  1. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) We've never competed in the east and we could easily do so after this summer, even with missing out on the top 3. If Bosh/Wade go to Miami and Lebron goes back to Cleveland, what team in the east is gonna be dominant? I couldn't say for sure until we see how everything plays out. That includes where the lower-tier free agents end up and whatever trades come about. But I can say with certainty that even with one of Booze/Lee that Orlando, Boston, Cleveland and Atlanta would be better than us. And I don't think Miami would resign Wade and sign Bosh and then fill our the roster with 10 Adam Keefe's. The bottom-line is we wouldn't be a legitimate contender. Best case scenario would be 2007. Win 48-52 games and eventually get bounced by a better team in the second round.
  2. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) While striking out with the top 3 would suck, it wouldn't nearly be the end of the world. Boston is aging, Cleveland will be the same old 1-man show, and Miami will have 2 stars on an incredibly thin roster. If this were to happen and the Bulls used their cap space well they could still compete. Lee/Boozer, Haywood, Miller, Morrow, Brewer, Redick, etc. While it would not be what we all have dreamed of, that team could still compete with those other teams who won't be nearly perfect. We "competed" in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010. Which was fine considering the laughingstock we became following the breakup of the dynasty. But competing isn't good enough anymore. The last two years were all a prelude to this moment. To come away with Boozer or Lee and a few marginal free agents would be every bit as bad as prematurely breaking up a team that had won 6 of the last 8 championships.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) The one thing about LaRouche that intrigues me is his 2nd half numbers. He tends to put up better numbers after the ASB. There's not a more extreme case of first half, second half splits in baseball than Laroche. His career first half OPS is .777. His career second half OPS is .909.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) twithersAP Reports of a sign-and-trade agreement with Raptors and Cavs for Bosh very premature. Nothing on table. No players discussed. Yup. Just read that at Realgm. And didn't Broussard say Carmelo told Amare he wanted to join him in NY next year? Now we're hearing Carmelo is close to signing the extension the Nuggets offered. lol. This is so pathetic. And we're part of the problem.
  5. Well this is pretty f***ed up if true. http://twitter.com/Chris_Broussard/status/17871791593
  6. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:44 AM) I wonder if Alejandro De Aza could put up DeJesus-like numbers if he was given enough playing time in the majors... I DO NOT want to find out.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:15 AM) Because that would go against everything both of those franchises have done to get themselves where they are now after a long period of irrelevance. Yup. Those two have done it through terrific scouting and shrewd trades. I don't blame either of them for not wanting to mortgage their future for a 3-month rental. Crap, you just said what I said.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) I seriously think LeBron might stretch this out for another week or two (or more?) to stroke his own ego. He has an excuse to as well as long as Bosh is out there since his camp can leak out that he's still trying to convince Bosh to do a S&T to join him in Cleveland. I don't buy that at all. There's not a damn thing Toronto could want back in a S&T from Cleveland. There would have to be some kinda investigation if that were to happen.
  9. Chris Broussard just said on M&M that this crap could drag out till Friday now. I'm so sick of this. Would this idiot just pick Cleveland so Kobe can call him and thank him for guaranteeing him a 6th ring.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:59 AM) .923 SLG? Wow. 7 HRs in 39 ABs will drive up SLG%.
  11. .333/.469/.923/1.392 in his last 13 games.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:27 AM) At this point I've lost all excitement about this decision. At best the Bulls have a 50/50 shot of getting one of the big two, otherwise it's a Boozer or Lee signing and maybe a run at Camelo next year (not likely). I can't fault the Bulls though. From everything I've read/heard they've done exactly the right thing. Nearly pulling Wade in despite him being a "lock" to return to Miami was incredible. As far as Lebron's decision, I'm confident this whole process was mapped out and manufactured by his inner circle. The longer people talk about him and what he's thinking/doing the better for his career. But leaving Cleveland isn't as easy as some are making it out to be. Without him the town does die a little. People will lose their jobs. All of his friends at the Cavs will instantly be thrown into s***sville. It'd be a tough choice for anyone. You know you've got a diva when your "friends" come into play during f***ing free agency.
