QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 05:43 PM) If the Cubs success and the White Sox failure drives your love/hate for baseball, you're going to hate baseball for the foreseeable future. Their future is stacked, our's is garbage. What a difference a front office makes. This. I'm over hating the Cubs. I'm not going to actively cheer for them or anything but obsessing/hoping/praying they fail (as I did in 2003 for example) is over for me. Hell, once they start winning, maybe the ws limp-dick FO will look to duplicate.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) So J4L are you a Cub fan? You never post about the Sox, are the Cubs' biggest apologist and cheerleader around, and I'm convinced you'd rather the Cubs win it all than the Sox, if not just so you can rub it in our faces that you were "right". That's the impression I'm getting anyway. Am I a Cubs fan? Like do I buy Cubs memorabilia and legitimately watch all their games hoping they win? No. Am I a huge fan/proponent of what they're trying to accomplish? U better believe it. I don't post about the Sox because they're old/tired/boring. I've never gotten over the second half collapse of 2006.

If anything, this is good for the Cubs that they got swept. Nobody with a working brain thought they were really ready to win this year. This year is all about development for them. The last thing they need to do is to dip into their cache to chase a second wc.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) I'm not sure Schwarber wouldn't be the best hitter on the Sox. Great approach and swing for him I'm absolutely positive he would be. To be this advanced (offensively) at 22 is rather impressive.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 06:46 AM) And that's with a .371 BABIP. Hard to be a successful major league hitter when you strike out 32% of the time. Still way too early to jump to any conclusions, but Cubs fans will be heartbroken when they finally realize that not all these prospects will pan out. Wrong. No Cubs fan thinks they'll all pan out. Bryant, Soler and Russell are locks. Even if the latter two are inconsistent, they pass every eye/smell/etc test you can come up with. All they have to do is find a position for Schwarber and you've got 4 locks. Who cares about the rest. 2017. It's not going to be fun around these parts.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) Lawson is toxic right now, you know that. Denver just wanted him gone Yeah, I know. The potential payoff, though. Harden/Lawson backcourt could be devastating.

Rockets acquire Ty Lawson from Denver for feces and a draft pick. This is a steal for Houston. How do these western conference teams pull off these heists? http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2015/07/19/r...ls=iref:nbahpts

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) Who are their other big men options? Jordan Hill and? IDK. Fact is the Warriors winning the way they did is going to change the game. We would've seen this evolution a lot sooner had one of the Nash/D'antoni (bad luck/injuries) teams won.

Kyle Schwarber won the futures game MVP. Dude just won't stop hitting. Cubs gotta figure something out. This guy could get them to the playoffs.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) The NL is terrible this year, only 6 teams with winning records and with how bad the Mets are at offense, I would be completely shocked if the Cubs aren't in the playoffs. At this point the only question is if they'll have a home game in the 1-game playoff or not. The Cubs are totally in your head. Living rent free. Just don't commit suicide in 2017 when they're running the NL.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) Spurs get West on a veteran minimum deal. He gave up 12 million to chase a ring. I really hope for his sake he gets some kind of executive job title with the Spurs after he retires. Spurs now the clear favorites to win it all. Parker-Green-Kawi-Aldridge-Duncan, Manu and West off the bench. Patty Mills still an option too. Good luck Lebron. Cavs are just as good, younger and might get Joe Johnson or Jamal Crawford.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Gagged when I saw Lakers trying to clear cap room for Hibbert. Had no idea they were terrible and in bad financial shape. Who is costing them money beside Kobe? They have cap space. Nobody wants to go there. They have nothing to offer outside of branding/marketing. And aren't they trying to trade for Hibbert?

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Ok. And when the Spurs beat the heat after rolling through OKC and Memphis? Memphis/Houston is a damn tough spread to get through, especially when Josh smith was trying. OKC sucked and will continue to fail in the playoffs and have a fate worse than the Bulls, the most talented team in the league that didn't win a championship. That is something I'd only wish on a crap market like OKC. Memphis is offensively challenged and lol@the rockets. Enes Kanter went 18.7/11.0 - 25.0 PER in 26 games with the Thunder. Westbrook dropped a triple double on the league the second half of the season. They won 45 games in a loaded conference despite the 2014 mvp missing 55 games and losing an elite, rim-protecting specimen that can also score. Don't ever compare them to the Bulls who lost to LeBron and a bunch of greg775's.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 05:04 PM) Do you think this tough slate of competition has actually hurt the west in the finals the past 5 years? It hasn't looked like it. GS didn't play any powerhouses to get to the finals and then got a depleted Cavs team. The top of the west could be as strong as it's ever been in '16 while the Cavs roll through the east.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) They're the same team they were in the second half of last year... And while that was really good, I still don't think they'd be the best team in the NBA if the Spurs get Aldridge. Problem is the Spurs will have to get through one (if not both) of GS/OKC while the Cavs will have to go through, um, lol....

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) People keep saying how terrible it would be for the White Sox to rebuild...and they're about to finish 4 terrible seasons out of 5 and be in a far worse position overall than the Cubs were after their 5 losing seasons. Again, it's only been three years. Anything before Theo/Jed is moot.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) Yes I think intentionally losing for 5 years when you have arguably the second biggest fanbase is cheating. Busch all around. Taking a dump on all the hard work the small market teams do and adding flies to the pile by handing Lester a cool 150. Way to go cubs. Theo and Jed took over after the 2011 season. So it's more like 3 years.
