Your 2010 White Sox All Star- Matt Thornton
QUOTE (asmithxc @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) Rios not even on the final vote list? What a joke. Ortiz has no business being on the team. Though Votto didn't make the team in the NL, either, which is similarly ridiculous. But we get Ty Wigginton and Jose Bautista! When the f*** will MLB abolish the ridiculous rule of every team requiring at least 1 player?

Your 2010 White Sox All Star- Matt Thornton
Wait a minute! I hate the Red Sox. But no Adrian Beltre? He's only been one of the 10 best players in baseball this year. And I'm not surprised at all that Rios/Konerko didn't make it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) I wonder if the Brewers would take Danks straight-up for Fielder. Gallardo/Danks would immediately become the third best 1-2 combo in the NL behind Lincecum/Cain and Carpenter/Wainwright.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) You have to be kidding me with the bolded ones. If you think Hawpe can play CF, then Jermaine Dye can play CF too, how would you like that? Again arm doesn't mean s*** when you can't get to a baseball that isn't hit in a 5 foot vicinity of where you are standing. Jeff Francouer has no range, Andre Ethier has no range, and Brad Hawpe is the worst outfielder in baseball when it comes to range. Ankiel also isn't the greatest CFer around. He has a great arm, but like I said, if no catch then the arm doesn't matter most of the time. Intimidation plays a part in base running, but catching the ball is far more important. Outside of Ichiro, Sweeney, and maybe Justin Upton, none of the guys you listed would be good center fielders, they don't possess the range. They'd be at least mediocre, but nothing more. Wait, he meant those guys can play CF? I thought we were talking RF? I know BearSox ain't that delusional.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) Just from the top of the head, don't hold me to these names as I am going off of memory and throwing out possibilities. -Ichiro Suzuki (already mentioned) -Nick Markakis (already mentioned) -Hunter Pence (already mentioned) -J.D. Drew (at least in his younger, healthier days he was a stud) -Ryan Sweeney (plays a great corner OF and a solid CF) -Shin-Soo Choo (great arm, solid range) -Justin Upton (Freak) -Andre Ethier (Great arm, unsure about his range though. Probably better than Dye and Quentin though, but thats not saying much) -Jayson Werth (Pretty sure he has good range, not sure about his arm though) -Jay Bruce (Good range I think and solid arm) -Rick Ainkiel (when healthy, great athlete) -Carlos Gonzalez (not sure about arm, but I believe he has great range) -Jeff Francouer (great arm, probably lacking in range) -Brad Hawpe (not certain on this one, but IIRC, he has a great arm and pretty good range) -Tyler Colvin (seems to be a very solid corner outfielder) -Jason Heyward (stud) And there are some CF's who could fit into this equation as well. If we got our hands on a STUD CF, we could move our very own very good CF in Alex Rios back to RF where he was likely one of the best in the league. Nate McLouth is mediocre in CF, but would likely be at least above average in RF. You're backtracking a little. You said a "ton" of range with a "cannon" for an arm. I assumed by that you meant great range and great arm. That just doesn't really exist at RF. Although your list is pretty good. By the way, Jay Bruce has a GREAT arm. Not solid. I watch a few Reds games here and there (and whenever they play the Cubs). And we already have a stud CF. But I know what you mean. Another stud CF would enable us to move Rios to RF and have a stud CF and RF.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) I've learned to tune them out or change the channel. It's the same type of people who say we cant bring in LeBron because it'll hurt Rose's development. Or that the ghost of MJ is too overwhelming for any superstar FA from now until the end of time.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Jim Thome has 2 homers today. Passed Harmon Killebrew for 10th on the all time list. That's two more than Mauer has at home all season.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) There are plenty of right fielders with that skill set. There is? I'd like to see this list. Only guys that come to mind for me are Nick Markakis and Hunter Pence. And even those two don't have what I'd call great range.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 12:15 AM) IIRC, his stuff was flat last game as well. I was very impressed with Medlen tonight. Great change-up he threw to righties. Could we trade our scouts for Atlanta's? Man. Teheran, Vizcaino, Minor and another guy who I'm forgetting about in their system.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) Latos is just dominating teams, as his WHIP is sensational. I'm really disappointed in Hanson, as his stuff has sucked lately. He'll be alright. That shellacking we gave him really inflated his ERA.

Honorable mention: Votto and Latos. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) Ok find me 25 negative Sox comments from any other poster in tonights game thread and I'll believe you. Nefatli Feliz in. If I were gay, I'd make him mine. With that said, a 5-run inning would be welcomed here.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) I just couldn't imagine Juan getting 4 hits in a game. Are we hexed against the AL? I could. They'd just come with nobody on base. And we're not hexed. We just don't have the offense to compete with the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, Blue Jays, Rangers...f*** it, the entire AL outside of Oakland and Seattle.
