QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) Not too long ago the Spurs were the 7th seed in the West, and now with Kawaii healthy they have been unbeatable. The Southwest division is also looking insane, the 2nd seed Spurs only lead the 6th seed Grizzlies by 1 game. And there's also the possibility that all 5 teams in that division make the playoffs. Not sure when the last time that has happened. They're outscoring their opponents by 16.45 ppg during their winning streak I haven't seen a team flip a switch like this since the '01 Lakers. If the Spurs get through this conference and win another title the following statements will be true: Duncan best big man ever Pop best coach ever Spurs greatest dynasty ever -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Reminder that the splash brothers are still good. So bummed that OKC could never get healthy. Could've been the greatest first-round match-up in nba history. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) SG is horrible right now. Lou Williams is 5th in PER at the position by over 2 points. Plus one of the guys ahead of him is Wade, who's on his last legs and misses 15 to 20 games every year. Most of the position is guys that aren't asked to do anything but shoot 3's and defend. SF has quite a bit of talent, but 3 of the top-5 missed most of the season and guys like Gay, Hayward and Harris are better for fantasy hoops than real life. The PG's right now are obviously fantastic and the bigs are starting to come back a bit. Harden, Butler, Thompson with two almost surefire superstars in Wiggins/Oladipo in waiting. That's still better than anything from the 90's -

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) Not too long ago I seriously thought Lebron would win 6 or 7 MVP's. As it stands now, he could very well only end up with 4. Curry, Harden, Durant, Westbrook, and Davis would really make it hard for Lebron to win another one. And that's not a knock on LeBron. That's 21st century top-tier talent at its finest. Think about the 90's. It was MJ and insert whatever big (the wing talent sucked) that happened to have a career year that particular season. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) Steph is out of control. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 07:28 AM) Steph Curry is decent at playing the game of basketball. Just saw the highlights. My goodness. Curry's '15 dwarfs Roses '11. If he doesn't win MVP, I'm done with hoops. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) There have been some really dumb comments in this thread... ...and shut the f*** up about Hawk already, we get it, and all of you talking s*** have already done so so many times its f***ing nauseating now.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 07:03 PM) Well, for anyone that has been watching, Niko has been closing the games. So who cares if he starts. No, you don't get it. Against the LeBron James led Cleveland Cavaliers, Niko should be starting and getting at least 30 mpg. . -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) This game was nothing like a playoff game with these two clubs will be. Of course if the Bulls would've won, J4L would've reminded everyone that it's just a RS game, lol. But Cleveland won so obviously the Bulls have no shot... I still love our chances...depends a lot on Rose though. The Bulls are too unbalanced. Heavy in the front-court and woefully thin on the perimeter outside of Butler. Not much can be done there. It won't happen, but Gasol to the bench and Mirotic starting would give them the best chance. Two traditional bigs is old and outdated. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) I really don't understand Cubs fans. Hey, if you want to have a good team, stop hyping any glimmer of hope you have. Not every new year is your year. I haven't come across a single solitary Cubs fan that think they're going to win the WS this year. But they have many, many reasons to be hype/excited/etc.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) The Cavs are better ATM. It all depends on which Rose comes back. As good as the Cavs are offensively, they're not good defensively. Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath there. As far as the Cavs D, you have to break 'em up in two parts - pre-Mozgov and post-Mozgov. They're in the top 10 in defensive efficiency post-Mozgov last I checked. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) Gasol has a no trade clause. Also, good to know the regular season is only an indicator of the playoffs when the bulls lose. Figures. And the Cavs are just better. Nobody outside of the blindest of homers could look at these two teams and where they're at currently and think the Bulls can win. Those two trades earlier in the year locked up the east. -

Well, should be fun losing to LeBron in round two once again. Really should've dealt Noah after last year's peak season for assets. The Bulls would be foolish not to shop Gasol after his rebirth. He won't likely repeat this performance next year. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) What happened to JR Smith? The guy was the 6th man of the year just two years ago. Dude is crazy talented. He's not a guy that can flourish anywhere. But get him the right teammates, coach, system, etc - you got an asset. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 01:50 PM) If it's not the Bulls then Go Warriors, such a blast to watch. They've really been historically dominant regular season wise. SRS (simple rating system) measures average point differential combined with strength of schedule. The Warriors are at 10.62. That's better than, and in most cases considerably better, than all the great Laker teams (including the Shaq/Kobe ones), all the great Spurs teams and LeBron's Heat. You've go to go back to the 1997 69-win Chicago Bulls to find a higher SRS. That team had a 10.70 SRS. -

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 12:54 AM) When you combine Rose's athleticism with Patrick Beverly's motor and Blake Griffin's explosiveness you get mutant Westbrook. That man is just ridiculous and so much fun to watch. How do you break your face, get surgery on it, then come back 4 days later with a mask and do what he did last night? KD is officially Scottie Pippen to Westbrook's Jordan. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Also, perhaps pushing the definition of "celebrity" a bit, but Father Theodore Hesburgh, Notre Dame's most well known President, died late last night at the age of 97. That's about 70% of this thread. Kalapse is more famous than most of the "celebs" in here.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) Russell Westbrook is ridiculous. 21-8-17 in just 27 minutes. The Kanter trade might be the move that puts them over the top. Sample size. But he's averaging nearly 32 ppg, 6 rpg, 8 apg, 2.5 spg, in just over 33 mpg in 13 games with no Durant. And his ts% is at about 55% in those games. So he's hardly just chucking away. And I agree with you about Kanter (Singler was a good get as well) making them the most lethal 8 seed of all-time. Almost a shame GS has had this ridiculously great season and they might get a nba finals caliber team in the first round. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 07:20 PM) Westbrook isn't anywhere near peak-Kobe. Kobe Bryant is an all-time great. Yeah, now. Back in 2002, everybody outside of LA said he he'd suffer a great deal without Shaq. Westbrook is the most physically/athletically gifted pg in nba history, with an impressive skillset to boot. He'd be just fine without KD. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) But if he had to do it on a nightly basis, his efficiency wouldn't be nearly as good. Contrast that and give the MVP Rose a guy the calibur of Kevin Durant, and watch what his numbers would do. I (and many others) said the same thing about Kobe when he was playing with Shaq. We was a little wrong there. Westbrook could easily lead the league in scoring on above league average efficiency without KD.
