QUOTE (Boogua @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:16 PM) It's hard seeing this year's Thunder as favorites over teams like the 07 Spurs, the big 3 celtics, and the big 3 Heat teams. The last two were especially super hyped after they were initially put together. I do agree that 13 is likely Lebron's last title, unless he leaves Cleveland at some point to ring chase. I should've and meant to say the west favorite those years. You're right about those east teams, especially the '08 Celtics (the best defense I've ever seen). I agree that LeBron might have to dip out again to win another title. The Cavs FO is just awful.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Yes, but following your logic, LEbron would have won the past 5 championships or so. Honestly, and this is kinda sad in a sense, I think '13 might well be the last title LeBron ever sees. The west is just too f***ing ridiculous. This year's Thunder would be the massive favorite any year from I'd say 2005 to 2012 or 2013. This year, they're a distant third despite the absolute fact they have two of the top 5 players in the game. The Warriors and Spurs aren't going anyway anytime soon. The Cavs f***ed up when they failed on all those high picks (sans Irving). Waiters? Thompson? Bennett? Three fails. And that's not just hindsight. Many thought they reached, especially with Bennett, with those picks.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) Even if that's the case, they're in the top 4-6 teams in the NBA. That makes them contenders. They're contenders in the way the 1990's new york knicks were contenders (even they made the finals once). In other words, they were never really contenders. Even in the 62-win season in '11, they finished outside the top ten in just about every major offensive statistic, traditional or advanced, that you can think of. I have a lot of beef with the Bulls. My main beef, though, is their inability or stubbornness or whatever to adjust and adapt to the modern game. It's all about pace, spacing, versatility aka multi-dimensional players and what has become the most lethal shot in basketball - the 3-pointer. Look at the teams that have taken LeBron out three of the last five years. They specialized in spacing, precise passing/ball movement, and lethal three point shooting. The Bulls still operate like it's 1999. Pathetic.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) You must really hate the Bulls franchise. At worst, they're #3. They've been top 5 in the Eastern Conference for the last 5 years. Classic oxymoron definition. The east f***ing sucks. And even assuming Rose never gets hurt, they lose to the Heat in '12, '13 and '14 and lose to the Cavs last year as well.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) Nice post. I stopped reading when you said the Bulls ensured they had enough cap space for Melo. They didn't and they wanted him to come in on a 2 year deal so when the cap rose, they could sign him to a max then which is illegal. Bulls couldn't even offer the non bird max. Blame that on retaining kirk Hiinrich when they did. I can't blame the FO for Rose getting hurt, but the FO blamed Thibs for not winning with Rose hurt as well. They let go of his top assistant who BTW had the best relationship with your superstar player and was voted assistant of the year last year in a power play with their coach. Look up Friedell and KC Johnson reports. Bulls fired this for basketball reasons and didn't think this "championship caliber roster" was meeting expectations under their old coach who kept making the playoffs every year with Nate Robinson and DJ Augustin leading the way. This surpassed expectations and was fired. You're best argument was that Paxson met or underachieved because of Rose - but they're still here. And first you want a star, and now you want to get the star under your terms. But he hadn't made the playoffs!! Anthony Davis didn't prior to last year and won't this year. Look the other way, he's not a superstar!!!!! In addition, I argued to trade Joakim at his peak. His usage was way too high and he had already broken down in the playoffs. A guy with no offensive game wasn't going to be able to keep that play up, especially being a proven injury prone player as well. There's an assistant of the year award?

What a joke of a game. I was looking forward to it since last week. Cleveland might have to make a trade. They'll run through the east, obviously. We've never had two teams, Spurs and Warriors, this historically good in the same year.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 11:11 AM) Anyone that doesn't take steph curry with their first pick is a horrible GM. Are you Vlade Divac? Especially in the 2016 nba. With the way the games are called now, the way teams are going smaller and smaller, the emphasis on spacing/speed/quickness/etc, the warriors are tailor-made for today's nba. if you don't get them this year, you might not get them until 2020.

