Read somewhere that Gasol is the oldest player ever to record at least 45 points and 15 rebounds in the same game. I'm as pessimistic when it comes to the Bulls as anyone alive. But the Gasol signing is easily the best non-LeBron back to Cleveland move of last off-season. NOBODY thought/knew he had this much left at age 34.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 25, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) Smith has been bad all around this year So was Rudy Gay this time last year. With Terrance Jones out indefinitely, Smith will be able to play his best-suited (pf) position while being, what, the #4 option on offense? Houston has nothing to lose here.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 24, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) Big blow to the Cavs, specifically their defense. Also, Smith signs with Rockets. Howard-Ariza-Smith should be devastating defensively. The west continues to get more and more ridiculous.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 08:35 AM) He and a few friends rented a house in Houston and they would would work out three times a day. No internet or TV in the house. Just eat, sleep, workout. Also only thing stopping Niko from ROY is Thibs. That and this pathetic (for now) hyped up 2014 class that underwhelmed in college and is doing even more so in the nba. There have been some injuries. But even with that, this class hasn't impressed at all. 2015 is looking pretty good, though.

This team (on paper anyway) is better than the 2011 champion Mavs. The west just got more ridiculous.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 01:08 AM) He's lost a month to injury, but Russell Westbrook might be the best player in NBA this season. Have they lost since he and KD have been back? Has there ever been a year in NBA history in which you could make a championship case without looking like a fool for the top 8 in one conference? I see the Pelicans are a 1/2 game ahead of OKC for 8th. That won't last much longer.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 07:27 PM) I hate to be the Kobe circlejerk party pooper guy but we need to point out that along with passing up MJ, he keeps adding to the most career missed FGs in NBA history record, which by the looks of it, will be his for a while. Let's be honest, Kobe has done his fair share of chucking, sometimes at the expense of his team. God I hope MJ is paying some of your bills. Giving props to a top-10 player of all-time for a remarkable accomplishment=circle jerk? Kobe's efficiency (not this season) has always been well above average.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 11:13 PM) Took him what, 3 more years? I'm kinda more impressed that the mailman is number 2 and like 4000 points ahead He would've passed him last year had he not missed 76 games. And let's not act like Kobe wasn't drafted at 17 and had to wait his turn. Anyway, this isn't MJ vs Kobe. This is about a guy who came into the league in 1996. Think about what you were doing and what was going on in the world in 1996. I hadn't even wacked off for the first time yet. That came two years later. BH 90210 was in season 6. Did playstation even exist? Now we're on playstation 8. And here we are now going on 2015 and Kobe comes back from not 1, but 2, major knee surgeries in his f***ing 30's to make it back to the court to accomplishment this feat. That's GOAT longevity and dedication to your craft. #bean #mamba

Kobe officially passes MJ for third on the all-time scoring list. Amazing accomplishment by an amazing player.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 02:03 PM) Make some room J4L I'm jumping on "the Warriors are the best team in basketball" bandwagon. They're the complete package. 5th and 1st in offensive/defensive efficiency. They've got excess athleticism, length, depth and oh boy can they shoot.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) Almost unbelievable how well this team was built after being shot down by Melo over the summer. This team is better for NOT landing Melo. Not enough credit is given to the Bulls FO in my opinion. A healthy Bulls team is easily the best East team and a legit title contender. This is year 5 of the Thibs era and I/we still have never seen a "healthy" Bulls team in the regular season or otherwise. I do agree that Gasol, who hasn't played this well since 2010, and the amazing rise of Jimmy Butler has made me just about forget the Bulls failed for the 18th time to land that superstar. But Rose is just too unreliable, not to mention a complete f***in' idiot, to call this team "easily" the best team in the east.

Anybody notice how fricking deadly the Dallas Mavericks have been offensively? Their o-rating (points per 100 poss) is 117.6. That'd be easily the best in nba history over the course of the season. Dirk is just, my goodness. We'll see an MJ clone before you see a legit 7ft dude do what Dirk does again.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) That Lakers team is so bad, and I hope some will now realize why I laughed at Byron Scott's retreat hiring again. They have the worst defense in the history of basketball. Not NBA. But basketball ever. Kobe has patterned every single aspect of his life after MJ. It's kind of fitting he's now making a fool of himself the way MJ did with the Wizards. So sad.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 15, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) So now you're a Cavs fan? Why don't you act like a Bulls fan sometime and get excited over a good Bulls team instead of jumping bandwagons and following your mancrush around and getting all excited like a little schoolgirl over Bronzy? It's like you actually want LeBron to beat the Bulls. Even if I'm proven wrong though, still isn't as bad as your Knicks championship prediction, Paul George > Pippen (rofl) and DeAndre Jordan is the next dominant big, among other laughers (including LeBron > MJ) lmao I was mocking you for your absurd post after they fell to 1-3. And I will get excited about the Bulls when Rose goes more than 45 seconds without injuring something.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) That's just moronic. No one player is worth that in Major League Baseball. I wouldn't sign '01-'04 Bonds to that contract. Baseball is so dumb.

Oh my goodness jesus H christ. So in a little over an hour, we've got Davis surpassing peak KG, Hakeem, Duncan and being more valuable going forward than a top 5 player of all-time, injury proof, physical marvel and the greatest offensive wing talent of all-time? #soxtalk

QUOTE (Boogua @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Sure, if his max is KG, then yes. I just think his max is higher than that. He's a MUCH better shot blocker, less assists (but less turnovers), he's going to shoot better from the field, and he has shown that he has more potential as a scorer than KG. Last year's season stats for Anthony Davis (age 20) were on par with KGs stats when he was 22 (this was the first year they're comparable) on a per game basis. The advanced stats has Davis in a landslide. There's no reason to think he can't be better than KG. Higher than KG and you're crossing over into peak Hakeem territory. I don't think he's that good.

2014-2015 NBA thread
Assuming AD maxes out he'll be right in line with the best of KG. More shotblocking, less passing. Would you take peak KG over LeBron or Durant? The answer for me is hell f***ing no.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 01:37 PM) Anthony Davis is just showing off now. A lot of young talent is blowing up right now. Davis, Curry, Thompson, Favors, Cousins. But Davis, yes, LeBron is LeBron. With Durant hurt, he's definitely 1A as far as best in the game.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 01:23 PM) We can't really count on Andrew Bogut to stay healthy, and David Lee is a net negative with his defense. I like the Warriors, but they are not the best team in the NBA. That's obviously key. Lee's defense sucks. But they're so good everywhere else defensively (Thompson has improved mightily) that he doesn't hurt them. And I did say at the moment.