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:42 AM) If LeBron stays in Cleveland then he really is a diva There was absolutely no reason to have this LeBronageddon summer if he is just going to stay in Cleveland.. He would have already resigned if that was the case.. whats the point of going through all of this? There is 100%, without a doubt, better options for him to play for than Cleveland.. If its about winning, Cleveland is not where he needs to be.. they cant beat Orlando, and they cant beat Boston.. Cleveland has literally no room to add anything of importance around him right now.. If the Bulls get Wade, or Wade AND Bosh that's just another team that Cleveland isn't going to be able to get past in the East.. Hell Miami might even end up with Wade and Bosh.. So basically if LeBron is looking at this, Boston will more than likely be returning the same team.. Orlando is still there.. the Bulls could potentially pass Cleveland up.. The Knicks may even make themselves a little more competitive depending on how their offseason finishes.. maybe its the Heat that bump themselves up.. I can tell you the one team that wont be improving, that's Cleveland.. If he stays in Cleveland its all about not hurting peoples feelings in the home town.. If he decides to stay, I don't think there is anyway he can justify that there is a better chance of winning there than in any of these other places courting him.. Wade isn't going back to Miami unless they get another piece for him, that's the whole reason he isn't locked up there already anyway.. Chicago is the PERFECT scenario for LeBron.. Even if all they got was LeBron, I don't see how they aren't the favorites to come out of the East.. And the crazy part is, even if they sign LeBron there is STILL room to add another big piece to that team.. there is just no way that he can explain why staying in Cleveland was a better choice than going to the Bulls.. and he pretty much will just be proving that he is an attention whore and its not about winning.. he has a chance to win multiple championships with a very, very good team.. If he stays in Cleveland, I hope the Bulls gets Wade and "Blank" and win the title next year so LeBron can sit there kicking himself saying "That coulda been me, at least Akron loves me" Lebron has quite possibly the largest ego in sports right now. The whole "Why should i congratulate somebody that just beat me?" after Dwight Howard and the Magic kicked his ass all but confirmed that. MJ could shake hands. Magic could shake hands. Bird could shake hands. Lebron? Why oh why?
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:57 AM) Meh.. unless they are offering Gibson and Revere, they aren't losing THAT much of their future. Ramos is obviously blocked (well.. for the moment barring a move to DH/3B) and Hicks, who I like alot, will be a loss, but they will have Span for a while out there also and an improving Young in LF. The writing was on the wall with their money when they signed Mauer to that loaded $ deal. Couple that with their superior scouting and they are in good shape. I think it's an overpay in the context that he's only there three months. Now if they can somehow sign him to a multi-year contract, then it's the steal of the decade (not really, but you get my point).
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:00 AM) The way he is hitting (and that defensive gem he made yesterday) he is comming back to becomming "THE" CQ. I won't get greedy. I'll take the Dye-like defense in RF if he gives us a .900+ OPS.

    Blake Simon? Hahahahahaha. I'm just playin, bro. Happy b-day. And I still despise you.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 12:41 AM) I'd be willing to argue that if the Twins actually offered that, the deal would be done already. That's an overpay for a half season rental of a pitcher IMO. You're right. That would be an overpay. But that just goes to show that these aren't the Twins of the past. With the new park in place, they're looking to spend, or in this case sacrifice some of their future to go for it this year. They wouldn't even be in the conversation for Lee a few years ago.
  18. All I know is the Lakers and their fans have to be loving this. The summer that was supposed to "reshape" the NBA is looking like nothing more than fabricated bulls*** hype. If Lebron and Wade stay put (and it's looking that way), what will have changed? Not a damn thing. Joe Johnson goes from a 2nd-tier SG to a 2nd-tier SG that's incredibly overpaid. Amare will more than likely be semi-exposed without Nash, not to mention the Suns are worse now. Dirk stayed put. Pierce stayed put. Boozer and Lee by themselves certainly won't make anybody a contender. Unless Bosh ends up in Chicago or Miami, exactly nothing will have changed. Lakers in 2011!
  19. Wow. Well this automatically (if they weren't already) makes the Twins the team to beat in the Central. Worst case scenario for us. Now it's Kenny's turn.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) Can you imagine anyone saying that this year after what we saw last year from both of them ? Baseball absolutely makes no sense a lot of the time.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Yes indeed, but at the same time, Alex is slowing down and Andruw has become absolutely worthless. We've got to do something about that damn DH role... All-star break coming at a perfect time for Rios (although he should obviously be there). But overall I'm not worried. Hell, Evan Longoria went 3 weeks doing next to nothing offensively. I knew Rios would come down some. But yeah, we need one more bat. We're just not in as dire straights as we were a month ago.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) Carlos Quentin and Alexei Ramirez....two badass motherf***ers... Everybody is talking about Prince Fielder, Adam Dunn and Adam Laroche...I feel like we've already added two bats in CQ and 'Lexi. With that said, I'd still prefer another one.
  23. I've seen enough. CQ is back.
  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Santastic! Lame.
  25. That was nasty. Was that a slider?
