  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:00 AM) I remember in the 90s thinking it was kinda weird how big a deal it was for other fans to watch and see the bulls play. I feel like the warriors are at that level of interest now, where everyone is watching their game and knows when they come to town. They're better than the 90's Bulls. The 3-pointer puts them at another level. Could you imagine if they played with a reduced line like the bulls did for a few of those years? G.A.M.E.O.V.E.R!
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) And yet Gasol/Bynum was what everyone was chasing 5 years ago. If everyone tries to replicate exactly what the warriors are doing they'll end up with the poor man's warriors. gmab. the game has changed a lot since 2010. and if you remember those laker teams, their best lineups were with odom at the 4 and gasol at the 5.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) I'm fairly certain, a player like Shaq could be an absolute monster against a team like the Warriors. Problem is, Shaq is one of a kind. Offensively? Yes. Defensively? He'd be an atrocity. He'd get pick and rolled to death and be forced to play defense in space. Shaq was too big for that. Hakeem and D-Rob would have no problems defensively today.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) This is literally the same stuff you were spouting about the heat 2 years ago (players without positions!!!). So if anything, this is what the heat/OKC started, the warriors just have the talent to finish it. Daryl morey also a big reason for this. You're lying on okc. The Heat did what they did because LeBron could play the four (allowing the heat to keep an extra shooter on the floor at all times) and he passes better than all but about 4 point guards. The Warriors are different. Their entire roster fits where the game is at today. There's a reason Gasol/Noah are worthless playing together. One traditional big is fine. Two? No good.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) They will all fail miserably. That's like saying every team is going to start molding their franchies after the 90's Bulls or 00's Lakers. I'm pretty sure they all try to find superstar talent. That's the missing ingredient there. The Warriors have Curry. No one else does. Without Curry the Warriors are just a good shooting team. He makes them historically elite. I'll steal a play out of your playbook and make a definitive statement (that I 100% believe): he's the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA. I think we can anoint him that title now. He's on pace to break his own record for 3 pointers made. He's got more made himself than like 5 teams in the league through 10 games. He hits circus shots from every spot on the floor. The dude, to me, is more exciting to watch than anyone since Jordan. And that would include AI, Vince, Kobe, Lebron, etc. My mouth drops with some of the stuff he does on the court. It's too simplistic to say they just have Curry and nobody else does. The Warriors are changing the game. The way they completely keep the floor spread offensively at all times is amazing. Then on defense they can get away with an overall lack of size because of their length/athleticism/versatility. Just watch 'em on d. They can switch on anything or anybody and not lose a thing. Draymond Green is a big part of that. Just read what scouts and GMs are looking for these days. They're not looking for the next LeBron James. They want the next Draymond Green.
  6. The Warriors just dropped 75 points on the Wolves in the first half. I don't even know what to say anymore. These guys are going to completely change the way franchises operate (scout, draft, scheme, etc) for the next decade.
  7. They're not going to win 72, obviously. That's a ridiculous expectation in the west. But the Warriors are every bit as good, if not better, than they were last year so far. They're a pleasure/joy to watch.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) "Will never" is troll speak. "Probably won't," "isn't likely", etc. are reasonable people speak. Then I'm just a troll. If last year didn't convince you then you're either dumb (not you, bulls fans in general) or in denial. #itcouldhappen! #angelsintheoutfield!
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) If the Bulls want to beat Cleveland in the playoffs, each of the following has to happen: -Rose plays like he did last night (which actually isn't too far-fetched) -Butler plays good defense but remains a viable offensive option -Mirotic has to come to play, and not put up 2 points like last night -At least 3 of our top 4 bigs have to be healthy (Portis would slip into the #4 spot) -McDermott and Moore have to continue being solid role players Not impossible, but we'll see. All that could happen and they would still lose. They will never, ever beat a LeBron James-led team when it counts. Only western conference teams do that.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 01:15 AM) Not to be a contrarian asshole, but if the students were carrying guns, once the perpetrator whipped out the knife, boom, shoot him in the leg and incident is over. It's dangerous out there and I am all for the bad guys taking a bullet in the butt or the leg when they are wielding knives and guns. lol. only greg. he said a bullet in the butt. like when carl winslow got shot in the ass on family matters.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 01:47 PM) J4L must be in mourning right now. Please. I've just been sitting back enjoying baseball. Unlike the rest of you, my baseball life (and in some of you guys' cases personal lives) doesn't revolve around whether the Cubs win or lose. As far as the nlcs goes, Cubs got bent over pretty good. I said a couple months back that this current Mets rotation is the best I've ever seen. And they get Wheeler back next year. As for the Cubs, they've got more young talent up and down their organization than any team in baseball. You have to be an utter fool to think this is the last we've heard of them.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) Well, maybe just the posters who are particularly piqued anytime something positive is said about KC. Last year, the response was they were just lucky, sucked for a long time, wouldn't repeat/flukey, Yost was a terrible manager and emulating their rebuild would require sucking for 28 years. Well, no, it took them six and one-half or seven years to build a consistent contender. Moore became GM on June 8th, 2006, exactly when the White Sox "dynasty" was peaking that year. By year 7, they were ten games over .500 and competitive at the end of the season. Then two consecutive ALCS appearances and the resources to definitely get at least one more. Of course, it has also been seven years of rebuilding for the White Sox and nobody is even expecting .500 in Year 8. And that's with the Royals getting a tiny share compared to the Tigers or White Sox for RSN. I get what you're saying. But haven't you read through this thread? Soxtalk will never be the same again if the Cubs win it all.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) If it's KC and the Cubs, SoxTalk will have a difficult time cheering for the Royals. Certainly cheering for StL against KC would be easier, but everyone's also sick and tired of the Cardinals at this point. lmao. you're kidding, right?
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) How is Baez's defense? I haven't seen enough of him to get a good idea. Neither have I. Fathom should know. Oh, that's right. He only watches Cubs highlights.
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 05:24 PM) So Cubs in 5. Russell's defense cannot be underestimated. He's transformed that infield since he took over.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) He is out for the series. Holy s***. Didn't know that. Huge blow. I'll still go with the Cubs. Gonna be much harder, though.
  17. Oh my goodness gracious. I had 2017 as the year the Cubs began their reign. It's happening now. RIP White Sox, Bears, Bulls, etc.
  18. My god Wrigley is gonna be f***in' insane Monday.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 06:20 AM) Go Scrubs Go ...........Go Scrubs Go..............Hey Chicago what do you say the Scrubs played like s*** today! Creativity. Thy name is soxfest.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) I liked myself better 6 years ago. I wasn't an alcoholic. lol. I was just giving you a hard time. Your Cubs analysis is pretty spot on. That's why it's hard for most people (me included) to believe you only watch Cubs highlights. Wow, don't even remember. I know I thought Beckham was going to be the better than Jeter.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) Liked you better 6 years ago . Of course we probably thought BJ Upton was the best player. I liked myself better 6 years ago. I wasn't an alcoholic. lol. I was just giving you a hard time. Your Cubs analysis is pretty spot on. That's why it's hard for most people (me included) to believe you only watch Cubs highlights.
  22. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) I thought you only watch Cub highlights on MLB.com??? hahaha. Tony just treated fathom.
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Sure thing, buddy. No one here is buying that's the only reason. My opinions/thoughts on sports are some of the most unpopular on this board (I think Kobe's skillset is better than MJ's was for example). If I really wanted the Cubs to win for reasons other than to watch the board implode, i'd admit it.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) Be fun to see The Cubs win tonight just to see how miserable some of you guys will be. That's the only reason I'm rooting for them.