My list: 1: Curry 2: Who the hell cares. Curry is better than you.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) I always look at best player in the following ways... - who do I take as the 1st pick in a one game playoff with my life on the line (LeBron) - who do I take as the 1st pick if I'm starting a franchise today (Kevin Durant) Curry is cute. He bombs threes. He also has an amazing supporting cast and still got taken to 6 games by the King without Love or Irving. GTFO with the flavor of the week and give me some real basketball analysis. 31.6 per, 67.5% ts%, 22.0 +/-. dude won the mvp last year and could legitimately be up for most improved player award this year. this is historically epic stuff we've seen from him this far. flavor or the week my ass.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) Ok, so let's talk about Jimmy Butler. For whatever reason, he's not being recognized as the complete stud he is. I'm actually trying to come up with the reasons that both the national and local media aren't talking about Jimmy Butler enough. Here's my best attempt to explain. - DERRICK ROSE: A huge majority of Chicago still wants him to be the man. So anything Butler does is just looked at as "sidekick" work for when Rose comes back to being great. The national media cannot get past the downfall of Rose and would rather use that storyline than the rise of Jimmy Butler - JOAKIM NOAH: Just watch the highlights in the clip a few posts above to see what I'm about to talk about - Jo doesn't want Jimmy to be the man. Jo's bench role coupled with the downfall of Derrick is killing him. See how the entire bench goes bananas for Butler all game and Jo stands there, stoic, expressionless, with the rage building inside of him. He misses the glory days of his "little brother", the youngest MVP in league history, and his playing 40+ minutes per game. He does not want a changing of the guard. - THE NBA F*CKED UP: Jimmy Butler went at the end of the first round. He is now a top 5 NBA player. There, I said it, Jimmy Butler is a top 5 NBA player. The NBA, the talking heads, and all the experts will never see Jimmy as a guy performing at or above other guys taken in the top 10 of the NBA Draft year in and year out. The Top 5 are: 1. LeBron James 2. Kevin Durant 3. Steph Curry (I don't want to hear it) 4. Kawhi Leonard 5. Jimmy Butler I also don't want to hear about AD until he actually factors in W/L's, and I don't want to hear about Russell Westbrook because he's a sidekick who shoots a low percentage. - USAGE RATE: Jimmy Butler's usage rate falls well below the above studs mostly because when Derrick's on the floor, he hogs the ball. A man of his talents should NOT be 41st in the East in usage rate. But he has a f***ing BALL HOG on his roster who his spineless coach runs the offense through when he decides to actually suit up. Derrick's usage rate is 31st in the NBA. Derrick Rose: 250th in PER, 31st in Usage Rate Jimmy Butler: 17th in PER, 41st in Usage Rate Makes a ton of sense, right? Nope. Players with a higher usage rate than Jimmy freaking Butler include: Dennis Schroder, Reggie Jackson, Isaiah Thomas, DeMar DeRozan, Derrick Rose, Marreese Speights, Emmannuel Mudiay, Zack LaVine, Brandon Knight, Jeff Teague, Alec Burks, Markieff Morris, Nikola Vucevic, Trey Burke... need I go on? The only guy on the PER list above Jimmy with a lower usage rate is a center who can't handle the ball (Hassan Whiteside) whose PER is boosted by 4+ blocks per game. So, in summary, as long as Derrick's worthless ass is on this roster, Jimmy won't get the usage or respect he truly deserves as a superstar in this league. Oh, and Fred Hoiberg is a dunce. Excellent post except for one thing. Steph Curry is the best player in the world atm. This is not debatable. When you're more accurate from 35-40 feet than a lot of guys are from 20 feet then it's just done. And dude's got a +/- of 22.0. Nobody, not jordan, shaq, magic, lebron, etc, has sniffed that.

Don't get all the "if we had this butler with 2011 rose" we would've won the title talk. it's a ridiculous hypothetical. One, butler wasn't even in the league in 2011. to look at him now and try go back five years is dumb. What if Hakeem, Drexler and Barkley had all been in their primes when they teamed up? wtf cares. they weren't. anyway, butler is a legitimate stud and was amazing tonight. good win against an awful team. they still have no chance whatsoever against cleveland and until rose and noah are gone they'll never be able to build a legit contender.
-
Why are Bulls fans stressing? It's not like this team has a chance to win anything. LeBron has found his jumper, Kyrie is healthy, and the Cavs will win the east by at least 10 games. Who cares.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Kyrie and Derrick Rose are basically made from the same glass. rose is a lost cause. kyrie had the top two scoring games in the nba last year. 57 and 55 points. just think about that. he needs to be healthy in may and june. i wouldn't bet on it. that's for sure. i just hope he is.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) What is this? Kings of comedy? Kyrie has never remained healthy in any one of his professional seasons. You gotta face facts whatever. if the cavs are healthy, they can beat gs. if not, they won't. that simple.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) "If Kyrie is at full strength...." Lmao what is this? def comedy jam? kyrie's been back like three games. you gotta give him time to get back to where he was. if he gets hurt again then so be it.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) Interesting that the Cavs showed the winning formula that is key to beating the Warriors last night. While losing http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14437102...-state-warriors That was the best defensive job i've seen all year on gs. If Kyrie is at full strength they win the game rather easily. well not easily, but they win the game. it's either the cavs or spurs. nobody else has a chance against the warriors.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 07:07 PM) Butler is better than Leonard in my opinion.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:04 PM) If only the Bulls had traded up for Porzingis. That guy is a stud. what?! what old, washed up, injured crap could the bulls have traded to get into the top 5 as far as picks? #facepalm #whatthef***#

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) Kobe Bryant is unbelievably awful. That is all. It's MUCH worse than MJ the Wizard. These alphas just don't know when it's time to quit.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) The second three-peat Bulls team is probably the best designed team ever to defeat these Warriors. You've got to start Rodman at the 5 and kukoc at the 4. Rodman/Longley is a joke offensively and would be exposed so bad by modern defenses.

Nostalgia should be officially classified as a disease. These Warriors would smoke those 90's teams. Actually, the Hakeem Rockets would match-up better. Hakeem could protect the rim all by himself. He was athletic enough to guard pick n rolls, switch, guard shooting bigs, etc
