  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) They need to acquire two more hitters still, as Garko won't do much in that park. I disagree. Garko is a legitimate upgrade over Ishikawa. They could still use another bat. But when you have pitching like they do, you've got a damn good shot.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) I think they both end up making it It's possible. I still like the Giants.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) Walkoff slam for Soriano...yeah, this baseball season is beginning to suck. Ironic he hit that just as the Buehrle thing came up on Letterman. It's going to come down to them and the Cardinals. Matt Holiday is fitting in quite nicely. Derosa has been raking since coming off the DL. Ludwick is on fire. And they have Pujols. In other words, they have the best offense in that pathetic league outside of the Phillies. It's gonna come down to pitching. Carpenter/Wainwright is as good as any 1-2 in the division. If Pineiro and Lohse can just continue doing what they've been doing, no more or less, I like the Cardinals chances.
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) his throws are awful ,i dont understand why since he has a cannon If not for his ridiculously cheap contract, I'd have no problem at all trading him.
  5. Yawn@Konerko's HR. We've still got 7 innings to go. Plenty of time for us to f*** it up. 8 years of pitiful baseball in this park is enough for me. Go ahead and ban me.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) Why do the Twins never make errors like this against us? We always seem to have horrible defensive players compared to them. They own us. Plain and simple. Our MVP last year was the little kid that called heads (I think it was heads) when they were determining who would get homefield in the event of a tie division tie.
  7. I'm gonna go ahead and assume we get swept this series (a safe assumption). Will be anywhere from 2-5 games out by the deadline. Are we still buyers?
  8. Can we just go ahead and forfeit this series right now? I'm so sick of this tired ass crap that happens in this park every f***ing time we come here.
  9. Got this from Yahoo! sports. LOL. Yeah, trade him. I'm sorry, even as a White Sox fan I'm insulted by this rumor. Imagine what a Dodger fan feels like.
  10. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) I think it would take one of either Danks or Floyd as the centerpiece to get the Dbacks to even listen. And then they would probably demand both Richard and Poreda. If I'm the Dbacks I demand, not ask, but f***ing demand one of Danks/Floyd, Hudson and Flowers. Probably would take a couple other guys. In other words, ain't nothin' happening here.
  11. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) I'm hoping that's just a bad pic of young Trayce on FutureSox. I seem to remember his Pop being a handsome dude. Gotta love the potential outfield improvement in the coming years with D2, Mitchell and now Thompson aboard. Three premium athletes with average to above average tools across the board. If we sign Goodwin, I'll be f***ing elated. Quite a jump from when Ryan Sweeney was our top OF prospect.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) Keep in mind this team had Hudson, Zito and Mulder in their rotation. I know this. Point still stands. Jason Giambi and Miguel Tejada, both guys being steroid users, had a lot to do with their success during that time period.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) That's worse than Pierzynski for Nathan et al.? Without question. Adam Jones has already established himself as an all-star, with the potential to be a superstar. George Sherrill has already established himself as an above average closer. Chris Tillman is arguably the best pitching prospect in baseball. Kam Mickolio has been compared favorably to Bobby Jenks. Don't know much about Tony Butler. But who cares. Meanwhile, Erik Bedard appears to be headed down the same road as guys like Mark Prior and Jason Schmidt. This isn't a case of 20/20 hindsight here. I remember anybody who knew anything about baseball saying the Mariners gave up way too much for Bedard when the trade was made. They were all, um, right.
  14. This has got to be the worst trade rumor yet. Clayton Kershaw is so talented it's disgusting. When you factor in age/cost/potential, I wouldn't trade him straight up for any pitcher in baseball not named Tim Lincecum or Felix Hernandez.
  15. The 2008 Orioles/Mariners trade has set the precedent in regards to what is deemed an acceptable package for an ace pitcher. It's pretty clear Riccardi wants the equivalent to the gold package the Orioles received for Erik Bedard. Problem is no GM wants to be the next Bill Bavasi (that trade was the final nail in his coffin). Halladay isn't going anywhere.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) The playoffs are a crapshoot it takes a hell of team just to get into the playoffs. And if our system had Cardenas, Weeks, Green, Anderson, Wallace, Cahill, Mazzaro, Devine, Simmons, Donaldson and Carter in it, i can't imagine anyone would complain when we traded a Brandon Allen. Do the A's even get to the playoffs without two artificially enhanced cheaters, who both stole MVP awards from more deserving players? Beane is a good GM. But he's certainly not the Messiah that some make him out to be. Honestly, other than a book, what's the difference between him and KW?
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) and Bedard was just placed on the DL today... And the worst trade of the modern era continues to get worse for the Mariners. There goes any chance of them getting anything for him before the deadline.
  18. Seriously, can we promote this guy already? I know they want him to develop his change. He can't do this at high A? We're not talking about jumping to the majors for crying out loud.
  19. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) Who do you all see as his main competition? Hernandez? Greinke? Halladay? Maybe Jered Weaver? Pretty much. Weaver to a much lesser extent. If Halladay gets traded to the NL it gets real interesting. It's gonna be tough to beat out Felix.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 04:34 PM) He was at 1b on the ground ball to Alexei. Yup, I just figured that out.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) He caught the last out of a perfect game. He'll remember that forever. Huh?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Houston and the Cubs are now tied at 1 game behind the Cardinals. Milwaukee is 2 back. The Cubs have played 2 fewer games than others so there's %age differences. I'm boycotting NL baseball for the rest of my life if the Astros get to the postseason. I look at their roster and want to vomit.
  23. My friend Marcus, who's a Cubs fan, just texted me with "Man, I remember 5-6 years ago when I used to think Kerry Wood was better than Mark Buehrle."
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) And it wont be Illinois. Maybe not. But I certainly don't view OSU and PSU as juggernauts.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) And Illinois is part of the suck. And one team still has to win the conference of suck.
