2014-2015 NBA thread

QUOTE (Boogua @ May 13, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) When one of the best rim protectors in the NBA is some dude named Timofey and the best wing defender in the NBA is a 33 year old 6'4 guy I tend to think the whole "athletes are so much better today" thing is overblown a tad. I also think Jordan would do just fine getting the same ISO post-ups Lebron was last night. It's not overblown at all. It's a hard fact. Athleticism, lateral quickess and length is where the nba is and where it will continue to go. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 13, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) I don't even mind LeBron getting the calls...it just drives me crazy that even though he gets "the calls," he cries about e-v-e-r-y l-i-t-t-l-e f-u-c-k-i-n-g c-a-l-l he doesn't get. Local radio host here in Vegas was just ranting about how LeBron ultimately will go down as the best player of all time. Half of his rant was him picking these random stat-lines from playoff games and mentioning that LeBron has done it while Michael has not. I was thinking exactly what you mentioned above in regards to the defense that used to be allowed, especially come playoff time. It's so incredibly different now I'm not even sure you can compare stat-lines between the two eras. It goes both ways. Yes, the game was more physical and you could get away with things that you'd get fined and or suspended for today. On the other side, we are currently at the pinnacle of athleticism up and down the nba. Jordan wasn't going up against dudes like Butler, Kawhi and Paul George on a regular basis. Not that he couldn't torch them more times than not. But it wouldn't be as consistently effortless as when he was destroying the likes of Starks, Dumars and Hornacek. Also, team defensive schemes (not to mention advanced scouting/analytics) absolutely dwarf anything from the 80's and 90's. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 12, 2015 -> 05:54 PM) Oh, obviously both situations are the same and should be treated as such. My bad. Pau is a p**** I'm with kyyle. Pau is a proven, multiple champion and HOF. If he could be out there he would be. Now off to my cave. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 11, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Lebron also got away with pushing Butler, but they would never call that. MJ used to get the same treatment. -

I've stayed out of this thread since game 1 because jason said I'm a jinx. I think he's right. I just wanted to say this has been a f***ing awesome series. I'll be back when it's over. -

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 5, 2015 -> 06:18 PM) SportsCenter @SportsCenter 4m4 minutes ago THIS JUST IN: John Wall is ruled out for Game 2 tonight vs Hawks with wrist injury. Hard to enjoy this postseason when star players are goin' down every 35 seconds. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ May 4, 2015 -> 08:41 PM) Let's not get too crazy. Shumpert just played a really good game tonight. If Lebron could make a jumpshot the Cavs would have had a really good shot at winning the game. And he won't score 22 in a game again for the rest of the series. Shumpert as a starting 2 is a joke. -

Get greedy. They can end this thing before they get back to Chicago. Mike Miller? lol. Iman Shumpert? lol. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 3, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) There are a lot of really good teams out there and GS is head and shoulders above them all. I don't see them losing. Conley hurt. Paul hurt. Love hurt. You never know what Rose you're gonna get. I had three teams that could take down GS: Thunder, Spurs and Cavs. We know what happened to the Thunder. Spurs are out. Cavs won't have Love. Something crazy would have to happen for GS not to win this thing. -

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) Is it too early to crown Golden State? Nope. They look more unstoppable than the Spurs did last year. -
QUOTE (Lillian @ May 3, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) Why not trade Samardzija? He could net quite a haul, and this team is not going anywhere, even with him. If they really want to spend the money on a long term deal for him, they can always sign him in the off season. I'd like to see if some team would give up a good young, potential left handed power hitter. But then, you probably all guessed that.

So this will be the first year since 1998 that the finals will not feature at least one of the Lakers, Spurs or Heat. That's pretty f***ing insane. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:29 AM) My point is the Twins finish ahead of us and are .500. If the Sox were .500 after years of this s***, people would come. I will tell you this. As smart as Hahn is, my being a GM would have the Sox in much better shape cause I'd have acquired Billy Butler and Torii Hunter who are better than LaRoche/Melky.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 2, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) I'm all for ditching conferences and going best 16 teams with division winners getting top seeds. I agree. No way two teams this good should be playing each other in round 1. -

Sucks that one of these two teams is going down in round 1. NBA needs to really fix this seeding system. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Pau reminds me of Mike Davis, former Illini. You watch the game and see him blowing opportunities, failing to use his physical tools, etc. but at the end of the game he has an impressive stat line so you don't know how to evaluate him dude's got 25-10-4 and you're riding him while rose is doing his best wite impersonation and butler is 5/20. -
