy" this team is whatever. Rose has to be more than just healthy. He has to be healthy and dominate. We all saw how bad he looked at the start of last year. Now add another year of rehab/rust/etc to that. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:53 PM) Gasol is better offensively than Boozer and he definitely can't be worse defensively. Dunleavy is more or less average defensively (good length). Just because they're white doesn't mean they can't fit into the system. I didn't say they couldn't. I just think it'll be a test for thibs. You need a top 10 offensive/defensive ranking to win a title in this league. Does no good to improve offensively if your d falls off. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) Carlos Boozer? You want the offense to improve without the defense takin' a hit. We got six white dudes. None of which are known for their defensive prowess. -

Thibs defensive system will definitely be put to the test. I see a lot of defensive liabilities up and down the roster. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) Hypothetically, you can play Mirotic at the 3. Not sure if he has the lateral quickness to guard smaller wings though. But his length would be great at the position. Gallinari is the same height and he's always played SF. No, you can't. Not sure what video you saw. Mirotic doesn't have close to the quickness athleticism to match-up with nba wings. -

I can't believe my eyes right now. Let me get this straight. This is supposedly a great team (the best since Michael) even though Rose has played 10 games in the last three years, have a guy (they still haven't signed) in Mirotic that may or may not be the next Toni Kukoc, an Adam Morrison clone, and a 34-year old Gasol? Only in Chicago is this acceptable. We needed a SCORER. Why? Because WE CAN'T SCORE. 2+2=4. They failed again. #tryhard -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:23 PM) When rose gets hurt you will be correct. Until then it's just speculation. Lebron made the finals one time in his career without wade and bosh. The east is terrible. If you get to the finals anything can happen. Put Irving on the Cavs from '08-'10 and they win at least one ring. LeBron by himself is worth about 35 wins. LeBron/Irving is 50 easy. And Cleveland is not close to being done. The Bulls had a chance to finally leap to the top of the conference and they blew it once again. -

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) Taj is a better overall player than Gasol. Sure Gasol has more a offensive game because he has a much better shot, but I see no reason why Taj won't score 17 points a game because of decent shooting combined with dunks and offensive rebounds. And there is no doubt that Taj is an elite defender. I just want to see Taj get a shot to start and play 30-plus minutes per game because I think he can be more a really good starter. Gasol is also a MUCH better passer. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 09:59 AM) Gasol is a terrible signing on his own but yeah got to wait for the corresponding move of course. Money should be interesting. He apparently turned down 10 mil per with the Lakers if you believe CBS. I bet this dude is gonna so hated here. Doubt that. He's still one of the more versatile/skilled big men in the game today. His incredible length should go a long way for him in a Thibs defensive system. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) I don't think love would say that because I'm sure there are more teams he'd extend with. Why not? He's been in the league 6 years and seen as many playoffs games as me. LeBron/Irving/Love/Wiggins is a potential dynasty. What team out there can offer that type of winning and that type of winning right away? -

So I see the Cavs now have Mike Miller, who had his best shooting season in years and was actually healthy in '14, all but locked up. And now word is the Cavs aren't trading Wiggins and are offering Waiters/Bennent/draft picks for Love. That doesn't sound like nearly enough but if Love says the only team he'll extend with is Cleveland, aren't the wolves pretty f***ed? -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) Not all teams run these great defensive schemes well. Coaching matters quite a bit and we don't know how the new cavs coach is going to be. You have to remember that those celtics teams not only had doc rivers at the helm, but also had Thibs coaching defense. The cavs would easily be the favorite in the east. Easily. The east is a joke. I don't see them beating the spurs, thunder, or rockets in a finals though. These days all you need is a legit anchor/rim protector (Garnett, Chandler, Noah, Duncan) and a sound defensive system and you can be an elite defense. I forgot that Mike Brown got fired again. So yeah, coach will be key. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) I couldn't care less about Anthony at this point, he was always stayng in NY and it was always about dat money. I'm much more interested in where James ends up. Things are looking like he's going back to Cleveland which gives us a year or two max window in the East to get to the Finals. I honestly believe LeBron in the Cavs and even with Love, they aren't making the Finals right away, it takes some time to mesh and they have alot of youngsters who've never even gotten to the playoffs. I can't believe some of you guys think they're instant contenders, even with Love. Don't get me wrong, they'll be good but their youth, they'll need to mature. I think in 2 or more likely 3 years, they should be killing the East. lol@all of this. LeBron/Love+Irving would be like Garnett/Allen+Pierce in '08. They'd be devastating offensively. Defensively there would be some question marks (have to see what the roster would like around them). But defensive schemes have become so good that you can cover up multiple weaknesses in that area. No east team outside of maybe Toronto would have a legit chance of beating them. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) Nobody should be rooting for Kyrie/Lebron/Love that wants bulls to win a championship in next 4 years. Yup, that would be a wrap for at least the east for the next 4 years. -
